I remained to keep myself busy when Liam hanged out with the guys by going to the gym room and working out. I was running on the treadmill with my thoughts running along with me.

I still couldn’t get over how Louis was acting. I understand that he’s being protective of Liam because of what he has been going through since the breakup with Danielle but still, he shouldn’t judge me so quickly.

I know that I am working for Liam and that in the end he does pay me, but the way I act around him isn’t fake at all. I’m not just going to wake up one day when I know I have enough money in bank, I’ll only stay as long Liam wants me to. Liam knew that my reply had more to it than they know.

The idea of Liam telling me he doesn’t need me anymore just… It just doesn’t sound feel right to me. Not because of needing the money but because we bond really well and just the thought of being kicked or something makes me feel almost used I suppose. I don’t want to have that feeling. I hope whenever the time comes when Liam doesn’t need me anymore, he’ll still remain in my life. Liam is one of the sweetest people I have ever met in my life, he makes me happy and I don’t want that to change.

It made me smile when the boys explained to Liam that having me around seems to almost bring back the old him. That’s exactly what Liam wanted; he believes I can help him. Maybe I can, it seems to be working I guess.

But what happens when he’s all better? What happens when he’s had enough of me?

He’ll throw you to the curb sweetie.

No, he won’t, we’re friends now.

After running for a good forty minutes, I’m exhausted and just want to get cleaned up and decide what to make or order for dinner.

I take a sip of my water bottle and walk of the gym and go down the hall.

I can hear all sorts of laughter coming through the theater/game room, they’re probably watching a movie or something.

Once I take my shower feeling refresh and clean, I go into the kitchen and look around. What to make, what to make?

I opened the fridge and bent down to see what was in the drawers. Do boys like salads? Liam ate salad but then again Niall seems to eat more than that since I gave him two big bowls filled with crisps.

I see ham and turkey so decided to make them all sandwiches. I carefully stack the ham, cheese, turkey, lettuce, mustard and tomato in my arms so they won’t fall.

The moment I close the fridge door I scream out of fright and drop everything I was holding.

“Hello there, love,” Louis says with a smirk on his face.

“What the hell,” I half shout.

“Didn’t mean to scare you,” he shrugs. I so badly want to glare at him but I just ignore him and pick up what I dropped.

“Is there something you need?” I say not trying to sound rude.

“Was just going to grab a snack but it looks you’ll be making sandwiches?”

“Yes, I am for everyone,” I nod and start cutting the lettuce and tomato. It makes me feel so uncomfortable that he’s staring at me.

“Can you stop staring at me please?” I ask irritated.

“Ooh, someone’s not so nice then?” He winks at me and I roll my eyes.

“No I just can’t stand you looking at me like you’re trying to figure me out. I’m not a bad person so stop trying to dig into the truth, you don’t know me so just leave me alone,” I finally glare at him. Instead of being argued back, he laughs.

“This is the side of you I wanted to see,” he laughs and then stops. “But now let me tell you something Mia. I suppose I could like you but my guard is still up. I know who to like and who not to like, I can feel it in people. You’re right, I don’t know who you are as a person and I’m sure you’re lovely around others. But I hope this side of you isn’t the real thing. I love Liam, he’s my little brother or bigger brother in size but still, he’s my brother and I will not let him go through another hard time like this anytime soon. Don’t say you aren’t fooling around with each other because there is a hickey right on the side of your neck.” He points to the left side of my neck. Damn it Liam!

I cover my hand over the hickey he supposedly says is showing and blush which causes him to laugh.

“I’m sure you guys are really great ‘friends’ but don’t go down this path with him if you’re just going to end up leaving him. Liam is laughing and having a great time with us and we have missed this Liam in the past month, if this new Liam comes back again then you will see a side of me you will not like, OK?” He says and then smiles. It actually looks real. “Now that you get what I’m saying, I’m sure we’ll be great friends now,” he winks and with that he walks away but not before yelling what he wants on his sandwich. I huff in annoyance and sigh.

I try to ignore everything that just happened but I can’t, I know Louis is serious. Again, he’s just watching out for his friend.

“Hey there, Mia!”

I look to my right and smile at the sight of Harry.

“Hey Harry, what’s up?” I smile at him.

“Niall heard you were making some food so he wanted me to check what was taking so long,” he laughs and stands beside me observing me putting together the sandwiches.

“Looks like I’ll need to apologize to the hungry boy,” I giggle, Niall is definitely something else.

“Can I help you with anything?” He offers.

“Do you think you could grab a bag of chips from the pantry and put them in the bowl right there? Just so we don’t have to keep Niall waiting,” I smile widely.

He laughs and shakes his head. “Sure thing,” he says.

As I cut the sandwiches in half and stack them on the plate, Harry speaks while getting the chips in the bowl.

“So, are you sure you and Liam aren’t a thing?”

I bite my bottom lip and fix my hair so that it covers my hickey.

“Um no we’re just friends,” I nervously laugh.

“That’s too bad, you guys look cute together,” he smiles at me. He likes to smile a lot.

“Thanks?”

“Maybe we can hang out some time?” He says hopefully.

I don’t think I can, and why would he want to hang out with me?

“Maybe or you could all come over again this weekend and we can go swimming or something?”

“That sounds like a great idea!” He says cheerfully.

“Well then it’s settled then. I’ll just tell Liam later on and we’ll talk about it,” I say.

“Can I get your number then? I want to be the first you call!” He says and adds a playful wink causing my insides to turn.

“Sure,” I nod and we both take out our phones and exchange numbers.

“We’re going to be great friends Mia!” He smiles and hugs me. I hug him back and smile at
the thought of having another friend. Harry really is a nice guy, maybe he can be the best friend I go to when I can’t talk to Liam.

“I hope so,” I laugh.

“Don’t be surprise when I invite you to places, I get invited to a lot events and stuff on my vacation time and usually it’s the kind where I need to bring a girl so I can’t bring Ed.”

“Ed?”

“My best buddy Ed Sheeran,” he says and I nod. I have no idea who he is.

“Sure I guess that would be fine,” I say. It made me really happy that Harry wants to invite me to stuff like that. I know Harry is the kind of guy you can’t be bored with. Would Liam be OK with it? I’m sure it would be fine, he is friends with Harry after all.

“Great! Now let’s get this food to the guys,” he says before kissing the corner of my mouth and runs down hall with the bowl filled with chips, leaving me stunned.

Oh my gosh.

He almost kissed my lips, literally just two inches away from getting me directly on the center of my lips. I should be mad or upset with him but I’m not. It was probably an accident, it’s not like he likes me or anything.

Right?
