The Birth
Chapter 17
'Push...' Eleanor said.
'I'm trying.' I panted.
'Keep going!' The nurse said.
'Arghhhhhhh!' I shouted,'Arghhhhhhh!'
'Here she is.' The nurse said holding a very purple baby that was crying it's head off. El cut the umbilical cord.
'This is the full baby.' Dr Guille said,'Do you have a name?'
'Aislyn Kendra Horan...' I panted.
'Aislyn Kendra Horan? I thought your name was Calder.'
'It is. The father is Horan.'
'Ok, name: Aislyn Kendra Horan, weight: 7lbs 2oz and date/time of birth: 23:56 09/06/2014.'
'She has the same birthday as Johnny Depp.' El said.
'El, how the hell do you know that?...' I said.
'I know things.' She said smugly.
'Ok the next baby will be around in the next 10 minutes.' The midwife said.
'Hang on, what time did you say it was?' El asked.
'23:56.' Dr Guille said.
'If the baby is gonna come in the next 10 minutes then she will be born on June 10th!' El said.
'So?' I said.
'Then they won't be proper twins.'
'El it doesn't matter.'
'It matters to me! I want proper twin nieces!!!'
'Calm your face!' I shouted. She shut up,'I don't need this drama when I'm about to push a 8 pound baby out my clacker so please SHUT UP!' Everyone in the room was shocked at my sudden burst of anger. It was silent for another few minutes. I heard a church bell ring 12 times in the distance.
'Happy June 10th.' I said to brighten everyone's mood. It didn't work. I felt a sudden pain. I clutched my stomach.
'The baby's coming.' El said.
'You think!' I said. I did a whole lot more pushing and a baby appeared (don't want to go into details because it's too disgusting). This baby didn't cry. It sang.
'La, La, La.' It said. Everybody, including me, cooed over the singing baby.
'No wonder it sang she shares the same birthday as Judy Garland, also known as Dorothy from 'The Wizard of Oz', I wonder if she can dance because Danielle Peazer is 26 today.' El stated.
'Shut up.' I said. She put her hands in the air to surrender.
'Name?' Dr Guille asked.
'Gemini Kevay Horan.'
'Ok so name: Gemini Kevay Horan, weight: 8lbs 1oz and date/time of birth: 00:02 10/06/2014.' Dr Guille said writing it down. Dr Guille put his head up to Gemini's chest.
'I here something irregular with her heartbeat. It's beating with a strange sound. I think we might need to check her out.' Dr Guille said.
'is she going to be alright?' El asked.
'That's what we're going to find out, Miss Calder.' Dr Guille took my baby away.
'El..' I whispered.
'Yeah.' She said.
'Can you ring Niall for me?' I asked.
'Sure.' She took my phone out of my purse. She switched it on,'What's your passcode?'
'NiallsPrincess.' I said. She smiled. The phone started to dial. I heard a phone ringing outside in the corridor. Suddenly Niall burst into the room. His phone was ringing.
'Niall? You came?' I said.
'I came.' He said. He sat down on my bed and took my hand,'Have they been born yet.'
'Yes Aislyn is over there.' I said.
'Where's Gemini?' He asked.
'She's gone with Dr Guille because she had an irregular heartbeat.'
'Will she be alright?'
'We hope.' We sat in silence for a while longer.
'I just remembered the reason I came.' Niall said. Me and El looked at each other thinking that we already knew. He came for the babies. He got down on one knee and I thought (because I wasn't thinking straight having just had 2 babies) he was tying his shoe. He brought out a little, red, velvet box (which I thought had laces in). El had obviously caught on and put her hands to her mouth. He opened the box so I could see a very sparkly ring. It was gold with a blue sapphire in the middle and 2 clusters of diamonds either side. Suddenly I caught on.
'Niall I-' I started.
'Let me speak.' He said. I nodded,'Juliet Georgia Calder, will you do me the honour of being my wife?'
'Yes...' I said quietly. He slipped the ring on my finger and kissed me gently.
'I love you.' He whispered breaking away.
'I love you too.' I said. Dr Guille barged into the room holding Gemini.
'Bad news, Gemini Kevay Horan has a hole in her heart.'
