Chased Across the World
Not For You
**In the distant future**
"When's he gonna get here?"
"I don't know. Better get here quick though. She's looks dead." I felt one of them lean closer to my face.
"Who cares?" I think this ones name was Zayn.
"DUDE!" And I believe that one is called Louis.
The boys all started talking over each other, voices overlapping and increasing in volume. Somehow I felt compelled to agree with Zayn. Who cares? I sure as hell don't think I do anymore. I can't even remember the date or how long it's been since I was kidnapped. Maybe like 2 weeks? I don't know...being locked in a basement/cellar thing messes with your head. At least they upped my food intake. They upgraded to real food now. Not anything crazy, but bread is no longer my only source. I don't think any of the boys realize that I'm awake and listening to their conversations. Should I say something?
"Guys, where's Harry?" Niall asked.
"How the hell should we know? He ditches us all the time." Zayn said.
"You know that's not true." Liam answered.
"Harry would never do that!" Louis concluded. Who the hell is Harry? Silence filled the room. Did I just say that out loud? Oh...
"Guys, did you hear that?" One of the guys asked. I felt their eyes burning holes into my skin. I sighed, wishing I could have kept my mouth shut. Lifting my head, I opened my eyes.
"I said...who the hell is...Harry?" I muttered, despite the pain it caused my dry throat. As I looked up, I noticed the brightness in the room. I instantly shut my eyes again, secluding myself in the darkness. As soon as the black spots disappeared from my vision, I tried again only slower. Little by little, my eyes adjusted to this new light. My gaze scanned the room, taking in the plush furniture and decorative fixtures that adorned the walls and tables. This was not a cell. This was a full-blown room. There was a bed that looked comfy as shit, a couch that looked to die for, and i think I am even in love with the painted walls.
Dragging my eyes to face front, I saw the 4 boys that have been visiting my "room". Starting from the left, I studied them. The first was blonde with bright blue eyes. He offered a small smile that immediately had me glaring. Next was a hazel-eyed guy with really dark hair. Unlike the first, he just glared at me. Hmm I think that would be Zayn. Just a guess though. Then was a boy with dirty blonde hair and brown eyes. His eyes held sincerity and for some reason, I actually believed it was real. It was naive though. Come on, I just got kidnapped and these guys are doing nothing to help. Last but not least was a boy with brown hair and blue eyes. He was just looking at me with awe on his face. My eyes darted back and forth between the four of them.
"Great, she's alive. Can we leave now?" Zayn snarled. I shrank back in my chair as far as I could go. Muscles tensed and I sat back, waiting for something bad to happen. Luckily, one of the others leapt to my rescue.
"Zayn." I recognized his voice, identifying the brown-eyed boy as Liam. He turned towards me. "Jasmyne? What he means to say is we're glad you're finally awake." I rolled my eyes at his stupidity.
"I've b-been awake." My cheeks flushed with embarrassment at the way my voice cracked. Liam offered a small smile. I glared.
"Jas we-" The brown-haired boy began. Louis.
"Don't. Call me that." I spat. Even with a cracking voice, I managed to put as much venom into those four words as possible. But even with the anger flowing through my veins, tears were filling my eyes, teetering on the rim of my eyelids.
"Oh, here we go." Zayn muttered, turning around and storming out of the room. I sniffled, blinking away the waterworks. They weren't going to get me anywhere here.
"I'm sorry." Louis said in a small voice. I almost felt bad for him. Wait. Who am I kidding? He should be showering me with pity. I'm the one tied to a chair.
The blonde spoke up. Now that's a voice I knew as Niall's. "We're all sorry." I sighed, which only ended with me coughing. I'd been coughing a lot lately. It hurts a lot. Spasms rack my body as I cough and hack. I feel a light hand rubbing my back, soothing the pain just a bit. When the coughs past, I looked up to see Niall's big blue eyes. I silently thanked him and he nodded, stepping away.
"Jasmyne, what-" Liam tried to say, but I cut him off.
"Where am I?" He opened his mouth, but closed it just as fast.
"I can't tell you."
"Why. Not." I growled, ignoring the pain that seized my body.
"He'll kill you." I froze at his whispered words. Quiet or not, I still heard him. He wouldn't even meet my stare.
"Who?" I replied just as soft.
"He kill everyone if we tell you anything." He must have picked up on my confusion. "You're family. You're friends. Us. Everyone. He'll kill us all." His words put me at a loss.
"Then why are you all here?"
He sighed. "Our own reasons. Nothing you need to worry about." I glanced at the other two that were still in the room. They just frowned at me, pouting their lips sadly.
"You have to help me." I muttered, pleading at them with my eyes. I let the tears come back and fill my eyes. But they would not fall.
Niall spoke up. "What do you think we are trying to do?" He asked softly. He didn't mean it rudely. It was the truth.
"Just let me go. I'll find my own way home." Louis shook his head.
"You'd never make it out alive." He said. "The only reason you're alive now is because we convinced him that it was smarter to wait you out." Oh. My. god. They saved my life. Maybe not forever, but they at least gave me time. I wanted to throw my arms around them and shower them with praise. But...
"How do I know you guys didn't kidnap me?" I asked, eyeing each one with a new-found suspicion. Liam met my gaze.
"If you've been up as long as you say you've been, you'd know the answer to that question." I dropped my gaze to the floor. He was right, of course. Huh...that sounds familiar. My head snapped up.
"Who's Harry?"
"Why?" Louis asked, his voice holding a sort of protectiveness.
"I need to meet him." I stated. What if he was the boy who promised to help? What if he was the same boy from the beginning, when I hurt my arm? I just knew I had to meet him. I had to.
"Why?"
"Because."
Louis went to speak, but was interrupted as the door swung open. Zayn poked his head in. "Not that I care much about what happens to her, but I thought you should know that he wants to meet her now. He doesn't want to wait any longer." Fear gripped me as panic set in. The boys all spun to look at me.
Niall spoke first. "Jasmyne, we have to go. But we'll be back. He'll probably bring us with him. But you can't know us. Pretend you've never seen us before." My mouth shaped an "o" as my jaw dropped. They were going to let this happen. Liam spoke next. "Don't do anything stupid. Just do what he says. We'll do whatever we can to help you out. But we can't give ourselves away. I hope you'll forgive us." Louis came next. "Try to stay calm. And I'm sorry." The words fell in a rush as all three sped out the door, leaving little clouds of dust. That left Zayn and I alone. He looked at me.
"I don't care about you at all, but I really hope you survive this. Not for your sake, not for mine, but for someone else who, unlike you, shouldn't be in this mess at all. If it wasn't for you, he'd be free by now. So for his sake, I'll help you out. For his sake, I hope you survive. Remember that."
"When's he gonna get here?"
