District 4
I quickly dove behind a bush and hid as a group of girls walked by.
I gasped. At the front of the crowd was the girl from my dreams.
JAY’S P.O.V.
I hid behind that bush, trying my best not to make a sound as the big group passes by. I moved away some leaves so I could see. The snow on the leaves fell on my already cold fingers, sending pain through my fingertips. I ignored it. My eyes fixed on the girl at the front. I don’t have fortune telling powers do I? I hope my dream was wrong.
She turned around and stared right at me.
I froze, not sure what to do. I’m disguised right? She can’t see me… My eyes met with hers. I hope she doesn’t see an eye poking out of a bush.
She looked away and they moved on.
Phew.
I heard a growling sound behind me. Ugh, probably some stupid girl making noise. I was about to tell her to be quiet when I realized something.
I don’t have allies with me.
I slowly turned around. At first I saw the red mane, which is caked with blood, then the teeth, then the eyes, then the claws...
A lion.
I stared at it, my eyes wide. It growled at me. I heard a voice at the back of my head, “no sudden movements or your blood will be the fresh new coat on his mane.”
I stood up as slowly as I can. Its beady little eyes stared right at me. It bared its teeth, I can see the remainders of its last meal still fresh on its teeth. It growled and I flinched.
No. Sudden. Movements.
I slowly took a step back, it watched me. This is good, I think I can make it out in time before this thing chews me up.
“Lion!” A high pitched scream came out of the snowy trees. I whipped around and it’s one of the retarded little 10 year olds, standing there with fear written all over her face. Are you fucking kidding me? I was doing so well.
I turned back around just to see the lion charge towards me.
