District 4
I turned around to see the girl’s pocket knife fly right at me.
I felt my arm burn as I screamed.
JAY’S P.O.V.
My blood flooded out of the wound. My arm felt like it was on fire. Tears flew down my face in pain. The girl who threw the knife smiled nastily and turned away. I pulled the knife out and ran as far as I could, the loss of blood is draining a lot of energy from my body. Soon, I felt dizzy as I sat down and leaned against a tree.
I examined my wound. It doesn’t feel as bad as before but the blood was still flowing strongly. I quickly wiped away the tears and unpacked the life pack just in case there was a bandage or some medicine inside.
There’s a small pack of dried fruits, which I quickly ate some, hoping to recover some of my energy. Then I pulled out a water bottle with some frozen ice in it, totally useful *sarcasm*. There’s a rope, which I don’t know what to do with it, a map showing all the water sources… or should I say, ICE sources.
I pulled the sweater over my head. I winced as it touched the wound on my arm.
At the bottom of the bag, there’s a small bottle with some creamy things inside. I picked it up and examined it.
“Preventing frostbite,” I read the label quietly, “apply on exposed skin.”
Nice.
I rubbed some over my hands and my feet, they immediately begun to warm up. I hesitated for a second before rubbing it on my face. I don’t want a ton of clogged pores but it’s better than dying.
Lastly, I found a roll of white bandages.
“Thank god,” I mumbled as I quickly wrapped some over my arm. The blood soaked through a bit but it was good enough.
Suddenly, I heard some laughter and branches snapping from a distance away. I quickly dove behind a bush and hid as a group of girls walked by.
I gasped.
At the front of the crowd was the girl from my dreams.
