Chased Across the World

Frenemies?

Callie’s POV:

I still can’t believe it. Ethan’s sitting in my living room. My living room. Anyone else think there is something wrong with that statement? Besides the fact that I never talk to him anymore, I don’t even like him. He isn’t even an acquaintance! And so here I sat, elbows resting on my knees as I stared at him. We were sitting opposite of each other, me on the leather couch, him on the recliner. He cleared his throat awkwardly, glancing around the room.

“So what the fuck do you want?” I said, not caring if my language offended him. He was like Jasmyne that way. Swearing wasn’t something either of them enjoyed, but when they are freaking out, you can’t stop the train of swears that pour out of their mouths. I’ve known both of them long enough to know that.

His eyes meet mine. “I need to talk to you.”

“I fucking got that.” He scowled at me, but I really couldn’t give two-shits about what he thought of me.

“Look, I know Jasmyne’s missing and that you hate me, but you need to work with me here. I know something that I think you might want to know.” I rolled my eyes, pretending not to care. But on the inside, I was dying to know what he did.

“What, Ethan?” I asked as politely as I could possibly ask to someone I hated.

“I think I can help find Jasmyne.” I instantly leaned forward to make sure I heard him right.

“Excuse me?” I questioned, blinking multiple times. I wanted to go and clean my ears out just to make sure I heard right. It just couldn’t be possible though. We hated each other.

As if he read my mind, he replied, “I know it sounds crazy because of how we feel about each other, but I think I can help. And just because I don’t like you, doesn’t mean we can’t help each other find Jas.” He finished speaking, but I was barely listening. I was stuck on the part where he said he wanted to help. How in the world could he help?

“What can you do that the police can’t?” I snapped, unwilling to believe he was being sincere. No reason to have false hope though, right?

“We both know the police aren’t going to do anything Callie.” I tried to find a flaw in his words, but there was none. Though, I was not ready to admit defeat just yet.

“You don’t know that.” Even as I said the words, I knew they held no truth. Anyone would know that. Ethan eyed me, giving me a look that told me he knew I was lying through my teeth. “Fine, why the fuck do you think I want you’re help. News flash! I don’t like you.” I clapped my hands for the added dramatic effect. It was stupid, but it made me feel a little better about having this douche in my house.

“Look, I know some people who might be able to help us find her.”

“Like who?”

“I can’t tell you, but I swear on your life that if anyone can find her, they can.” I squinted at Ethan, looking at him with suspicion. Did he really expect me to believe that?

“What’s the catch?” His eyes widened in what seemed to be surprise.

“N-no catch.” He stammered. Another thing Jasmyne and him had in common. The nervous habit of stuttering.

I laughed obnoxiously. “Spill, asshole.” He glared at me.

“Only if you stop with the name calling.” He pouted. Oh my god. He’s such a baby.

“Whatever you say,” I agreed, “douche bag.” He continued to glare. I smiled sweetly, enjoying every minute of his anger.

“Look, Callie. You need to believe me. Do it for Jasmyne.” This I was the one glaring. How dare he use Jasmyne against me?

“Are you fucking serious? You expect me to just go along with your plan and not ask questions? You obviously are confused.” I snorted, crossing my arms and looking away. I wouldn’t let him use my best friend against me. That’s just cruel.

“I’m not expecting that. But you need to work with me. We have to help her.”

“I know that.” I snapped, unwilling to be lectured about how best to save Jasmyne.

“Then work with me.”

I sighed, leaning forward to rest my elbows on my thighs. “Why do you want my help?” I asked, interested to hear the answer. Normally, I’m last on the list of people to call if you need help. So why is Ethan here?

“Look, Ethan. I need you to know this. I hate you. I despise you. I never want to look at your face. But you are right, as much as I hate to admit it. You can help me and I can help you. But I’m only doing this if you tell me more about your connections. That’s the only way.” I raised my eyebrows, awaiting his response.

I heard him sigh defeatedly, his head falling. “My dad knows people in high places, okay?” He looked away, trying to avoid my pestering. Oh, that is so not happening. He’s on my territory now.

“What are we talking here? Government?” I asked, actually interested in his answer. I honestly never thought I’d care about what Ethan said...ever. He nodded in response to my question.
“Wow, nice kid.” I jokingly praised, partially meaning the words I spoke. He turned back to meet my hard gaze.

“So are you in?” That was the million dollar question, now wasn’t it? For one, I could say no, maybe beat him up a bit, and then send him on his way. But then I’d be no closer to finding Jasmyne than before. Or I could say yes and use his connections to my advantage. If they even exist. Though, there is really no reason to lie about something like that. I studied him. His eyes were questioning, but they looked sincere and honest. I groaned, despising myself for what I was about to say.

“Yeah, I’m in.”

Kidnapper's POV:

I whipped out my phone, turning on the right application. Ah, there she is. I studied my treasure, my prize silently. I still can't believe she's all mine. Not that I've been to see her yet, but that will happen soon enough. I thanked myself once again for placing the hidden cameras in her room. It looked like she was sleeping right now. Her brown hair hung about her face, hiding her features from the rest of the world. I could see her chest rising and falling in a steady rhythm.

I can't wait to get my hands on her. Normally, I'd have already visited her, but she has a sort of aura about her. It's almost like she's resolved to escape no matter what. It'd only been about 3 or 4 weeks since I got her, but she hasn't broken...yet. I will break her. I will tear her down brick by brick and when she's at her lowest. When she's begging me to take her and make her mine. When she can't bear to be without me. Only then will it all end....

Only then...

Notes

And done! That was fun to write! I like being Callie, not as much as Jasmyne, but it's fun! Lol I hope everyone enjoyed it! And now that I've introduced a few more characters...

Who do you think the kidnapper is as of right now?

Tell me what you think, how you feel, anything. Thank you all so much! I'll update again soon. <3
