Challenges In Our Marriage

Chapter 26

“Harry there is no one at the house,” said Gwen. Harry had send Gwen over to keep a close eye on Rose while he was still in New York dealing with the legal action toward Jacqueline.
“Where could she be? Gwen I need you to call anyone and found out where my wife and kids are, please!”

“Okay, but I have got to go now. Skyler is awake.”
“Sure, bye.”
Harry didn’t want to think about the possibilities Rose wouldn’t have run away with their kids. He didn’t want to go home; he wanted to stay in the hotel in New York and work.He didn’t want to care about his own empty life and he would have enough work to keep him preoccupied or anything to escape the emptiness growing inside him.
The sky darkened behind his as he walked over toward the wall-to-floor window, absorbed in concentration. Sometime time during absent minded, the elevator to his private suite opened.
He didn’t bother looking up. “Go away.”

“You look like something from my rubbish bin.”
Harry glared at James Carter beneath the shelf of his brows. “A disgusting waste, I’m touched.”
“Yeah, I’m always happy to help.”
Harry walked toward the sofas. “Do you need something? Or did run out of entertainment for Lillian?”
James sighed. “Nah, Lillian left for Aspen for Christmas. It Friday night, so yeah you are something that I need to entertain till I left for Aspen.”
“Go away and leave me alone.”

James slanted him a look. “You’re the crankiest person when your heart’s broken.”
Harry just nodded, as James gave him a glass of whatever strong drinks that he could find in the bar.
“Care to share?”
“Nope.” He didn’t want to share the fact that it two days till Christmas and his wife had left him and ran away with their children.
“Harry, this is killing you.”
“Whatever.” It is fault that his family had left him.
James tapped his fingers on his wine glass. “That’s not going to get them back.”
“Screw that,” Harry growled. “I did nothing wrong.” Small comfort. He didn’t want to back to their house because he couldn’t handle sleeping in their bed without or the house itself that would now be filled with silent and void.

“It’s no way to live, Harry.”
Existing was a better description. The thought of going through the rest of his life with his family amounted hell. His eyes stung hotly. He blinked, took a long pull of his drink, that he barely even tasted it.
“Nothing makes sense without them,” Harry admitted. “I don’t know. I guess somehow she thinks that I’m leaving her and the kids.”
“Have you told her that?”
“I think so.” Harry slapped his palms on the table. “I don’t know. You think you’re doing things right until it always went wrong before you realised that you’re not.”
“Welcome to the show, you’ve got yourself a permanent front row seat….” But James was cut out by the buzz of Harry’s phone, but Harry ignores the call.
“Well is it too late to get a refund?” But his phone kept on ringing till James answered the call.
“Harry I think that you have to answer this call.” Harry slowly took the phone from James as he answer the call, “Hello!” but the voice send his body into shock mode.
“Dad, Mummy is really sick and we need you. Please daddy, come back ho…” said Aria before the call was cut short.

Harry tried to call the number put it was disconnected. “Aria needs me home and I have no idea where they are.”
He turned around to James, who scared to make eyes contract with him. “Do you know where my family is?” But James was quiet and Harry took that as an answer to his question.
“Okay, they are in Aspen. Mel called Lilli about being sick and it wasn’t something that they could discuss on phone.”
“Then you’re coming with me now to Aspen.”

Aria POV

Ever since mum returned from New York without dad, things at home have been weird. But Aria wanted to shield Eddie from knowing the fact that mum and dad were having rough time.
They were on their private plane, Aspen were mum wasn’t to spend Christmas as family but dad was still missing.

When they arrived at their house in Aspen, Aunty Lilli was there waiting as she welcome everyone inside the house. The yard was covered in snow and Aria loved the snow, and she can’t wait to teach Eddie how to ski.
Since it was night time that they arrived at Aspen, aunt Lilli made a cup of hot chocolate and biscuit before going to bed leaving mum and aunt Lilli.
That night was the first time she felt like her parents were divorce and they are going to be seeing their father during the weekend, if was the first time that Aria prayed.
“There Lord, Please don’t let my parents’ divorce. Please bring them back together to watch me and my baby brother Eddie, to grow up and be happy like they are.”
During the night, Aria couldn’t sleep as she cried through-out the whole night. The next day was spent decorating the house in the holiday spirit. While mum was inside, Eddie, aunt Lilli and Aria went out to play snow ball fight. The late time the visited Aspen Eddie was a little baby and mum was scared that he would be sick.

After playing outside with the snow, Aria was concerned about her mother all by herself inside the house. So she made a quickly ran toward the house in search of her.She went into the kitchen, living room but her mum was missing so she decided to check upstairs in her room, where she found her lying on the cold hard floor not breathing.
She screamed as she ran down the stairs to her aunt, who quickly ran towards the house and into their mum’s room.
“Ari, what wrong with mummy,” asked Eddie, who was confused by what happening to their mum. Aria took Eddie and carried him into their room, while she comforts him, “Mummy is going to be fine, Eddie. She is just cold.” Aria tried to take comforts in her own word and she prayed that their mum was fine and would be awake.

Aria picked up the phone as she called their dad, to inform him about their mum being sick. The first called was ignored, she wanted to give-up but she tried one more time and the call was accepted but it was Uncle James who answered.
She waited for a while as Uncle James gave her dad the phone, the moment she heard her dad voice she began to cry.
“Dad, Mummy is really sick and we need you. Please daddy, come back ho…” she said before aunt Lilli took the phone from her.
“Your mum is fine and she wants to see you.”
Aria was scared as she walked toward her mum’s room; she opened the door and ran to hug her as she cried out in pain.

“Sorry, mum.”
“Your aunt said that you called dad?”
Aria just nodded, “Because we were scared, that something bad would happen.”
“Aria, nothing bad would happen.”
“But you were on the floor…”
“I’m fine. It just that your new baby brother or sister is making me weak and tired that all.”
“Baby?”

“Yes, Aria. Mummy is having another baby.”
Aria was so excited as she hugged her mum and younger brother and also knowing that the fuss all because of her little sibling, who she can’t wait to see.
