SHELBEY’S P.O.V.

Me and Maya already promised to be each other’s allies. I was nervously glancing at Maya as we were getting off the plane. I heard some of the other districts got really bad settings like one of them even got a desert! Seriously? How are you suppose to last more than a few days in the desert? I clasped my hands together and prayed that we would get a good setting.

I looked around as we got off. All I see is trees. This must be a forest, thank god!
“Whoever designed this, god bless you.” I whispered quietly.

My eyes immediately laid on the life packs next. Everyone will be fighting to death for this, I have to set my goal on a pack near me so I can pick up the weapon and slash off anyone in my way.

I stood on my station as a voice called out.

“Welcome to the 2nd annual Directioner Game of District 3. The game will start in 10, 9, 8, 7…”

I positioned my feet so I’m ready to sprint for the nearest pack.

“3, 2, 1, GO!”

I dashed out, my eyes staying on the red pack I’m aiming for. All around me, I see girls fist fighting over a large life pack. Everyone is scrambled everywhere. Hair flying.

I reached my pack and pulled off the weapon attached to it-

An axe.

I turned around just to see a girl jumping towards me like a wild animal. She pulled my ponytail hard. Pain burst through my scalp. I screamed and waved my axe around like a madman. I ended up whacking her in the face with the back of the axe. She fell to the ground and scrambles to get away but I was faster. I grabbed her by the collar of her suit and throws down my axe.

Blood soaks all over her suit as she stares at me. Pain, regret, and anger in her eyes. They slowly loose life as she died. I took my axe out from her body and looked at it, it’s dripping with fresh blood.
