New Years Eve.
Finally.
-Charlotte’s POV.-
Finally we’d made it. Saturday December 28th 2016, 12pm and we had just arrived in New York City. Lydia and I had been planning this trip practically our whole life and to come at the most magical time, New Year, we were completely overwhelmed. We’d spent countless New Years’ in London watching the fireworks, but it just wasn’t the same. We’d dropped all our stuff into the apartment we were staying in for the next month, leaving just after our 19th birthdays, and we were off to explore.
We were 2 and a half hours into ‘exploring’ and it goes without saying we were MAJORLY lost.
“You know what, I don’t even think you’re holding the map the right way round.” Lydia pointed out clearly annoyed.
“As if you’d know,” I said. “You can barely read a book.” Lydia rolled her eyes.
I held the map out in front of them and examined it clearly before sighing; “It’s definitely this way, just stop complaining. I told you not to put those shoes on.”
“Well at least I wrapped up warm Mrs Crop top, jeans and worlds thinnest coat.
“IT’S A CROPPED JUMP-”
...and that’s when it happened. Me being stupid me was totally not watching where I was going and walked right into someone and landed hard on the floor. “Oh my god I’m so sorry I wasn’t looking where I was going.” I said as I tried to help myself up.
“It’s fine don’t worry, that was partly my fault too.” Replied a rough British accent. The stranger held out a hand and as I took it I looked up into the most beautiful green eyes i’d ever seen. Oh shit, perfect. Just my luck. I’d walked into Harry bloody Styles. As I got up he opened his mouth to speak again; “Careful where you’re going there...”
“Charlotte,” I filled in “Sorry again!”
He chuckled “Well Charlotte, I’m Harry. Nice to meet you” We shook hands. “Do I hear a British accent?” He asked smiling.
Lydia nudged me out the way slightly before replying “Yeah, you do” she batted her eyelids. “We’re from Chester.”
“No way, me too!” Replied Harry, looking into my eyes the whole time, completely ignoring Lydia.
“Yeah,” I blushed. “We know.”
“Well mate, I hate to kill the party but we’re gonna be late” Said a low Irish accent from behind Harry. He extended his hand towards me. “Niall, nice to meet you beautiful.” And winked.
“Charlotte,” I smiled as I shook his hand. “And this is Lydia.” Who is getting slightly annoyed about being ignored I thought to add... but decided against it.
“Before you guys go, sorry to be a bug but could you direct us to the Empire State Building?” Lydia flirted. “We’re really lost.”
“Anything for two lovely ladies like yourselves, Zayn by the way.” Ah Zayn, the one member of One Direction that really did make Lydia weak at the knees. Even though she was shamelessly flirting with Niall and Harry, Lydia actually isn’t a big fan of One Direction like me. But boy, the things she’d do to Zayn. Zayn gave us directions to the Empire State and just before we left Harry and I swapped numbers. From the corner of my eye I could see Niall looking slightly annoyed but I shrugged it off. “Thanks so much you guys, hopefully see you soon!” I shouted as we departed.
“I wonder how long their in New York for?” Lydia thought out loud. But, I couldn’t reply because after 5 years of supporting the boys I’d finally got my chance to meet them and it would be a lie to say I wasn’t totally internally fangirling like hell right now. It would also be a lie to say that even though Harry and I had swapped numbers, I had major butterflies when Niall winked at me...
