Its Love Actually

Chapter 25

A smile spread across my face. Harry lifted my shirt, and kissed from my stomach all the way up to my neck. His lips were warm, and soft like the inside of a rose. He finally reached my lips, and took my bottom lip in between his teeth, causing a gasp to escape my lips.
He pulled away from me slowly, leaving me wanting more. I ran my hand through his hair, and he grabbed them.
“It’s all about you.” he whispered.
I nodded my head, as Harry began to slide my pants down. I closed my eyes, and waited for his skin on mine. I felt his lips trailing up my legs, and he finally reached my panties. As he was about to remove them from me, my phone started ringing.
“Really?” Harry said.
“Will you see who it is, it might be my mom.” I said.
Harry stood up, and grabbed my phone.
“That looks like the number from the hospital.” Harry said.
“Answer it.” I said nervously.
Harry answered my phone. I was shaking.
“Hello?” He said.
“Hi, is there an Alana Goldberg there, this is urgent.” A voice said on the other line.
“Yeah, here she is.” Harry said handing me the phone.
I took it, and Harry came over and put his arm around me.
“This is Alana.” I said, my voice shaking.
“Your mother is in the hospital. She was hit by and eighteen wheeler, and is in critical condition. We don’t know how much longer she has, so you should get down here now.” The man said.
I dropped my phone.
“Harry we need to go to the hospital now!” I shouted, my eyes filling with tears.
“What’s wrong?” Harry asked.
“It’s my mother.” I said.
“Slow down, Alana what’s going on?” Harry asked calmly.
I slid my pants back on, and grabbed onto Harry’s chest. He wrapped his arms around me.
“We need to go now, please, just please let’s go.” I said.
“Okay, okay.” Harry replied, leading me out of the house, and into the car.
We drove to the hospital in silence. The other noises I could here were my ragged breaths, and wind. Harry held my hand the entire way there.
When we got there, I rushed straight to the front desk.
“Where is my mom!” I shouted crying.
“Last name?” The lady said calmly.
I could barely breathe. My mom could be dying somewhere, and this lady didn’t even have any sense of urgency in her at all.
“Goldberg.” Harry said.
“She’s in the ICU. I need some ID.” The lady said.
I buried my face into Harry’s chest, as he removed my wallet from my pocket. He pulled out my license and handed it to the lady.
“She’s my mom and I need to see her now!” I shouted.
“Alana, calm down.” Harry said, wrapping a strong arm around me.
“I can’t calm down I need to see my mom.” I cried.
“Floor 7, room 216.” The lady said.
I ran to the elevator, and dragged Harry with me. We got up to the seventh floor, and I rushed to my mom’s room.
“Miss, you can’t go in there.” A nurse said to me.
“She is my mother!” I shouted.
Harry grabbed my arm.
“You need to calm down okay? Yelling at everyone isn’t going to help this situation at all.” He said.
The nurse nodded in agreement with him.
“WHAT DO YOU PEOPLE NOT UNDERSTAND!? MY MOM IS DYING IN THERE! I JUST NEED TO SEE HER OKAY? I NEED TO LET HER KNOW I’M HERE AND THAT I LOVE HER! JUST LET ME SEE MY MOM!” I wailed dropping to the floor crying.
Harry knelt down next to me, and rubbed my back.
“Lana…shhh…” he said soothingly.
I wrapped my arms around his neck, and cried into his shoulder. He wrapped his arms around my waist, and kissed me lightly on the head.
“Please let me see my mom.” I whispered up to the nurse, “Please.”
He looked down at me.
“I just need to see her.” I said.
Tears were pouring down my face. Harry brushed them away swiftly with his thumb. The nurse went, and unlocked my mom’s door.
“She’s in a coma. She may or may not be able to hear you, but she won’t respond to you. She had over one hundred broken bones, and you may not even be able to recognize her.” The nurse said.
I stood up, nodded my head, and walked in. I saw my mom, lying lifelessly on the bed. She was mangled. Harry had to wait in the hallway, because only one person was allowed in at a time.
I sat down in a chair next to my mom’s bed. The room was cold, and dark. It made her look like she was already dead. I grabbed my mom’s hand, and held it. I didn’t say anything, and just listened to the steady beeping of the machines.
“Hey mom. It’s me Alana.” I said finally.
I tightened my grip on her hand, so she could feel me with her.
“You got into a pretty bad accident, and they don’t know if you’ll make it. Just try to hold on as long as possible mom, please. I don’t know what I’ll do without you. I love you so much. I know I haven’t been around lately, and if you live through this, I promise that I will take care of you every day. You can come live with me and Harry, and everything will be okay. Just don’t let go yet. You can make it through this.” I said, tears pouring from my eyes.
I brought my mom’s hand up to my mouth, and kissed it gently. I squeezed my eyes shut tightly, wishing this was all a dream. When I opened my eyes, it wasn’t. This was real.
I stayed, and talked to my mom for hours. Even though she wasn’t responding, I had a feeling that she could hear me, like she was listening. Eventually, a nurse came in and told me it was time to leave.
I kissed my mom on the forehead.
“I’ll be back tomorrow, first thing. I love you. Stay strong.” I said, and walked out.
Harry was standing in the waiting room, and I ran over and crumpled into his arms. I let out a loud sob, and Harry held me tightly.
“I hate this.” I sobbed.
“I know. Your mom is strong. She can make it, and so can you.” Harry whispered into my ear.
“What if she doesn’t Harry? Then she’ll be gone forever. You’re leaving for tour, and I’ll be alone.” I said.
“She will be fine, and so will you. Alana everything is going to be okay.” Harry said.
He held me closely to him, and I sobbed into his shoulder.
“I can’t fly out to the VMA’s with you.” I said.
“I figured.” Harry answered.
“You’re leaving tonight aren’t you?” I asked.
“I have to Alana. I wish I could stay here with you, but I just have to go.” Harry said.
“It’s fine. I’m spending the night here anyway, so go home, and pack and everything. I’ll see you when you get back.” I said.
“Alana, if you need anything just call me okay? Call my mom, anyone; we are all here for you.” Harry said.
“I know. Thank you.” I said.
Harry nodded, and pulled me into a deep passionate kiss. All my cares and worries were forgotten in that kiss. Harry was the only one who could make me feel this way. He slipped his tongue in my mouth.
“I love you Alana.” Harry said.
“I love you too.” I answered.
“I’ll be home soon.” Harry said.
“I’m going to miss you.” I said.
“I’m going to miss you too, but don’t worry about me, take care of your mom.” Harry said.
“I will.” I answered.
“I love you.” Harry said again.
“I love you Harry.” I said and pecked his lips one more time before he left.
I walked back into the ICU waiting room, and sat in a chair outside my mom’s door. I closed my eyes and tried to get some rest.
I prayed for most of the night, that my mom would make it to tomorrow. I watched as doctors and nurses travelled in and out of her room all night.
Every time someone would go in my heart would skip a beat. I asked countless people how she was, and got the same answer each time. They all said ‘Well she’s holding up, but we don’t know how much longer she has.’
I couldn’t bear to think of life without my mom. She had been with me through everything. She was the one I went to with all my problems. She was like my best friend. If she was gone, I would have nothing left.
