Flashes in Time

Chapter Six

“Mirabelle, wake up.”Harry whispered, poking her cheeks. Mirabelle groaned, covering her face with the duvet.

“No.”

“Mirabelle, wake up.”

“Leave me alone.”

“I have donuts.” Harry cooed. “Strawberry donuts.”

“No.”

Harry’s eyes widened. He thought she would actually wake up to the mention of donuts. Mirabelle still wasn’t over Harry keeping his secret. He wished she would get over it, but Mirabelle had other plans.

“Mirabelle, get up. It’s noon and I have a surprise for you.”

“You can’t bribe me with a surprise.” Mirabelle scoffed into her pillow, kicking her leg in attempt to kick Harry.

“Oh come on. You’ll love it.” Harry grinned.

“Go. Away.”

“Mirabelle Sedora. If you do not get up this second, I will eat all the donuts that are on the table waiting for you.”

“I’m up!” Mirabelle yelled suddenly, sitting up frantically.

“That’s more like it.”

“What was the point of getting up, anyways? I’m tired.” Mirabelle whined, rubbing her eyes.

“We,” a new voice boomed, “are the reason.”

One by one, Harry’s bandmates made their way into Mirabelle’s bedroom. Mirabelle sat in bed, completely shocked. Though she had never really cared about boys, she suddenly began thinking about her morning breath, her morning voice, and her sleep wear.

“Hello, love.” A boy with chestnut brown hair grinned. “I’m Louis.” He made his way to her and kissed her cheek. Mirabelle felt her muscles tense. She wasn’t used to the whole “touchy-feely” concept.

Harry noticed this, lightly kicking Louis in the shin, telling Louis with his eyes, not to make much contact. Louis gave Harry a little nod.

“I’m Zayn,” a handsome boy with jet-black styled hair introduced, smiling at her with a small wave. Mirabelle managed to smile back.

“Well, you’ve gone a bit quiet.” A more responsible sounding boy smiled, leaning up against the wall. “I’m Liam, and you’ll love me much more than these idiots.”

“Hey! You are not the one who brought her…” the blonde boy winked at Mirabelle, “Donuts.”

Mirabelle squealed happily, holding her hands out.

“Are they strawberry?” she asked, letting out a small giggle.

“Of course.” The blonde boy nodded, handing her the small box of donuts. “I’m Niall.”

“Because you brought me donuts, you are my favorite.” Mirabelle declared, confirming it with a certain nod. The boys watched as Mirabelle devoured the donuts in bed, not caring who was watching her.

“Is she always like this?” Zayn leaned over to whisper to Harry.

“Pretty much, mate.” Harry whispered back. Zayn chuckled quietly, slipping his phone out of his pocket.

Liam and Louis had also quickly taken out their phones to catch another message or tweet.

“So this is what you famous bastards do all day, yeah?” Mirabelle spoke suddenly, causing the boys to jump.

“No.” Louis sassed, snapping his fingers. “Actually, we’re very fun people.”

“And why should I believe that?” Mirabelle sassed back, straightening her spine to give Louis a sassy look.

“Well, you could just watch our various videos on YouTube.” Niall smirked, eyeing the donuts in Mirabelle’s hands.

“Woah. These are mine.” Mirabelle claimed, holding the box of donuts tightly to her chest. Niall rolled his eyes, shooting her a smile.

“See, Mirabelle here, thinks that I am a stuck up celebrity who doesn’t know how to live normally.” Harry snorted, sitting at the corner of the bed. Mirabelle attempted to kick him off, but failed.

“She also doesn’t know how to control her reflexes, I see.” Zayn laughed lightly, giving Mirabelle a warm smile.

Mirabelle didn’t like all these people around her. She enjoyed the past days in her room, avoiding Harry. She liked to keep to herself and enjoy her alone time. But of course, four more celebrities were standing in her room.

How fortunate for her.

“Well, I’m going to shower.” Mirabelle said, getting out of the bed. One of the boys stuck on their foot, tripping Mirabelle.

“Who the hell-“

“See. We are not boring.” Louis grinned, putting his hands on his hips.

“Oh that’s right,” Mirabelle growled. “You guys aren’t boring. You guys are jerks.”

Mirabelle slammed the bathroom door shut.

“Way to go, Lou.”

Mirabelle sat silently on the couch as the boys stared at each other, no one making eye contact with her. She was amused. Were they afraid of her or something?

Harry sat stiffly beside Liam, wishing that Mirabelle would realize how fun they really were. She was so stubborn sometimes, it was hard to control her.

“Let’s play a game.” Louis suggested, smiling lazily on the couch.

“Yes. That’s a good idea, right?” Liam agreed, looking at Mirabelle. Mirabelle shrugged, picking at her nails as if she didn’t care. And honestly, she didn’t.

“How about truth or dare?”

“That would turn out dirty.” Mirabelle smirked, as if she knew how dirty they five of those boys could really be.

“Which makes it all the better.” Louis shot back, giving Mirabelle a challenging grin. Mirabelle narrowed his eyes at him.

“Fine.” She huffed. “Langston, or Logan, or whatever your name is,” she gestured to Louis. “Truth or dare?”

Louis rolled his eyes. “First of all, it’s Louis. Second, dare.”

“Fine, Langston, I dare you to kiss donut boy. On the lips.”

“Well, this is a start.” Zayn smirked, watching as Niall made a face.

“That’s my girl.” Harry chuckled to himself, watching as Louis nervously made his way to Niall.
“Just don’t make a huge deal about it.” Louis whispered to Niall.

Louis pecked Niall’s lips ever so quickly, backing away instantly. He shot Mirabelle a triumphant glare.

“My turn. Norabella, or Bellanora, or whatever your name is, truth or dare?” Louis asked mockingly.

“First of all, it’s Mirabelle. Second, truth.”

Louis smiled. “I’ll go easy on you this time.” He started. “Is it true that you would rather date Harry than either of us?”

Mirabelle laughed. “False. I would date donut boy, so we could eat donuts all day.” She answered seriously.

“One point for Niall!” Niall shouted, flashing Mirabelle a grin. She rolled her eyes, blushing for no reason.

Harry on the other hand, couldn’t help but let his smile drop. For the first time in a while, he cared a lot about a girl, who apparently would rather eat donuts all day than date him. Harry felt rather pathetic in that case. Then again, it was no doubt that Mirabelle was different that those girls who fell to his feet and praised him.

“Aye, Harold. You in there?” Someone yelled, bringing Harry back to reality.

“What?”

“I said, truth or dare.” Zayn said, waggling his dark eyebrows.

“Erm, dare.”

“I dare you to list every single girl you have dated in your entire life.”

Harry froze. If he told Mirabelle, she would hate him. She would despise of him. She would probably want to kick him out of his own house. Not because she liked him, but because she already had suspicions of him being a player. Harry tried to reason with Zayn, but Zayn stayed persistent.

“Fine.” Harry sighed. “I guess my first proper girlfriend was Felicity Skinner.”

“The only proper one.” Louis snickered from beside Liam. Harry glared at him.

“I’ve dated Cher Lloyd, Caroline Flack, Georgia Jagger, Lily Halpern, Sarah Colivert, oh god.”

“Keep going, lad. There’s at least fifteen more.” Niall teased, leaning back in his chair.

“This is so embarrassing.” Harry mumbled, “Emma Ostilly, Emily Atack, Lily Alberon, and Taylor Swift.”

The room fell into a deep silence.

Then, the boys burst out laughing. Harry glanced at Mirabelle, who looked uncomfortable by the situation.

“Can’t stick to one girl, can you Styles?” Mirabelle managed to chuckle.

Harry shrugged, unable to hide the growing blush on his face.

“Alright, Harry it’s your turn.” Liam piped up, sensing the tension between Harry and Mirabelle.
“Niall, truth or dare?”

“Dare.” He answered confidently.

“I dare you to eat all the donuts from Mirabelle’s’ donut box.” Harry smirked. Mirabelle would beat Niall up for it, and Harry knew it. Niall’s face expression changed, the blonde boy becoming terrified.

That dare did not end nicely.

After the boys had left Harry’s flat, Mirabelle sat alone in the living room. Harry had disappeared to his room, telling Mirabelle to get comfortable. She still couldn’t believe he had dated all those girls. Mirabelle felt hopeless. She knew she was nothing compared to those people, even if she had never seen or met them.

Absently, Mirabelle raised her shirt up and stared at the cut on my stomach that was starting to heal. It would leave an ugly scar, just as her other cuts had. Mirabelle stared, disgusted at her skin. She didn’t know how the cuts had gotten there, nor the large one that seemed serious.

Her mind trailed back to the news report, about the screaming in her household. Maybe she had been the victim. Maybe she hadn’t been the one who caused the screaming. But then again, maybe she had.

Mirabelle could not see herself killing someone, or hurting someone physically. She suddenly chuckled at the thought of her beating Niall up for eating her donuts. Besides that, she had never hurt anyone. Not that she could remember.

Mirabelle gazed out at the large blue pool sitting with calm water right outside the large glass windows of Harry’s house. She now understood how he could afford such a household – he was famous. He had the money. He was rich. He could take care of Mirabelle without worrying financially. Mirabelle still didn’t like that fact that he had kept that from her.

She realized that even though they didn’t know each other very well, he was very much the only person she could trust even a little bit right at the moment. His band mates may be an option in the future, but in Mirabelle’s life, it was now only Harry and her.

Harry seemed sweet enough. He hadn’t tried anything, honestly he had been very caring. Mirabelle smiled at the thought of him bringing her donuts every morning for the past fifteen days, greeting her daily. He never failed to get her out of bed feeling like she could expect a good day ahead.

Mirabelle fiddled with a necklace around her neck, trying to figure out why she still had that same bit of hatred towards Harry. Or boys in general. She tried, but she couldn’t figure out why. But it was like something at the back of her head was telling her that boys would only bring bad luck.

Mirabelle was one who went with her guts.
