A love worth waiting
my my my...
After getting off the bus I walked back to my house. When I opened my door I heard my mother's 'hello' all the way in the kitchen. I through my backpack on the steps and went to greet her in the kitchen.
"hey mom. Ooh cookies!" I reached for one of her delicious snickerdoodles but she swatted my hand away.
"no ma'am these are for the people in the neighborhood" she gave me a warm smile.
"no I am not!" I shouted knowing to what she was leading on. She expected me to walk around the neighborhood handing these perfect cookies out to strangers. no. Never. "Fine"
---------
"This is stupid" I pouted, dragging my vans across the sidewalk. I walked up too the first house equally as big as ours and was greeted by a blonde haired woman in her early thirties to fourties.
"hello there are those- ooh! My well isn't that thoughtful" she smiled warmly at me.
"they are from my mother and our family. We are new to the neighborhood and she forced me. Want a cookie?" I handed it to her, pointed at my house across the street, and left.
the next house had a little less glamour but was still surprisingly beautiful nevertheless. I knocked and was greeted horribly. It had to be Corbin. Out of all the people to run into it had to be her. "What are you doing here?" We asked in unison.
"umm I live here" she rested her hip against the door frame.
"well then take a stupid cookie so I can leave" I shoved the plate in her direction.
"cookies are fattening" she shoved the plate away, " well why are you at my house?" She glared at me.
"i have to give cookies to every person in the neighborhood. Trust me true feelings mutual" I dropped the cookie in front of her and walked away.
when I got home my mom was talking with the blonde woman I first gave a cookie too.
"hey sweetie this is Maura. I'm going to be going back to work so now after school you will be going to her house. Sound good?" She chirped at me.
"peachy. I'm going to go think about my issues alone for while mom. Call me down when dinners done will ya? Thinks love you mom" I reached my door not fully hearing her response.
I still love it!
