We're Not the Same
Dancing
Kayla
We'd done it. Niall Horan and I had actually managed to get married. I was more than thrilled about it, but at the same time I was relieved that the wedding was over and done with. My fears of him running out, even though they were proven foolish, had consumed my mind the whole morning, and I was glad I didn't have to stress about it any more.
Now we were across town at the restaurant for the reception. Our names were announced as Mr. and Mrs. Niall Horan, and everyone cheered as we walked into the room arm in arm. We took our seats at the front table with our families, although the table next to us seemed more more appealing, since that's where Addie and the rest of the boys were sitting. I waved at all of them quickly before Niall's mother began throwing questions at me.
"Kiss her, Niall!" I heard Zayn shout from his table. I looked over and found all of the boys looking back at us with goofy grins on their faces.
"Yeah, Niall, kiss her!" Harry called.
Soon everyone in the room joined in on the chants of, "Kiss her! Kiss her! Kiss her!"
Niall looked over at me and grinned before leaning in and pressing his lips against mine. Everyone yelled and clapped at us once again, and I could feel my face turn bright red. Niall reached underneath the table and took my hand in his.
Words couldn't describe my happiness. For months, people had doubted our relationship because we were both so young, but as Niall's bright blue eyes met mine, I knew without a doubt we'd made the right decision. It wouldn't be easy, but I knew we could do it.
After the food was served, everyone began to mingle, so I walked over to Addie and threw my arms around her. "I'm married! I actually did it."
She laughed at me and hugged me back. "I know. I'm seriously so proud of you. Honestly, I've been waiting all day for something to completely freak you out."
"Yeah, I would be offended by that but I've been waiting for it, too."
We laughed together, and suddenly I felt tears begin to burn in my eyes. Addie frowned and placed her hand on my arm. "What's the matter?"
"I'm just thinking of how when I get back from my honeymoon I have to start moving my stuff out," I said.
She rolled her eyes at me. "Kayla, stop it. We can cry about this when we're boxing up all your things, but this is your wedding night! You should be enjoying it with Niall instead of crying over here with me. Now go dance with your husband before I do."
I smiled as I looked across the room and locked eyes with Niall. I walked over to him and to his hand. "Come on, dance with me," I said to him. The song that Niall and I had picked for our first dance began to play as we stepped out into the middle of the floor.
"I love you," Niall said with a smile as his arm gripped tighter around my waist.
"I certainly hope so," I said, smiling back up at him. "Otherwise we've just wasted a whole lot of time and money on today."
"Don't you love me back?" he said, pretending to pout.
I stood on my toes, careful not to fall since I was still wearing my heels, and lightly kissed the tip of his freckled nose. "Yes, very much."
He chuckled softly and pulled me into his chest, where I stayed through the next few songs that played. After a while I even closed my eyes because I was so comfortable there in his arms.
Another song ended and Niall and I decided to stop dancing for a while and sit down. Almost everyone else was out on the dance floor anyway, so it wasn't like they were going to be paying attention to us. As we broke out of the crowd, I saw Harry sitting by himself in the corner. I turned to Niall and frowned. "What's wrong with Harry?"
Niall shook his head. "He's probably still upset that his date cancelled on him and he had to come by himself."
I just grinned and stared at Addie, who was still sitting at her table. "I think I can fix this."
I walked over to my best friend and sat down next to her. "Hey, can you do something for me?"
"Sure," she grinned, "what do you need?"
My eyes flickered to Harry and then back to her. "Go ask Harry to dance with you."
Addie's eyes widened and she began to furiously shake her head. "No. No way, Kayla. I'll do anything else you want, but not that."
"Come on!" I said, grabbing her head and pulling her out of her chair. "Look at him, he look so upset. You know you want to ask him, so stop being such a chicken!"
She crossed her arms. "Absolutely not. I am n-"
"Harry!" I called across the room. "Come here, Addie wants to dance with you!" I smirked back at Addie, who was glaring at me with her mouth hanging open.
Harry grinned crookedly as he approached the two of us. "Let's go," he spoke softly, taking Addie by the arm and leading her out to the dance floor.
She stared at me the whole time they were dancing, her expression a combination of anger and nervousness. Harry was looking down at with with a soft grin on his face, and it hit me even harder how lovely they would be together. I knew that if I could help Addie get past her shyness, they would be good for each other.
A few more songs played, and then it was time to cut the cake and serve it. This was apparently a big deal, but Niall and I were both eager to leave, so we scarfed down our slices and began saying our goodbyes.
Of course, I saved Addie for last.
"Have a good time on your honeymoon, okay?" she said. "When you get back, we'll spend the whole day talking about it and going over every detail. And Kayla, please don't stress too much about moving out."
"It's a little late for that," I muttered.
"It's really no big deal. Everything will be fine, I promise. Now go on, Niall is waiting for you!"
She hugged me one last time before pushing me in Niall's direction. He gave me a big smile and took my hand as we walked out of the building and headed for the airport.
