Its Love Actually
Chapter 22
I rushed my way to the door, in a fit of tears. Harry had kicked me out, my parents were getting a divorce, I hated my dad, and Harry may or may not have cheated on me. I had nowhere to go, and even if I did, I could barely stand up. I just wanted to get out of the house.
I got to the door, and pulled it open, only to have it slammed shut. Harry stepped in front of the door, and blocked my way. I looked down, unable to look him in the eyes.
“Harry just let me go.” I mumbled.
“No, I’m going to prove to you that nothing happened. I love you Alana, and I would never, ever do this to you.” Harry said.
I said nothing. Harry grabbed my hands, and led me to the couch. I sat down, and Harry sat next to me. He pulled out his phone and began typing something in.
“See this?” He said showing me the picture of him and Christina Aguilera.
I nodded, and turned my head away, because seeing him hand in hand with another girl just hurt too much. Harry placed his hand lightly under my chin, and made me face him.
He typed something else in on his phone, and then showed me the screen yet again. It was the same picture, only this time, there was no girl attached to him.
“This is the real one. If you still don’t believe me, then here is an article on how Christina is filming her show in America. We are in London. It is impossible I ever could have been with her. Even if she was here I wouldn’t have gone to see her.” Harry said.
My whole heart had felt like it had been ripped out of my chest.
“Harry I am so sorry. I can’t even begin to explain how sorry I am. I should have trusted you and not jumped to conclusions, and I just…I was so jealous, and after seeing my mom so upset, my emotions are going crazy, and I just Harry I am so, so sorry.” I said tears continuously pouring from my eyes.
“I love you Alana. I don’t know how you could even think that I would cheat on you.” Harry said hurt.
“I shouldn’t have.” I said.
“You think? It hurts so much to think that you think I would do that to you.” Harry said.
“I know and I am so sorry Harry. I just can’t even process the thought of losing you to someone.” I said shaking my head and letting the tears pour from my eyes.
“Well now you know I didn’t cheat on you.” Harry said standing up.
He was furious with me I could tell.
“You don’t have to leave either. I’m not letting you off that easy. You need to know what it’s like to have someone mad at you.” Harry said from the other room.
I hung my head, and sobbed into my hands. By now, my leg was throbbing in pain, but I wasn’t about to bother Harry with that. He had every right to be mad at me. I was being crazy. I should have listened to him, and let him explain. I never should have gone off on him like that.
I stayed in my place on the couch holding my leg closely to me, trying to get the pain to go away. Harry was in the kitchen shuffling around. After a minute, he came out and handed me an ice pack, but walked away immediately after handing it to me.
I mumbled a thank you, but he was already gone. It was killing me that even though I had treated him like that, and even though he was extremely mad at me, he was still looking out for me.
I laid back on the couch, and put the ice on my leg. I closed my eyes and tried to fall asleep. Whenever I closed them I saw my mom crying. I needed to call my dad. I figured since I was already in a bad enough mood I would do it now.
I crept into the kitchen where Harry was and grabbed my phone. He looked up at me quickly, but then turned away. His eyes were puffy and red.
“I love you Harry.” I said before leaving the room.
I knew he was mad at me, but I needed to let him know that I really did love him and that I made a big mistake in not trusting him.
I dialed my dad’s number, and he answered the phone on the first ring. I didn’t even wait for him to talk before I went off on him.
“How could you?!” I shouted into the phone.
“Alana?” my dad said.
“Don’t you dare say my name. How could you do that to mom? She came over crying because of you! You broke her heart.” I said to him.
“Alana, sweetie you can’t hate me like this.” My dad said sounding hurt.
I didn’t even care. He hurt my mom, and he deserved the same.
“You don’t understand do you? My entire life has just fallen apart over this.” I said.
“It’s not like you live at home anyway.” My dad replied.
“That isn’t the point! My boyfriend and I had just gotten into a huge fight because I thought he cheated on me! Turns out I was being an idiot and not trusting him for any reason. You have ruined my trust in everyone by hurting mom like this. How could you do that to her? If you didn’t love her anymore why didn’t you come out and say it? You snuck behind her back with some other lady! You’re a filthy coward.” I shouted at him.
“You need to listen to me Alana.” My dad said.
I had learned from my mistake of not listening to Harry. I shut up and let my dad talk.
“What?” I asked coldly.
“I didn’t cheat on you mom with another lady.” My dad said.
“Wait what?” I asked getting really confused.
“I’m gay.” My dad said.
“Oh my God.” I whispered.
“I know it comes as a shock, but it came as a shock to me too.” My dad said trying to sooth me.
“I need to go. I need to think this all over. I can’t do this now.” I said and hung up.
I flung my phone across the room, and let out a sob, that could have woken people in China. I couldn’t even talk to Harry about this because he hated me. I didn’t trust anyone else with this sort of secret. I didn’t know if my mom knew either. I sat curled up in a ball, sobbing on the couch.
I had to tell Harry. I needed to talk to someone. No matter how mad at me he was, I needed to get this off my chest.
I walked slowly into the kitchen, where Harry sat at the table texting on his phone. I went and sat down next to him.
“Harry, I know you are really mad at me, and I don’t blame you. You should be mad at me, and hate me…” I said.
“I don’t hate you.” Harry said flatly cutting me off.
“Okay. I am so sorry Harry. I really am. I don’t know what else I can say to make this okay, there really isn’t anything. I just hope you can forgive me, because I can’t lose someone else right now.” I said.
“You’ll never lose me Alana.” Harry said not looking up at me.
“Harry I love you, and I really need to talk to you but I can’t if your mad at me, and I can’t wait to tell you this.” I said slowly breaking.
“You don’t get how much you hurt me do you?” Harry shot at me.
“Harry I do. I really do.” I said.
“You would have been mad at me forever, but I have to get over it right away. How is that fair?” Harry snapped.
“Harry my life is falling apart. If it were any other circumstance, if I hadn’t just found out about my parents’ divorce, then I never would have acted like that. I’m stressed out, and I know the last thing you need is my excuses, but I swear I’m telling you the truth.” I said.
Harry looked up at me, and his eyes were shining with the tears he was holding in.
“How is your life falling apart?” Harry asked.
I took a deep breath and bit down on my lip. I had to accept the fact my dad was gay. Saying it out loud would make it real.
Harry grabbed my hand. He looked me in the eyes, and nodded at me.
“Harry my dad is gay.” I said, breaking down into a sob.
Harry pulled me into him, and held me close.
“It’s okay Alana; he doesn’t love you any less.” Harry said.
“I know, but my whole life, I thought that my mom and dad were in love. I looked up to them in their relationship and thought ‘Wow, I want that.’ But the whole thing, my whole life is a lie.” I said.
Harry held my head into his shoulder, and rocked me back and forth slightly.
“I know you’re really mad at me, but I just really need you.” I said crying into him.
“No matter how mad I am Lana, I am always here for you.” Harry said.
“You are way too good for me.” I said.
“No. Don’t ever say that okay. I love you with everything in me.” Harry whispered in my ear.
“I love you too Harry, and I am truly really sorry for hurting you.” I said.
“I know, and I forgive you. I’m not going to stay mad at you anymore. I can’t stand it.” Harry said.
I snuggled in close to Harry, and he kissed my head.
“He cheated on my mom with a guy.” I said.
Harry started to laugh.
“It’s not funny.” I said beginning to smile.
“It kind of is.” Harry replied.
I started laughing harder, and then the two of us were sitting there in hysterics.
“This is so mean.” I giggled.
Harry nodded and smiled.
“My mom is really hurt.” I said.
“My parents went through a divorce too. It’s terrible, but at least you are out of the house, so you don’t need to hear the constant fighting. And no one will get custody, because you’re already legal. You won’t have to do the back and forth to the different houses every day.”
“Yeah, but if they remarry, I’ll have three dad’s and one mom.” I snickered.
Harry smiled down at me.
“I’m glad you aren’t mad at me anymore. I hate it.” I said.
“I know me too. You have to know that I will never hurt you like that. I will never cheat on you, or anything.” Harry said.
“Me either.” I answered.
Harry gave me a sweet kiss on the lips.
“You’re too amazing to stay mad at anyway.” Harry said.
I smiled and poked his cheek. He picked me up, and spun me around.
“Let’s go out for dinner. This house has too much negative energy right now.” Harry said.
“Good idea, but I look a mess.” I said.
“Go wash up and change, and then we can go.” Harry said.
“Come with me.” I answered.
Harry and I walked upstairs to get ready. He helped me pick out a new outfit, and everything went back to normal. It was like we never got into a fight.
After getting ready, we headed into the car, hand in hand. Harry drove us to a small restaurant, and didn’t let my hand go one time the whole drive there.
Even when we were in the restaurant, held hands and hugged the whole time while ordering. Tonight was going to be an amazing night. My dad being gay saved Harry and my relationship. It brought us closer together. I wish everything could stay like this forever.
I got to the door, and pulled it open, only to have it slammed shut. Harry stepped in front of the door, and blocked my way. I looked down, unable to look him in the eyes.
