I had never felt closer to Louis than I had while we were talking after we made up. He opened up to me more than he ever had before, and it made me feel so much better (well, that and the fact that we were officially back together). It was amazing how quickly my heart healed – just listening to him talk about how much he cared and loved and missed me almost made all the pain from the past week and a half worth it. I still had some bruises inside, but I finally felt like they would go away in time. Maybe I’d even actually finally find out what true happiness felt like, which I now knew could only be achieved with Louis by my side.
We woke up on Thursday morning with our bodies still completely intertwined. It was the best sleep I’d gotten in awhile, and I never wanted to miss someone the way I had missed Louis again. I never wanted to go to bed or wake up without him again. He was truly The One for me.
I watched my boyfriend (ahh, it felt so good to be able to say that again) sleep for awhile, and then his eyes fluttered open. His face quickly went from sleepy to happy when he saw me, which made me smile as well.
“Morning, Love,” he said. My heart melted, and I couldn’t contain the goofy grin on my face.
“Morning,” I kissed the tip of Louis’s nose, and he scrunched up his face, still smiling. I just looked at him for a minute, unable to tear my eyes away. In fact, I didn’t want to ever stop touching or looking at him again, afraid I might lose him for good if I did.
“What?” he asked, curious as to why I was staring at him.
“I’m just surprised you haven’t nagged me to make you breakfast yet,” I teased.
“I don’t nag,” he gasped, pretending to be offended. I raised my eyebrows. “Okay, okay, I nag,” he gave in, grinning. “But only about food, and only because you are the world’s best cook.”
“Suck up,” I accused. But he still didn’t say anything more about breakfast, and I looked at him, worried that maybe he still didn’t have an appetite. “Not hungry?” I asked.
“I just don’t want to move out of this position yet,” he told me, squeezing me. I kissed him to show him how much it meant to me that he not only felt that way, but was able to voice it. He was already trying to make this work, and I loved him for that.
Eventually, though, my bladder won, and I had to get up and go to the bathroom. Then we went downstairs and I made breakfast, and I felt like I was in heaven. It was almost better this time around than it had been when we’d first gotten together back in January, because this time, I knew exactly where he was at, as well.
I texted Liam, Niall, and Zayn to see if they could come over for lunch. I told them I would make a taco bar and that there I was something I wanted to talk to them about. I didn’t mention anything about Louis in the text or us getting back together, knowing it would drive them insane all morning wondering what I wanted to say. They all agreed to come, so Louis and I went to the store and got all the fixings for tacos. We took turns pushing each other down the aisles on the end of the shopping cart, laughing, surprised we didn’t get kicked out. It felt so good to be back – I felt free.
