A Dream I'd Never Dreamt

Prologue

I slowly slipped back into consciousness. This was happening on and off, thanks to the fact that I had been up all night working on a new song cover for the best people I know. And, that would be a lot, considering that those best people were my million subscribers I had just reached. And, to show my thankfulness and dedication to those milion subsribers on my YouTube channel, I was going to sing a cover of “Haunted” by Taylor Swift. I had been up all night, practicing the vocals, and I was exhausted. I glanced up at the small clock in my kitchen, noting to myself that I was now certifiably insane because I had just fallen asleep on the countertop in my apartment. It was four in the morning. I debated whether or not I should go to sleep, and decided that an hour under my belt was fine for now. I walked into the bathroom after deciding that my vocals sounded good enough.

“Jesus christ,” I muttered, looking at myself in the mirror. My deep brown eyes made me look intoxicated, and my tangled up messy bun at the top of my head, grouping my dark brown hair together just barely, not exactly helping my case. I could either pass for: A, a rebellious nineteen year-old girl who was extremely buzzed the night before, or B, a psychopathic murderer with a butcher knife hidden in my fairisle printed slipper boots. This, all added together, deemed a shower necessary for the viewers’ sake.

I stripped down and climbed into the shower, the hot water engulfing me in a sleepy bliss. Very sleepy. My eyes slightly began to droop as I rinsed out my strawberry scented shampoo, thus causing me to force myself to endure the rest of my shower in icy cold water. For lack of better words, that definitely woke me up. Once I was finished, I quickly shut off the teeth-chattering water, and wrapped myself up in a royal blue towel. I glanced once more in the mirror, wiping away the steam the shower left behind with my hand. I looked much more alert and awake now, maybe even slightly too much to that extent. My eyes were now between somewhere normal and popping out of my head. I dried myself off, and threw my pajamas back on to dry my hair. Once it was completely dry, I plugged in my curling iron. While it heated up, I dressed into something slightly more presentable for the occasion. Once I was completely ready, I grabbed my camcorder and tripod, and sat down on my bed to film the video.

I turned on the camera and smiled at the camera. “Hey, you guys! This video is going to be for my million subscribers. So, I hope all of you guys enjoy it. This is Haunted, by Taylor Swift.”

I cleared my throat and picked up the guitar, slowly beginning to strum the proper chords. As I did, I began to sing.

“You and I walk a fragile line, I have known it all this time, but I never thought I’d live to see it break
It’s getting dark and it’s all too quiet, and I can’t trust anything now, and it’s coming over you like it’s all a big mistake
Oh, I’m holding my breath, won’t lose you again, something’s made your eyes go cold
Come on, come on, don’t leave me like this, I thought I had you figured out
Something’s gone terribly wrong, you’re all I wanted
Come on, come on, don’t leave me like this, I thought I had you figured out
Can’t breath whenever you’re gone, can’t turn back, now I’m haunted

Stood there and watched you walk away
From everything we had
But I still mean every word I said to you
He would try to take away my pain
And he just might make me smile
But the whole time I'm wishing he was you instead
Oh, I'm holding my breath
Won't see you again
something keeps me holding on to nothing
Come on, come on, don't leave me like this
I thought I had you figured out
Something's gone terribly wrong
You're all I wanted
Come on, come on, don't leave me like this
I thought I had you figured out
Can't breathe whenever you're gone
Can't turn back now, I'm haunted

I know, I know, I just know
You're not gone. You can't be gone. No.
Come on, come on, don't leave me like this
I thought I had you figured out
Something's gone terribly wrong
Won't finish what you started
Come on, come on, don't leave me like this
I thought I had you figured out
Can't breathe whenever you're gone
Can't go back, I'm haunted
Oh

You and I walk a fragile line
I have known it all this time
Never ever thought I'd see it break.
Never thought I'd see it...”

I finished the song and smiled to the camera. “Thanks a lot, to all of you guys. Without you, none of this would have happened. Believe me, I know this is cheesy, but it’s true. I love you guys. Bye!”

I closed off the video and spent the next five and a half hours of my time editing every bit of it, uploading it with all of my details in the decription after I finished. Not much unusual feedback came, except for one or two crazed fans. Until, at about five at night. That’s when my life turned upside down. When I, Allie Franco, was given a deal at Syco Records by Simon Cowell.
