Unexpected Fate
Chapter 33
Aria’s POV
My date last night with Harry had been absolutely amazing. It was by far THE best date I had ever had. The topic of marriage had surprised me but we both knew that it would be a few years before we would even THINK about getting married. When the timing is right, it will happen but right now we just weren’t there yet and wouldn’t be until quite some time. Harry and the boys are at the high-point in their career and he should be focused on that, while I focus on what lies ahead for me. Maybe someday, but just not right now. But it was nice to know that Harry thought of our relationship as long-term.
The whole date and after was full of excitement and bliss, but now it was time to take care of business. The rest of the boys and Perrie were due at the hotel any minute. I was racked with nerves, while I sat beside Suzan on the leather couch in Harry’s suite. Harry and Louis were sitting at the mini-bar, chatting lowly to each other. Suzan placed her hand on my clothed knee, “You okay?”
I smiled at her weakly, “Yeah. I’m fine.”
She patted my knee , “It’ll be fine, hon. Don’t worry.”
I sighed, “Hopefully… I just feel horrible for Zayn.”
She nodded her head slowly in agreement, “Me too, but it will all be better in the long run.”
I looked down at my black sequenced covered shirt. I mindlessly picked at them. I could only hope it would be better in the long run. I knew right now the problem was Zayn being cheated and lied to, which was driving a wedge in the band. It was only common sense that Zayn would get hurt. Who wouldn’t be hurt by that kind of truth? There was a knock at the door and all of our heads instantly snap towards the door. I looked over at Harry and Louis. Harry was just as nervous as I was but Louis was… well, Louis. Nothing really seemed to ever faze him. Louis was the one to jump up to answer the door, and I just kept staring at Harry. He was staring back and it was like we were talking to each other through our thoughts. I gave him a nervous smile and he returned it with a reassuring grin. That was another thing I loved about him; even when he was nervous or scared, he would always try to make me feel better first.
I turned back to look at Louis. He threw the door open and jumped up and down like a kid and spoke with an overly excited tone, “My boys! Oh, how I’ve missed you!”
I automatically smiled at his attempt to lighten the mood before it even began. Louis moved out of the doorway, letting in Liam and Niall. I gave Louis a questioning look and he just shrugged his shoulders. Without hesitation, I jumped off of the couch and ran to Niall and Liam. They grinned and me as I threw my arms around them both, “I have missed you two so much!”
They both wrapped their arms around me and we formed a small group hug. Niall’s Irish accent spoke out, “We’ve missed you too. Don’t do that to us again.”
I smiled at him and Liam nodded, adding in his opinion, “NEVER again. These last few months haven’t been easy on anyone. Even Danielle. She was so upset that you just left.”
I frowned at Liam, “I am truly sorry, guys… I know I shouldn’t have done what I did but everything was just such a -,”
Liam grinned at me, pulling me back in the group hug, “It’s alright, Aria. We forgive you. We’re just all glad you and Haz are back together.”
Louis yelled at the top of his lungs, “GROUP HUG!”
Niall and I began laughing as everyone rushed over to join in the moment. I began to feel squished then they all finally released. I though everyone had joined in the group hug, but Suzan just sat on the couch, laughing at our expense. I turned back to Liam and Niall, “Guys, do you remember Suzan?”
Liam nodded, “Of course. She was the receptionist. Nice to see you again.”
He walked over and extended his hand in a handshake. She took it, smiling, “You too.”
I turned back to Niall who was grinning. I could already tell he thought she was attractive. He walked over, leaned down and gave her a kiss on the cheek, “Hello, Suzan.”
She just chuckled and smiled. Niall sat down beside her and they started their own conversation. We all just stood there, glancing at each other awkwardly. I had no idea what might occur there, but it wasn’t my business. She was quite a bit older than Niall, but, like I said, none of my business… But I knew we were going to have a little chat later. Louis, always being the ice-breaking that he was, asked the question that was on the majority of our minds; “Where are Zayn and Perrie?”
Liam plopped down beside Niall, “They were still settling in when we came here. They said they would be here in a minute…”
The room got quiet. I took it Niall and Liam finally knew about what was going on and the plan. I’m sure we had Louis to thank for that. I went over and sat on Harry’s lap, who was sitting in an arm-chair. He wrapped his arms around me and I laid back, nuzzling my head into the crook of his neck. We listened to Liam and Louis’ hilarious conversation about Liam’s friend, Andy, getting drunk and confessing his love to Liam. Niall, being the Irishman that he is, was laughing to the point of a red face and clutching onto his side. The story itself wasn’t that funny, but when Niall laughs like that, there is no way you won’t join in.
There was an abrupt knock at the door and all laughing and conversation instantly seized. I froze in Harry’s arm and he rubbed my arm lightly. He leaned in and whispered in my ear, “Why don’t you and Suzan go into the bedroom?”
I looked at him confused, “Why?”
He just looked at me reassuringly, “We will try talking to them but I am afraid if you two are out here, it will only make things more awkward… Please?”
I really didn’t want to be there but I then I did. I wanted to see her face when she found out she was caught but I didn’t want to see Zayn’s hurt expression. So, I decided it was the best idea. I gave him a light kiss on the cheek and grabbed Suzan’s arm, pulling her to the bed room and shutting the door as Louis opened the front one. Suzan looked at me like I was nuts. What the hell,” she whispered to me.
I whispered back, “I know, but it’s for the best…”
She was about to protest again but I put my hand over her mouth, sending her signals to shut up. I leaned my ear against the door and she copied. We both listened in intently, waiting for another World War to break out.
Harry’s POV
Louis opened the door and Zayn and Perrie waltzed in, hand-in-hand. Neither Zayn nor Perrie looked at me, both just making conversations with the others. The awkwardness in the room was thick and we all just kind of sat there quietly. Niall sighed loudly and scratched his stomach, “Oi, Liam. Want to get some food?”
Liam glanced at Niall and shrugged, “Sure.”
They both stood and headed towards the door, “Anyone want anything?”
All of us muttered “no’s” or shook our heads. They left, leaving only Louis, Zayn, Perrie, and I. Zayn and Perrie were still standing, making this all the more awkward. I sighed. This was going absolutely nowhere so it was time to speed it along, “Zayn, we all need to talk.”
He glared at me, “About?”
I tried my best to keep myself composed, “Everything that has happened.”
I saw Perrie stiffen a little and Zayn spoke with a harsh tone, “What is there to talk about, Harry? The fact you forced yourself on my girlfriend and then lied about it? I know you were upset about that bird but really? Can you not let anyone else be happy?”
I clutched my fists together, “That’s a bloody fucking lie, Zayn. There is nothing I want more than for you and the other guys to be happy, precisely why I would never do anything to put your happiness in jeopardy. The fact that you believe her,” I nodded towards Perrie who just scoffed, “over your own mate is ridiculous.”
Zayn rolled his brown eyes, “Harry, there is no point in us having this same conversation again.”
The whole time, both Louis and Perrie were quiet. It was almost the exact same argument we had at Zayn’s flat. I turned to Perrie, “Tell him, Perrie. Don’t be a bloody coward.”
She just glared at me, “There’s nothing to tell. He already knows the truth, Harry. Just confess already.”
I jumped out of chair with anger and began striding over there when Louis grabbed my shoulder and pulled me back down into the chair. He shot me a warning glance, “Don’t Harry.”
Just as I was about to stand again, the bedroom door squeaked open and all our heads turned. Aria and Suzan stood there, both with angry expressions. Aria’s was the angriest but she was beautiful.
Perrie’s voice rung through the room, “What the hell is she doing here?”
Suzan stepped beside Aria, making herself known and crossing her arms, “Exposing the truth. Would you like to, or shall I?”
