Its Love Actually
Chapter 6
I paced around the ER for nearly two and a half hours. No one would tell me if Harry was okay, and no one would tell me where he was. My eyes hadn’t stopped pouring tears since I got the phone call that Harry was in the hospital.
“Alana?” A doctor said to me.
“That’s me.” I said wiping my eyes.
“Alright, Harry is okay, he just is a little banged up and on some pain killers. He is a little out of it so, do you live together?” He said.
“Yeah we do.” I answered.
“Alright, you will need to take care of him for a few days, and make sure he takes his medicine and stuff like that. We have it all written down for you. He will be fine, but he might be in a lot of pain.” The doctor said.
“Okay. Is he coming home tonight?” I said.
“Yes, the nurse will bring him out in a minute.” The doctor replied, and walked away.
My eyes started pouring tears after the doctor walked away. A few minutes later, the nurse brought Harry out in a wheel chair.
“Oh Harry!” I shouted running toward him.
“I’m ‘kay Lans.” Harry slurred.
I sat in his lap, and buried my face in his shoulder. He wrapped his arms lightly around me, and rubbed my arm lightly.
“I’m so sorry Harry, this is my entire fault. I shouldn’t have freaked out on you like that earlier.” I said.
“No, no, Lana I’m okay, it’s all going to be okay.” Harry whispered to me.
From there, the nurse wheeled us out to my car. Harry’s had been totaled. They tried putting him in the back seat, but Harry refused.
“Harry, you need to lie down.” The nurse said.
“No, I want to be next to my Lana.” Harry said.
He was totally out of it, but it still meant a lot that he called me his.
“I’ll drive slow.” I said.
“Okay, be safe.” The nurse said, closing the door.
I slowly pulled out of the hospital, and began to drive home. Harry grabbed my hand lightly, and I held his firmly.
“Do you have any water?” Harry said.
“No, why, are you okay?” I said nervously.
“I just have a real bad headache.” Harry replied.
“I can pull over, and get you some.” I said.
“No, it’s fine, just go home.” Harry said softly.
“Are you sure.” I asked.
“Mhm.” Harry mumbled.
I kept driving; I was trying to go slow, because over every bump Harry would wince in pain. I felt so bad, this was my fault. If I hadn’t of yelled at him for not wanting to date me, he never would have left, and he would be fine now.
We finally arrived at the house. I slowly pulled in.
“Please speed up; I can feel every bump going slow.” Harry said.
“Sorry.” I said, pulling into my parking space.
“Stop apologizing.” Harry said.
“Sorry.” I mumbled again.
I hopped out of the car, and ran over to Harry’s door. I opened it, and he didn’t sit up.
“Harry, you need to get up.” I said.
“My head weighs like a million pounds.” Harry said, his eyes welling up with tears.
“Come on, I’ll help you.” I said.
Harry stayed still. I took one of his hands in mine, and placed my other hand under his head. I slowly pulled him forward, so he could sit up.
“Are you okay?” I asked him.
“Not really.” Harry mumbled.
“Do you think you can stand up…or?” I said.
“No.” Harry said.
I grabbed his arm and placed it around my shoulder.
“Get your feet out of the car.” I said.
He did as I said, and slowly placed his feet outside of the car.
“Are you ready?” I asked.
“Yeah.” Harry mumbled.
I slowly started to pull him out of the car, and he buried his face in my neck and started to cry.
“I know it hurts Harry, but once we get inside, you can lie down.” I said.
He didn’t really listen, he just held onto me tighter.
“You’re okay.” I whispered to Harry.
He was finally standing just outside the car. Harry was close to six feet tall, and I was only five feet three inches. This would not be easy.
I wrapped my arms around his waist and slowly walked him inside. The whole time he cried into my neck. I felt so bad. Finally, we got to the door.
“Harry, I need to unlock the door, do you think you can stand on your own for a second?” I asked.
“No.” he said.
“Alright, then hold onto me, because I need to let go of you for a second.” I said.
Harry held onto me as tight as he could while I unlocked and opened the door.
“Come on, let’s go inside.” I said.
Harry started walking slowly, and he went to the couch.
“Harry, why don’t you go in bed? It’s more comfortable, and you’ll be closer to the bathroom, and you’ll have more room.” I said.
“It’s too far away.” Harry groaned.
“Okay.” I said.
I got him a glass of water, and his next dose of medicine.
“Take this.” I said.
“What is it?” Harry asked.
“You’re pain meds.” I said.
Harry nodded, and took the pills. My eyes well up with tears.
“What’s wrong?” Harry asked lying down again.
“This is all my fault.” I said.
“No it’s not.” Harry answered.
“Yes it is. If I hadn’t yelled at you, and everything you wouldn’t be hurt now.” I said, letting my tears pour.
“No, baby, I’m fine okay?” Harry said.
“You’re not fine Harry, you’re not fine. You can’t stand up, you just got in a car crash, you’re brand new car is totaled and it’s all my fault.” I said crying harder.
“Come here Alana.” Harry said.
I didn’t move, I just cried into my hands.
“Lana, come here.” Harry said opening his arms.
I walked a little closer, but I didn’t want to hurt him anymore than I already had.
“Come here baby, come here.” Harry said.
I couldn’t fight it anymore, so I knelt down beside the couch, and rested my head on his chest. I cried into him, and he wrapped his arm around me.
“Shhh…it’s okay.” Harry said stroking my hair.
“I’m so sorry for everything Harry.” I said.
“Stop apologizing Lana. You didn’t do anything wrong.” Harry said softly.
I stayed snuggled into him, I couldn’t move.
“Come sit with me.” Harry said.
I got up and sat of the end of the couch, and rested his feet over my legs.
“Seriously. I don’t bite.” Harry said.
“I don’t want to hurt you.” I said.
“Get over here.” Harry said motioning for me to lie on him.
“I’m going to hurt you.” I said.
“No you won’t. Come lie with me.” Harry said.
“No, you’re broken.” I said.
“I’m fine, come lie with me now.” Harry said.
“Harry, I don’t want to hurt you.” I said.
“You’re not going to. If you lie with me, I’ll feel better. Please.” Harry said.
“But Harry…” I whined.
“No, but Harry nothing. Come lie with me.” Harry said.
“It’s going to hurt you though.” I said.
“You are so stubborn sometimes. I want you to lie with me now.” Harry said.
I shook my head.
“Baby, come here.” Harry said.
“But what if I hurt you?” I asked softly.
“You aren’t going to. I promise. Now come here babe.” Harry said.
I slowly went and laid down on Harry. He wrapped one arm around my waist, and placed the other one on my head. He kissed the top of my head.
“See, you didn’t hurt me.” Harry said.
“I know.” I mumbled, burying my face into his neck.
“I’m sorry for hurting you though Alana. I shouldn’t have done what I did to you. I love you so much, and it hurt me to see how much I hurt you. I’m just afraid that if we go out, what if we break up? What if that ruins everything, and we can’t be friends anymore, I don’t want to risk losing you over anything.” Harry said.
“Harry, you will never ever lose me. I love you, and no matter what I will always be here for you.” I said.
“I know, I was being stupid.” Harry said.
“Yeah, you kinda were.” I joked.
Harry laughed.
“Can I kiss you?” Harry said.
“Yeah.” I answered.
I turned myself over slowly on Harry, so that I was facing him. I leaned down, and our lips crashed together. He tangled his fingers in my hair, and gave me a long passionate kiss.
“Maybe this dating thing could work out after all?” Harry said.
“Alana?” A doctor said to me.
“That’s me.” I said wiping my eyes.
“Alright, Harry is okay, he just is a little banged up and on some pain killers. He is a little out of it so, do you live together?” He said.
