World Tour

Fifty Children

***Louis Tomlinson***
Saturday, August 11th, 2012 – North London, England

Harry was really quiet after Abby left, and I knew he felt bad for his outburst. I knew Abby would get over it – she seemed to bounce back from things pretty quick, from what I knew about her. And secretly, I was kind of glad they had argued like that because it lead them to figure out how to be friends. I hoped all the Abby/Harry tension was behind us now. By dinner time, though, he was still pretty withdrawn. We were on the couch, having had a movie marathon that afternoon because we were both pretty depressed from that morning’s fight with the guys. Finally, I looked at Harry.

"So, guess what?” I said, trying to sound excited.

“What?” he asked in a monotone.

“I have a dilemma. I have absolutely nothing to do tomorrow, and I have this perfect boyfriend who has been wanting to try the new bakery down the street. I just can’t decide if I want to take him there for breakfast first and then spend the day with him, or spend the day with him and then take him there for dessert after dinner. What do you think?” A slow smile spread across Harry’s face.

“I think your boyfriend won’t care when you go as long as he gets you to himself the entire day.” I smiled.

“I am all yours tomorrow,” I promised him. “No phone, no answering the door, nothing. Just you and me.”

“Really?” Harry’s eyes lit up, making me smile. I nodded.

“Promise,” I kissed him, and his spirits seemed to heighten after that.

The next day, we did exactly that. We went to the bakery for breakfast, and then went back home and laid down together in Harry’s bed, just cuddling in silence for awhile. Eventually, he spoke.

“Do you think one of us should turn our phone on?” he suggested. “In case Liam needs us?” I sighed.

“It’s probably a good idea,” I said. “Although, I’m not sure we’d be the first ones on his list of people to call…or even on his list at all.”

“Do you really think we’ll work it out?”

“Of course,” I said, wanting so badly to believe that. “We just need a few days for all of us to calm down.”

“Do you realize that we never fought with them like that until you and I started dating?” Harry asked. I nodded. It was true – before, the only fights that happened among us were only between two of us; never the whole band.

“I wouldn’t worry about that, Harry,” I said. “We’ve all been around each other so much for so long, we were bound to fight eventually. I don’t think it’s directly correlated to you and me dating.”

“I don’t want One Direction to break up,” Harry said, sadly. I looked at him.

“Hey,” I said. “We won’t. I won’t let that happen, I promise.”

“What if they don’t show up tomorrow?” Harry asked. We had a recording session the next morning, and then we had a meet and greet on Wednesday two hours away that would require the five of us to have to take the tour bus. I was not looking forward to it.

“They will, Love,” I told Harry, knowing he was worried.

“Louis, what would happen to us if the band did break up?” his eyes were full of fear. I pulled him close and rubbed his back.

“It won’t,” I said again. “But if it did, then you and I would still have each other. It would suck, but we would get through it together, okay?”

“I know deep down that someday it will break up,” Harry mused. “I just don’t want that to be anytime soon. I mean, it’s weird to think about the future, isn’t it?”

“Not really,” I shrugged. “I already know how it’ll look. You and me at our mansion in London with our fifty children running around, playing with our pet chimpanzee.”

“Fifty children?” Harry asked me, his voice now sounding amused instead of sad.

“At least,” I said. It was the first time we had really talked about spending forever together. Harry was quiet for a minute before he spoke again.

“That sounds nice, Louis,” he said. “And when it’s legal, we can have a beach wedding with both of our families the – shit, Lou, I’m sorry,” he sighed when he realized what he’d said. I squeezed him tight in reassurance.

“It’s okay,” I whispered. I still didn’t like to talk about it. “A beach wedding sounds nice.” Harry looked deep into my eyes.

“You would really want to spend the rest of your life with me?” he asked. I felt tingles in my whole body.

“I do want to,” I told him, seriously.

“God, Louis, me too,” Harry kissed me passionately, and I was surprised that he was surprised about that. Maybe I really was worse than I thought at letting people know I cared.

“Harry,” I gasped, feeling emotional and vulnerable now.
“I love you, always and forever. That’s never going to change. You’re my soul mate.”

“You’re mine, too,” Harry whispered. He hugged me for a long time, and then we spent the rest of the day in bed.
