HELEN’S P.O.V.

It’s the 28th of February, the day of the games.

I’ve tried my best to stay outta everyone’s way, I think I’ll be fine.

I stuffed myself with everything I can find at breakfast. I have a feeling this will be the last time I eat in a while.

I’ve done my best with the bow and arrow and honestly, I suck. There’s no way I can win this thing. The best I can do right now is stay alive for as long as possible. Rumors are going around that One Direction will be watching this and helping the girls they like. I doubt I’ll be one of those lucky girls.

All the tributes hoped into an airplane. The plane will take us to the land where we’ll be fighting each other to death. I looked around at all the Liam girls. Some of them seem nervous. While others chatted excitedly with their friends. A few of them are still practicing for the games. They’re doing some “warm-up” activities like push-ups and sit-ups. One girl at the back was continuously puking out of the window. I wonder if the puke landed on anyone’s head.

After a few days I’ve gotten used to these people. It’s sad to think that we’ll be killing each other later.

I was shaking like mad. I stayed in my seat, not talking to anyone. I don’t want to make friends that I’ll have to kill later. Hopefully I’ll survive just by hiding, which would be way too easy.

The plane lowers. I look out the window to see where our district will be held.

My stomach tied itself into knots.

“Fuck,” I said to myself.

Below is a gigantic lake, big enough to be an ocean.

And I can’t swim.
