We had to fly back to Germany to get Katarina. All the paper works were done and because she already had met me, they let me get her myself. I were pretty nervous because I didn't know how her granmother reacts. She's supposed to know that I'm going there. Harry was with me.
"Hope she likes her room." Harry whispers and strokes my hair.
I nod and watch the clouds. "I hope so too."
We've bought her many things to one of our guest rooms which is now Katarina's room. In a hour we were in Germany and one of German social workers was in there and greeted us. Julia had talked with her and she was happy to meet her niece soon.
We went to her and she shook our hands. "It's great to meet you. Katarina is waiting in her grandmother's. Her grandmother is pretty shocked."
I nodded. "I'm sure she is. Can we leave already today?"
"Anytime you want." Social worker said and lead us into her car.
Harry kept my hand tight and he seemed to be nervous. I smiled at him when we were there and walked to the door. Social worker knocked the door and old lady came to open the door. They started to speak German but we heard our names during the conversation. She let us in and lead us into a living room. Katarina was there and drew something. She looked up and noticed me. She looked horrible. She looked like she hadn't slept at all. She ran to hug me and started to cry.
"Mommy." She whispered.
"I'm here, sweetie. You're safe." I whispered back and hugged her tight.
She leaned to hug Harry and wrapped her arms around his neck and I gave Katarina to Harry. He kept her carefully in his arms.
"Are Katarina's bags ready?" I asked from her grandmother.
Social worker interpreted the same and her grandmother nodded. She went to get them. I smiled at her and she smiled back weakly. I went to hug her. "Thank you for taking care of her."
She nodded when social worker had interpreted that to her. She went to hug Katarina and said something to her. Katarina nodded and wiped the tears away from her eyes.
"What did she say to her?" I asked quietly.
"That she have to be a good girl and even if she will miss Katarina, she knows she's safe because she's with her biological mum now."
I nodded and Harry shook old lady's hand and smiled at her. She hugged her quickly and came to me. She said something and took my hand. I looked at the social worker who smiled. "She said that you have to promise to take good care of her. And that she's now there where she belongs."
I started to cry. "I promise. Nothing will never ever hurt her."
She hugged me and I went to Harry's and took his hand. Then I watched to Katarina. "Are you ready?"
She looked at her grandmother who nodded. "I'm ready, mommy."
We left and went straight to the airport and to the plane. Katarina sat next to me. "Mommy, I'm scared."
"You don't have anything to scare, sweetie." I said and hugged her.
"What if those bad guys come after me?" She asked and tear rolled to her cheek. I wiped it away.
"No, they won't. If they do, we'll keep you safe." Harry whispered and took her hand.
"Are you my daddy now?" Katarina asked and looked at him.
I smiled weakly and so did Harry. "If you want to, darling."
She smiled at him and hugged him. Then she fell asleep and leaned her head to Harry's shoulder. At home we showed her room to her. She smiled widely and jumped to her bed. "I love this, mommy! This is perfect!"
I laughed quietly. "Glad you like this. We made it for you. Do you want to meet your uncles and aunties right away?"
She stopped jumping and blushed. I knew what was wrong. "You've already met them but they'd like to know you better."
Katarina smiled and nodded. She came to hug me.
"You know that you're safe now. That's the only thing that matters right now, sweetie."
She nodded and I kissed her cheek lightly. I hope nothing will ever ruin this happiness.
