Unexpected Fate
Chapter 26
Harry’s POV
I eyed Perrie awkwardly. I had never been close to Perrie, so the idea of her checking up on me was strange. What Aria had told me flashed through my mind but I pushed the thoughts away. Her assumption sounded completely ridiculous. I scratched the back of my head, confused, “Do you… erm… Do you want to come in?”
She smiled at me brightly, “That would be lovely. I hope I’m not disturbing you.”
She walked past me and I shut the door behind her, “Not at all. I was just about to eat.”
She turned on her heels to face me, “I’ll only be a minute.”
I shoved my hands in my pockets, leaning against the wall, “Okay… What do you need, exactly?”
She brushed her blonde hair out of her eyes, batting her long eyelashes at me, “I just wanted to check up on you… I knew you and Aria were really close, and what she did was just horrible.” She shook her head at the thought.
I looked down at the ground then back up, “I would rather not talk about that.”
She stepped closer to me, putting her hand on my forearm, “I’m sorry.”
I shrugged my shoulders, not saying anything. I started to feel uncomfortable with the way she was staring at me. Her red lips parted, “You could have done so much better, Harry.”
I eyed her suspiciously, “Yeah?”
She nodded. Before I knew what was happening, her lips pressed against mine and she ran her fingers through me curls. I stood there, frozen. A million thoughts began to flood my mind. Aria was right and I felt like such a dick for not believing her.
I realized in that exact moment, the old me, the guy I was before I met Aria, would have kissed her back. I would have kissed her back and ruined everything with Zayn and Aria. But the lips that were kissing me didn’t feel right. It all felt so wrong. The only feeling it gave me was pure nausea.
Her hands began to snake under my shirt but I grabbed her arms, holding them to her chest, pushing her back, “What the hell are you doing?”
She grinned up at me, “Oh come one, Harry. Don’t pretend that you don’t want to.”
I shook my head at her, “I don’t want to. You’re with my best mate.”
She quirked at eyebrow at me, “So if I wasn’t with him, you would?”
“No. I wouldn’t. I don’t like you like that, Perrie.”
Her face was shocked and she jerked her arms away from my grip, “You like that little bitch that will amount to nothing, but when it comes to someone who actually has class, you blow them off?”
My temper flared at her insults of Aria, “You are saying she has no class? I don’t think she is the one trying to get with her boyfriend’s best mate!” I shook my head at her, turning to open the door, “You need to leave.”
She just stood there, “You know, I was doing you a favor scaring off that little cunt.”
“Get the fuck out Perrie. Now, before I call Zayn.”
She just looked at me, “Sweetie, Zayn will never believe you over me.”
“Get. Out.”
She walked out the door and I slammed it behind her. Zayn wouldn’t believe her over me, would he? I had known him a hell of a lot longer than she had. I leaned my head against the door, lightly hitting it repeatedly. How had my life gotten so complicated? I turned around, walking past the kitchen. My appetite was completely gone. I made my way to my bedroom, and flinging myself on the bed. Sleep was my only escape anymore.
Aria’s POV
I sat on the bed, just staring at my phone. How could he not believe me? But then the answer came to my mind. I had screwed him over. If I was him, I probably wouldn’t have believed me either. Our conversation had been going perfectly and I thought maybe, just maybe, we could get back to where we were. Suzan was still standing in the doorway, “He didn’t believe you?”
I shook my head, “I mean, I understand why.”
She walked over and sat by me on the bed, “He’ll figure it out, Aria.”
I looked up at her, “I know he will but what if he gives in to her? I couldn’t be with him after that.”
She put her arm around my shoulder, “He won’t.”
“You know, I regretted slapping her, but now… Not so much.”
Suzan laughed, “Truthfully, before you told me anything about her, I thought she deserved it.”
I laughed with her. The room soon fell silent, “Do you think things will ever go back to normal?”
She smirked at me, “What is this ‘normal’ you speak of? You dated an international pop star. Your life can never be normal.”
I sighed. She was right. Sometimes I wished it could all go back to normal, but I’ve learned so many lessons these past two months. I didn’t know how, but I knew things would work out.
Harry’s POV
I woke up the next day to Louis knocking at my door, “Haz, we gotta get going. Photo shoot today, remember?”
I groaned but I got up anyway, taking a quick shower and heading downstairs. Louis patted me on the back, “Looking dapper.”
I grinned, “You too, Boo Bear.”
We walked out of the flat and into the black van Paul was driving. Liam and Niall were already in the van. I slid in front of them, Louis sliding in beside me. They both said good morning to us. We sat there a few minutes waiting on Zayn. Paul started to get impatient, “Where is Zayn?”
Niall piped up, “He got an late start. He said he would be here in five.”
Soon enough, Zayn popped into the van, sitting down without a glance in my direction. The van moved forward and Zayn made conversation with everyone except for me. I had never decided if I was going to tell Zayn about last night, but I knew I was going to have to. But it was going to be hard if he wouldn’t even look at me. I had no idea why, either.
We got to the photo shoot and it lasted a few hours. Once it was over, we all stopped for something to eat and made our way back to the flats. Zayn was the first one to rush out of the van, but before he could get away, I grabbed his arm, “Can we talk?”
He glared at me, “I guess.”
I followed him to his flat and he let me in. I didn’t bother sitting down, “Are you alright?”
He laughed sarcastically at me, “Am I alright? You kissed my girlfriend, Harry.”
My eyes bugged out a little, “No I didn’t. She kissed me.”
He rolled his eyes, “Bullshit. She told me what happened.”
I struggled to keep my voice even, “What, that she came to my flat and flung herself on me?”
“You’re a fucking liar, Harry.”
“What the hell did she tell you?”
He glared at me, “She told me that she went over there to check up on you and you told her to come inside. Then you pushed her up against a wall and fucking kissed her. Why would you do that? You’re supposed to me my mate,” he spat.
I finally raised my voice, “That’s a bloody lie, Zayn! She came there and she kissed ME. I told her to go.”
“I think you just needed to ease your broken heart with what you do best. That’s all you have ever done, Harry, is get with girls. You really expect people to think you have changed just because of one girl?”
I looked away from him, “You’re right, Zayn. I’m incapable of change.” I looked up into his golden eyes, “But if you know me so well, you should know one thing I am not is a liar.”
He just looked at me and I turned and left his flat. I hated how people thought so low of me. I did get with many girls but not anymore. Not after Aria. I had never been in love before and now that I was, I didn’t want to give it up. I pulled out my phone, calling the girl that meant everything to me and more. I had screwed up and I just hoped she would forgive me. Again.
I eyed Perrie awkwardly. I had never been close to Perrie, so the idea of her checking up on me was strange. What Aria had told me flashed through my mind but I pushed the thoughts away.
