Challenges In Our Marriage
Chapter 1
Six years later………..
In London
Rose was in Harrison room, “Are you finish with your play toys?” Rose watched Harrison as he finished packing his toys in their drawers. Harrison is now three years old, and it was true when parents say that their kids grow up really quickly before you realised. She remembers the time when Harrison would wake up every two hour for breast feeding. But she still woke up every night and happily fed her son. Harry and Aria did their parts, Harry by being on diaper duties and Aria just being an amazing elder sister to Harrison. Sometimes they both tried staying awake in the first three months, but most nights fell asleep at her side or on the couch as she met Harrison’s needs.
Her thoughts were interrupted by footsteps. Harry stood in the doorway with a silly smile on his face. “I thought I’d find the two of you in here.”
Harrison heard his father voice and smiled running towards him, hugging his leg as Harry carried him. “Do you hear your daddy?”
“Yes dada.”
Harry placed Harrison back on his changer, for Rose to finish dressing him up. He looked down and Harrison blinked his precious green eyes toward Harry that caused him to be happy knowing that their two kids brought so much joy to their lives and of cause he finally loved his wife dearly.
Rose adjusted her clothing and noticed that Harry has changed from causal Saturday clothes to a suit and tie. “Do you have to go to the office?”It was their anniversary, and their intention like every year was to stay home for a quiet dinner with the kids. “What husband would leave their wife on their wedding anniversary?”
Harrison let out a laugh. “Exactly,” Harry said.
“Then why the change?”
“Because I have a surprise.”
Rose stood and narrowed her eyes. “What kind of surprise?” Harry took her hand and led her down the stairs and into the formal lounge room. The smell of flowers arrested her nose before she walked in. The Rose saw them, all of their families and friends. “What’s going on?”
“SURPRISE!” Aria waved from the podium that was decorated with flowers around it. “Aria I thought that surprise parties were only for birthdays, not anniversaries.”
Anne and Claire moved to Rose’s side. “Where is our beautiful grandson?” Anne took Harrison from Harry’s arms; Claire leaned over and kissed both Rose’s cheeks in greeting. Harry tucked Rose into his arm. “They are all here for more than just an anniversary party.”
“They are?” asked Rose.
“Yep, they’re here for a wedding.”
Now Rose was confused. She looked around and didn’t see anyone unpaired couple besides Gwen and Liam, both of them just came out of a messy break-up. “Who?”
“Us.”
“Ok, I know that I’m still jetlagged from last night flight and a few of my brain cells might be fried but last I checked, we’re already married.”
Harry leaned forward and kissed the confusion away. When he lifted his lips from hers, he explained. “When we first got married, we deprived all our families and friends of witnessing our elopement. We both know the reason as to why… but now we have a three years old son and a ten years old daughter with our families and friends to witness this elopement. But I don’t want anyone to question my love for you ever again. We would renew our vows every six years.”
Rose displayed her guppy mouth. “Every six years?”
“Isn’t that romantic?” Gwen asked as she looked up at Liam, but Rose was focusing on Harry’s words. A crazy rush of tears gathered behind Rose’s eyes as she stared at her incredible, loving husband. “You’re nuts. You know that, right?”
“I used more choice words than that,” Louis said.
“Don’t use them now, there are children among us,” Eleanor waved a finger in Louis’s direction and was met with a wink.
“So a wedding on every sixth anniversary?” Harry nodded once. “As simple or elaborate as you wish.” Gwen clapped her hands. “Oh, I want the next one and I have the perfect theme for it.”
Oh Lord, this crackpot group was jumping in feet first. Much like she did when she’d said I do to Harry the first time. “What the heck. I’m in.”
“That’s my girl.” Harry pulled her closer, the heat and comfort of his arms wound around her like a blanket.
“Sorry, I’m late,” called Lilli, as she rushed in with a suitcase. “Aria, Mel please follows me upstairs to get you ready for your wedding. And boys deal with Harry and Eddie.”
“I’ll tell the minister that we would be ready in twenty minutes,” Claire said as she walked away.
“I’ll check on the caterer.” Kaylee, Rose mum said as she started toward the kitchen with Gran behind her.
Rose walked toward Harry before heading upstairs to get ready for the ceremony. “When did you plan all this?” she asked as their family and friends filed out of the room with their children.
“While you and the kids were sleeping.”
Rose laughed and shortly after, she tried to hide the yawn behind her hand. “Well we had to fly here to be with you, so yeah.” Harry kissed her forehead. “Just don’t fall asleep before you say ‘I do.’”
Rose placed her palm on the side of Harry’s face and lifted up on her tiptoes. “Oh, I do! A thousand times over, I do!” then she sealed her vow with a butterfly-inducing kiss before following the girls.
