The next morning, as the speakers were blowing with Rihanna’s songs, I brushed my teeth and straightened my hair.

I wore a floral dress with matching sandals. Sprayed my favorite perfume, unplugged my ipod and went downstairs.

“Play it cool…. Be arrogant…. You’re Ashley Colton.” I thought to myself.

A woman with bob hair style, wearing a blue glasses, black hair and pale skin, was sitting at the dining table, drinking coffee and reading a newspaper.

George was standing next to her. She was surely Viola Verona, my step mom.

As George saw me, he coughed and waited for her to put down the newspaper. I rolled my eyes and sat right in front of her.

She took a sip of her coffee and put the papers down and stared at me. He motioned at me to stand up but I just glared at him.

“You must be Ashley, right?” she said and took off her glasses, held it in her hand. I grabbed a toast and put it in my plate and looked at her.

“And you must be Viola Verona!! Nice to meet you!” I said with a fake smile and spread some butter on my toast.

“I am. and also, I’m your dad’s wife and your stepmom.

I got upset when you wasn't home last night when we arrived.” She said.

“I didn’t know you change your flight.” I said simply.

“I called her and informed her about that, mrs Colton.” George interrupted.

I gritted my teeth and glared at him.

I sometimes wondered how my father trusted him.

She stared at me and lifted her head up.

“Is that true, Ashley?” she asked.

Where was this going?

“Yes. But something happened and I arrived a little late.” I replied politely.

“Well… as I want to be a good stepmom, I’ll forgive you this time. But next time that you arrive late, you’ll be grounded.” She said and took a sip of her coffee.

I saw that George smiled in satisfaction.

My jaw dropped open. “Come again?” I said.

“Next time that you arrive late, you’ll be grounded. By the way, today I’m going shopping and you’re coming with me.” she said and stood up and left the room, with George following her.

I was right… she was a bitch!! An annoying one!! I bit my lower lip in anger and finished my breakfast and ran upstairs to see my dad.

I had to talk to him about that bitch!

Grounded?

Me?

Huh!! Of course she was joking…

He wasn’t in his room.

I turned back to go to my room that I bumped into someone and we both fell down.

“Aw!!” I said as my elbow hit the ground.

I looked up and saw a boy, wearing a beanie, pierced ears, sitting on the ground, rubbing his head.

“Who the hell are you?” I snapped at him.

“Who the hell are YOU?” He snapped back.

I narrowed my eyes at him.

He was wearing a pair of denim jeans with a white t-shirt.

“Oh there you are!!!” George said and was about to help me that I slapped his hand away and stood up myself.

George looked at me then at that guy and helped him to stand up.

“I see that you’ve met Ashley!!” he said to that guy.

“Who the hell is he?” I snapped at George.

“He… he’s mrs Colton’s son, James.” He explained.

My jaw dropped open again.

That bitch had a… son?!

WHY DID MY DAD MARRY A WOMAN THAT HAD A SON?

“Who the hell is she?” James pointed at me.

“I’M… I’M….” I was going to yell at him that George scolded in.

“She’s your step sister, Ashley Colton.” James looked me up and down.

“see ya ‘round sis!!” he said and winked at me and walked away.

I sighed loudly and went to my room and slammed the door shut.

This was just perfect… I was sure of one thing… the argument/ stressed –free days of my life was over.
