Unexpected Fate
Chapter 28
Aria’s POV
I sat there frozen. I didn’t know what I wanted to do. I had so many mixed feelings. I looked at Suzan who just smiled at me, “Aria… It’s time to fix this.”
Everything she said in that small sentence was right. I turned back to see Harry still looking at me. His smile faltered a little, with a small look of apprehension. I thought about how he didn’t believe me but then if he was here, something must have changed, right? I let my heart take over my body and without thinking; I rose to my feet and started to slowly walk over to Harry. The closer I got, the more my heart raced and the butterflies in my stomach fluttered. Everything seemed to be moving in slow motion, so I began to walk faster. Before I knew it I was running through the airport, receiving weird glances. I never took my eyes off of Harry’s. What seemed like an eternity later, I was standing face to face with Harry. He looked down at me, mixture of emotions playing across his face. I just looked up at him, hopeful.
I saw cameras flashing but I paid no attention. I honestly didn’t give a fuck about the media anymore. It seemed like it you cared too much, they would just rip anything you have apart. Harry brought his hand up to my face, pushing a stray strand of hair out of my face. His fingers lingered longer than what most would. My stomach jumped when he finally spoke. It was low enough for only my ears, “You’re here.”
My lips tugged into a slight smile, “I am.”
A hand landed on Harry’s shoulder, causing us both to turn to the person. Louis smiled at me, “Nice to see you again, Aria. How about this time, you say goodbye, yeah?”
I was a little stunned to see Louis. I would have thought he would have been quite upset with my actions, but I wouldn’t question it. Well, right now I wouldn’t. I nodded my head, “I’m sorry, Louis.”
He smiled at me bigger, “Ah, it’s alright, sweet cheeks. I’m always a sucker for second chances.” He held out his arms, “But only for a little snuggle in return.”
I grinned at him, stepping into his grasp. His arms encircled around me and let go at the appropriate time. I looked at Harry who was standing there kind of awkwardly. He cleared his throat, “You got our bags?”
Louis nodded and Suzan joined us finally. Louis smiled, holding up his hand for a high five, “Ahh, Suzan. Good job.”
She smiled, returning his gesture, “Thank you. Ready?”
They nodded, pulling their bags behind them. Louis and Suzan led the way, leaving me and Harry in the back. A few girls lingered, taking pictures and exchanging whispers but kept their distance. Looking down at the ground, I decided it was the best time to talk about what had happened, “Harry…”
He cut me off, “Aria, I’m sorry. I truly am. I should have listened to what you said but I didn’t. I was being stubborn and totally ridiculous.”
I smiled faintly, “It’s okay Harry. I was a little hurt at first but you had every right to not believe me.”
He stayed quiet for a moment, looking ahead at Suzan and Louis who were talking casually, “We both have screwed up… In one way or another.”
I laughed lightly, nodding my head, “Yeah. We have.”
He looked at me from the corner of his eye, “Maybe… Maybe we could just put it all in the past and just call it all even? I don’t like saying it that way, but in a sense, that’s what it feels like.”
I grinned at his rambling which won me one of his prized smiles, “I think that’s a good idea.”
We made our way outside of the airport, into the parking lot. Louis pilled his luggage in, turning to me and Harry, grinning, “I call front.”
I knitted my eyebrows, “Hey, that’s not fai-.”
He shot me a wink before sliding into the passenger seat, “You owe me.”
At that, I let him have the seat without any argument. Suzan started up the car, leaving only me and Harry outside the car. Harry tossed in his suitcase, shutting the trunk. He turned to me, “Sooo… Where does this leave us?”
I deliberated over what he said. The same question was in the back of my mind as well. We had come quite a long ways together and to totally start over would be absurd. So I stuck with the simplest answer I knew, “How about where we left off?”
He grinned, stepping closer, “That sounds… fair. Does that mean snogging is acceptable?” He raised an eyebrow curiously.
My stomach fluttered, and I just nodded my head. Both of our expressions had gone completely serious and I actually found myself nervous. He leaned in, locking gazes with mine. Our lips were about to touch and my heart was racing at intense speeds. I closed my eyes, waiting for our lips to connect. “Oi, are you guys coming or what?”
My eyes shot open and Harry let out a sigh of frustration, running his fingers through his messy curls, “Really, Lou? You couldn’t bloody fucking wait five more seconds?”
Louis chuckled, “Sorry mate. I was just kind of hoping to get out of here before fans mob us, yeah?”
Harry rolled his eyes. I got into the back seat and Harry slid in the other side. I saw Suzan looking at me from the rearview mirror. Once she caught my gaze, she winked. I rolled my eyes and the car inched forward. I felt Harry’s pinky brush against mine and I turned my head, locking gazes. I smiled at him lightly and he smiled back. His other fingers followed, finally taking my whole hand in his. We laced our fingers together and I held back a sigh of content. Irrupting the moment this time was Suzan, “So.” She turned her head to glance at Louis, “What are we going to do about Perrie?”
