Chapter 27
(A/N To recap... There's a creepy guy in the bushes, and AJ is trying to leave but her tires are slashed)
~AJ's POV~
I slowly opened the car door and got out. I took out my phone and began to dial a tow-truck.
"What do you think you're doing?" A semi-familiar voice asked talking my phone
"Gage! give me back my phone" I said reaching to grab it, but he held it over his head.... WHY MUST I BE SO SHORT!!
"Oh no babe, you won't be getting it back" He said as he smashed my phone on the ground
"I swear, if you call me babe ever again, it will be the last thing you say" I said as I clenched my fists by my side
"Oh AJ, sweet sweet little AJ, you could never hurt me" He paused "But I can hurt you"
"Back off fucker" I said in a harsh tone... If you couldn't tell Gage is my abusive ex-boyfriend... Actually he's the reason why Niall and I met.

*Flashback*
"Gage! let me go I'm going to go hang out with Hannah!" I yelled
"No! The only thing you are going to do is get in the fucking car and come to my house, so you can-"
"Ew! No not again. You have made me do that 6 times this week" I said pulling out of his grip
I felt a harsh sting on my cheek. He had slapped me, and hard too. I could hear the sound echo through the hallways of the school. He grabbed my hand and pulled me toward the doorway. I was being dragged behind him as I clutched my cheek.
"Get your hands off of her!" I heard a familiar Irish voice yell
I turned my head to see a blond haired blue eyed Niall. I had always had a crush on him, but I was stuck in this abusive relationship. The only reason why I haven't told anyone is because he said that he would kill my mum and my sister if I did. And the only reason nobody had caught him before now is because he made sure to be really careful. Niall was walking over at a quick pace. Once he reached us he rolled up his sleeves and puffed up his chest. He's so cute!
"Boy, you look about as tough as a baby penguin." Gage said with a scoff
"At least I'm not the one going around hitting girls" Niall said raising his voice
"Just let me get on with my business"
"Your business shouldn't involve damaging someone as beautiful as her" He said as his tone got harsher
I blushed and Gage lifted up his hand to hit me again. Before he could Niall grabbed his hand to stop him. Gage was about to punch him before he blocked it and kneed him in his.... you know. As Gage was sitting there in pain Niall grabbed my hand and ran off as I stumbled behind him. He put me into the passenger seat and started driving.
"T-Thanks" I managed to say
"For what?"
"For saving me.... Gage is a total dick" I said as I started chipping the nail polish on my fingers
"Well, I couldn't just sit there and let it happen"
Later that night I was on Gage's front porch with a loaded shotgun, humming "Gunpowder and Lead" by Miranda Lambert. I sort-of regret it, but I shot him..... The whole time I couldn't stop thinking about Niall.
*End Of Flashback*
"Wait... I thought you were dead" I said looking up at him
"Oh sweetheart, a bullet to the mid-section don't kill no one" He said with a lop-sided grin.... It's cute on Niall but just looks evil on him
I drop kicked him and quickly try to make a run for it. He grabbed me by the ankle and pulled me down. We were throwing punches here and there while on the ground. While he was stunned by a punch I did the shining wizard and got up. I grabbed the pieces of my phone and ran off, leaving him knocked out cold. I stopped after a few miles of walking to assemble my phone. I call the cops and told them about the whole situation. They said that they would find him then fix the car.
I started walking home when BAM! The paparazzi shows up... Don't these people ever sleep?? I started walking faster than before and I could hear faint sirens.
"Hey! AJ! AJ! How did you get that black eye?" One guy asked as he snapped a picture. Fuck! Now Niall is going to be asking what happened, and I really don't want to tell him.
"It's none of your business" I mumbled quickly walking through the crowd. I thought that people changed... I wish Gage would change and stop being such a fucking dick.
