Unexpected Fate
Chapter 25
Aria’s POV
It had been two weeks since I felt London, and the whole time I had been MIA, excepting for my chat with Gemma. I just worked from home. If I needed anything, I would just text Suzan and she would bring it over after work. Which is what I was waiting on at this exact moment. I got out of the shower, throwing my hair in a bun and pulling on my black Victoria Secret sweat pants and my pink tank top. My call box rang, and I pushed the button, not even worrying about asking who it was. There was a knock at the door and I opened it, seeing Suzan with a paper bag full of groceries and plastic bag full of Italian take out. She smiled at me, “Hey, sweetie.”
I moved out of the doorway, smiling at her, “Hola.”
She snickered, going to the kitchen, placing the bags on the table, “You know, I’m not going to keep doing this. I love you and all, but you are going to have to go back outside… You’re looking a little pale.”
I rolled my eyes at her, lifting myself up to sit on the counter, “I know. Things just need to die down a little… I’d rather not step outside and get gutted by a fan.”
She just shook her head, taking two take out boxes and handing one to me with a fork, “They go too far. But still, you can’t hide in your apartment forever. Whatever happened to trying to talk to Harry?”
I opened the box that was full of Carbonara, and began to stuff my face in a very un-lady-like manner, “I will talk to him… When the time is right.”
Suzan leaned up against the counter. She started to eat her own food that looked like lasagna, but instead of eating with her mouth full, like me, she swallowed first, “You keep saying that! When is it ever going to be right, Aria? I thought what Gemma said to you sunk in a little.”
I continued eating, “It did, but it still doesn’t take the fear of getting rejected away.”
She sat down her box and pulled out her phone, “Alright, that’s it. I didn’t want to have to show you this until you were talking to Harry again, but it looks like that could be awhile.”
I raised an eyebrow at her as she searched through her phone. She walked over to me; pressing something and holding it close so I could hear. I heard a familiar voice and then Suzan talking. It took me a minute to realize that the familiar voice was Perrie and when I realized, my lips turned into a sneer.
Suzan’s voice rang out of the phone, “Actually, I was wondering how Harry is doing, since you decided to take it into your own hands and split him and Aria up?”
My mouth dropped at her questions. Perrie replied, “I didn’t split them up. She did that all on her own.”
“But didn’t you tell her about the article?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“I don’t really think that is any of your business.”
“Hey, I hate her as much as you do. She was a total bitch when she worked here; always bossed me around to get her coffee.”
I looked at Suzan, shocked and she just winked at me. “Really…”
“I think how you handled the whole situation was totally genius. I just wanted to know what your reasoning was.”
I sent daggered glares at Suzan and she rolled her eyes, “Oh stop. You know I was just acting.”
I stayed silent, listening further, “You really wanna know?”
There was no answer but she continued to speak, “I told her I knew she was up to something and I would tell everyone in a heartbeat, when I truthfully didn’t know anything. I just wanted to scare the little bitch, and then I found out she had actually been up to something, which just made it all the better. I hadn’t liked her from the moment I heard about her because she was a nobody who thought she could just sweep into the boys lives and act like she was somebody. But then fate turned in my favor.”
My stomach twisted and I felt sick to my stomach. That was really the reason why she hated me? Because I was nobody special?
Suzan shot me a sympathetic look, “There is more.”
I sighed. I didn’t think I really wanted to hear anymore but I continued to listen. “Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.”
“Thank you. Now that she’s gone, maybe I could console Harry, if you know what I mean.”
My jaw fell to the floor and I just stared at Suzan. “I thought you were with Zayn?”
“Babe, Zayn is great, but every woman wants a little taste of Harry Styles, and what better timing than when he is in a fragile state.”
Suzan put her phone away and I just stared into space. So she didn’t like that fact that I was a nobody, who pulled Harry Styles. My stomach was in knots and I felt like crying but I held it all back. What if Harry and her already got together? Images started to flash through my mind and I shook them away. If that happened, I don’t think I would be able to be with him. I needed to talk to Harry and fast.
“Where’s my phone?” I got down from the counter, and walked into the living room, searching.
Suzan followed me, “I don’t know. What are you doing?”
I went into my bedroom, “Calling Harry.”
My phone was on my bed and I snatched it, scrolling down through the contacts. I wasn’t sure what I was going to say, but I knew I had to warn Harry about Perrie. Without thinking, I pressed call and held the phone up to my ear. I sat on the edge of the bed, waiting. I began to get discouraged with each ring. Finally, the voice that I haven’t heard in two weeks, spoke. My heart fluttered at the sound of his low, accented voice, “Aria.”
No words seemed to be able to escape from my mouth. I had totally melted at the angelic sound of him speaking. Everything I had done and how I had left, seemed so stupid now. If I would have just told him, none of this would have happened. Tears flooded to my eyes, not out of sadness, but more of joy that he actually answered. My words finally came out, but sounding quiet and small, “I am so sorry.”
“I’m sorry too. I shouldn’t have said what I did.”
“Harry, you had every right. I should have told you sooner.”
Harry chuckled. I had missed that sound, “Love, are we really going to argue over who’s sorry for what?”
I laughed lightly, sniffling, “You’re right. We were both ridiculous.”
I could almost see his smiling face, “That we were, babe.”
I looked over at Suzan who was leaning against the door frame. She looked pleased but then I remembered what had made me actually call Harry. “Harry… I need to tell you something.”
Harry sounded a little worried, “What is it?”
I didn’t know how to tell him that his best mate’s girlfriend was after his gravy. I took a shaky breath, “It’s Perrie.”
He sounded confused, “What about her?”
I pinched the bridge of my nose with my thumb and index finger, closing my eyes. Harry knew nothing about what she said to me at Zayn’s flat or on New Year’s Eve. I really didn’t know how to start…
Harry’s POV
I had just gotten back from recording with the boys, when my phone started ringing. When I saw her name pop up, my heart started to race and I couldn’t decide if I wanted to pick it up or not. There was nothing more I wanted than to hear her voice, but I didn’t know what I was going to say. After we had said our silly apologies, she told me she needed to tell me something about Perrie, which left me utterly confused.
She didn’t say anything but I just kept silent, waiting. She finally began to speak, “When I went to apologize to Perrie, she acted like she accepted my apology, but then she whispered to me that she thought I was up to something and that when everyone finds out, she will be back on top. I decided to just ignore her. But then New Year’s came, and she told me that she knew about the magazine. So I told you. Then, Suzan talked to her when she was at her interview and she admitted that she never liked me. She said that I was a nobody and that now she wants you.”
I was quite dumbfounded at what she just told me. Perrie wanted Aria out of the way so she could get with me? That made no sense! She had Zayn. Why would she want me? I just couldn’t believe what she said, “There’s no way, Aria. She loves Zayn. Why would she do that?”
She was quiet for a moment, “You don’t believe me?”
Did I? Not really… None of what she told me made sense. I had known Perrie for awhile and she had never made any moves on me before and she seemed to really love Zayn. “Aria I… I just find that hard to believe…”
She didn’t say anything. I wanted to believe her so badly, but I just couldn’t. Ever since I met Perrie, she never insinuated that she had a thing for me, it was always Zayn. No matter how hard I just wanted to just say ‘I believe you,’ I couldn’t.
She finally spoke, sounding sad, “I understand. I don’t have your trust anymore.”
“Aria, that’s not i-.”
She interrupted me, “No. It is. I’ve gotta go.”
The call ended and I felt horrible. It wasn’t that I didn’t trust her. It just seemed so farfetched. I tried to call her back but she wouldn’t answer. A few mintues later, my phone dinged with a text message from Louis:
Zayn and I are staying at the studio a little longer. Catch dinner tomorrow instead?
I replied to Louis and then went to the kitchen to make me something to eat. The door bell rang when I sat down to eat my sandwich. I stood up, heading to the door. I opened it and there stood Perrie, “Hey, Perrie. Did Zayn forget to tell you he is staying late?”
She smiled at me like she has never smiled at me before. It was seductive, “Oh, I know. I came here to see you just to make sure you are doing alright.”
It had been two weeks since I felt London, and the whole time I had been MIA, excepting for my chat with Gemma. I just worked from home.
