“You know who I am.” Jacqueline Buchannan was not the jilted lover Rose would have pegged to show up unannounced. To peek from afar, maybe, but knock on their door took some guts.
“And you know who I am.”
Jacqueline’s gaze swept up and down Rose’s frame and smirk skimmed her lips. Jacqueline was dressed in Gucci; Rose was dressed in her workout gears.
“Are you going to invite me in?”
That’s sooo not going to happen. “I don’t see the purpose.”
Jacqueline stepped forward and pushed her way in anyway. Rose considered stopping her but would have had to physically restrain her. Rose shut the door and kept Jacqueline from walking further into the room. “That’s far enough.”
“This won’t take long.” Jacqueline’s voice held tightly controlled anger as her eyes kept a constant surveillance of the lounge room. “Well, I’m here to see Harry’s wife and his children, but mainly the wife.”
“Well, Harry is at work and that I’m sure you know about and secondly our children are at school. So why do you want to see me?”
“To invite you and Harry to my welcome home ball and here is the invitation,” she was handing the invitation card toward Rose. Rose took it with a smile reading through the invitation.
“So, Jackie...”
“It actually Jacqueline,” she corrected Rose.
“Well, sorry but Harry and myself wouldn’t be able to attend that day, so sorry.”
“Well that okay. Well tell Harry to call me when he is tired of you,” she said before letting herself out of the house. Rose just stood there watching the door, trying to retrieve her memory from Jacqueline’s words. Rose trust Harry and that he wouldn’t cheat on her with Jacqueline or any one else.
Later in the afternoon Rose went to work to check in on her secretary Ronda. Harry had told her that she was allowed to work, but Rose wanted to spend more time with the kids before school starts. She wanted to bond more with Eddie; because she would be spending four hours every day and he want him to had that mother and son relationship with him, since Harry’s mostly travelling.
“What are you doing here?” asked Ronda, as Rose entered the office. Rose knew that she wasn’t supposed to be at work till the following week but she needed to distract her mind for Jacqueline’s words.
“Hello to you too, Ronda. Plus I just need to catch up on some works before returning to work next week. I have two hours to spare before picking the kids up from school, because Harry is working late today.”
“Well that a good thing because after work I was going to head out to your place, to hand out some case documents that you need to work on, because you would be attending too this case in San Diego.”
“What? Harry would not be happy about this; I need to be at home for the kids surely there is someone else that would be willing to attend this case because I can’t.”
“There is not on else beside you and this person specifically requested you,” said Ronda.
“Okay fine, how long would this case last?”
“Oh it would last for about a week and you would be back in time for Aria’s birthday.”
“Well that good, so who else is on this case?” asked Rose as she enter her office.
“Well, James Johnson is currently working on the case and he needs a back up lawyer and you’re the only lawyer that is free. I know that it’s difficult for you because of Eddie, but this case need you, and I know that you regret it if something happen to that kid when you could have done something to safe it.”
“Okay I would think about it, but first I would like to talk with Harry and let’s pray that he said yes.”
“Oh come on. Harry had never objected when it comes to your work, so he would say yes.”
Rose spent hours working on the case and evidences given to her by James secretary.
Rose waved her goodbyes to her follower colleagues before heading out to collect her children from school. She was so excited to hear about their first day at school. She picked up Eddie from his learning centre, but he refused to leave the centre and cried for ages before falling asleep during the ride to collect Aria from school.When Rose drove up to Aria’s school, Aria was waiting outside waiting for her, but Rose was surprised because Aria was talking to other kids. Rose was happy to see Aria making some new friends.
“Mum, can you please pick me up at 6pm because my friends and I are staying back for tennis practise?” asked Aria.
“Okay, but after talking to the teacher that is in charge of the program,” said Rose as she walked over the back door and removed sleeping Eddie from his car seat. They entered the school ground and went into the office talking to the teacher about the tennis program.
Rose drove home and put Eddie to sleep which would give her some time to prepared dinner and asked Harry to pick up Aria from school before having dinner and discussing about her trip to San Diego and working with James, which would be interesting, she thought.
