No Regrets

***Harry Styles***
Thursday, July 12th, 2012 – Anaheim, California, USA

“Harry,” Louis said as I collapsed to my knees, angry with myself for saying what I had meant to keep to myself, at least during this trip. He knelt down in front of me and tilted my chin up to look at him. “You’re not going to lose me. And none of this is your fault.”

“It’s all my fault,” I protested. “I’m the reason you left the hotel in the first place! And I’ve been trying so hard to help you through this but I haven’t been fair to you because you’re taking on the guilt when really it’s my burden to bear, and because of that I haven’t been able to be there for you.” I sniffled and looked away.

“You’ve done an amazing job of being there for me,” Louis said, placing his hands on my shoulders. “And just because I’m going through something doesn’t mean you can’t be or that I can’t be there for you, too.” I took a deep, shaky breath. “Harry,” he continued. “What have you been telling me this whole time? That I need to forgive myself. Wrynn said the same thing. You need to forgive yourself, too.”

“I don’t know how,” I told him, honestly. “I mean, Louis, your life was endangered because of me.”

“My life has meaning because of you,” he replied. I almost smiled. “And, Harry, I’m not sure how to forgive myself either, but we can do it together, okay?”

“I think a good place for you to start is to forgive the driver of the truck,” I said quietly, calming down as Louis and I stood up.

“I want to, so bad Harry,” Louis said.

“Just do it,” I coaxed. “Call him right now, see if he’s willing to meet up while you’re out here.” Louis didn’t say anything, so I continued. “It’ll be a lot easier for you to start forgiving yourself if you can forgive him first.”

“Okay,” Louis agreed. “You’re right.” He pulled out his cell phone and dialed the number Wrynn had written down for him. He turned it on speaker so I could hear, and it rang a couple of times before going to voice mail.

“Hey, you’ve reached Chuck,” a gruff voice said. “It’s karaoke night at Bud’s so you know where to find me.” Then there was a beep. Louis hung up. I looked at him.

“Let’s go find him,” I said.

“Harry,” Louis protested.

“We’re leaving tomorrow, Lou,” I reminded him. “This is your one chance. I just don’t want you to regret anything.”

“Too late for that,” he muttered. My heart broke for him. Louis, the king of no regrets. I pulled him into my arms.

“Come on, Love,” I said. “Let’s find this Bud’s place.” We did some research and found that the karaoke bar Chuck had referred to was within walking distance of the hotel, so we grabbed a bite to eat in the hotel restaurant then headed over, having no idea who we were looking for once we got inside. I asked a waitress, and she pointed us in the direction of one of the bartenders, so Louis and I walked over towards the bar where Chuck was standing on the other side.
