Chased Across the World
Who the Hell??
My head jerked up at the loud boom, eyes darting to every suspicious shadow and corner. A stream of light entered the room through the now open doorway, brightening the still dark room. A figure stood in the frame, though I couldn't really see the person. I squinted in a desperate attempt to figure out who it was, but my eyesight failed me. A laugh echoed through the room as the person sauntered forward gracefully, easily. I flinched, thrashing around in my seat once again.
"Jasmyne..." The voice whispered hotly in my ear. I cringed at the close proximity, trying to scoot away. It was a man. The voice gave him away. "What are you doing down here all alone?" Even in the dark, I could sense the smirk growing on his face.
Gritting my teeth, I managed to spit out my words, "Who are you?" A finger touched my shoulder, trailing down my arm to my wrist and up again. I tried to hold back a shudder. Shouldn't have worn a tank top today.
"Where's the fun in that?" He chuckled, letting his finger wander around my shoulder blades and to the other arm.
"Wh-who said this was fun?" I stammered, my body shaking as goosebumps rose up on my skin.
He leaned down to my ear, breathing warmly on my neck. "Do you want to know who I am?" I nodded furiously. "Are you sure?"
"Please." I pleaded, closing my eyes, hoping the man would tell me something, anything.
"Some secrets are better left alone Jasmyne. Something some people never learn." My eyes jerked open.
"What do you mean?" I gasped, trying to spin around and find the man. I wanted to grab him by the shoulders and shake the answers out of him. And that's coming from me, the good girl.
"Leave it alone, Jasmyne. You'll know soon enough." His laughter followed him as he walked back toward the door. His footsteps resonated in my head, loud and clear.
"Wait no, please!" I called out, more tears falling from my eyes. "Let me go!" Even from my chair, I saw him shake his head no. "Then just get it over with. Do what you plan on doing now." I just wanted out. If this wasn't going to end now or soon, the least he could do was just get it over with. Don't most kidnappers just kill you and move on. That'd be better than the suspense of which day's going to be your last. Anything would be better than that.
"Not in my job description." He chuckled, the door slamming shut with a resounding bang. The chair scuffled and shook as I threw myself right and left, trying to yank the knots loose, trying to do anything but sit here and wait. Tears streamed down my face, but I didn't feel them. I have to get out. I have to escape. A gasp left my lips as my chair tilted to the side. For what seemed like forever, I hung there on the verge of falling to the ground, but not quite there. But I got there with one last nudge. And slowly, I felt gravity take over, pulling me toward the floor.
Boom. The sound burst into the area like a gunshot. I was on my side, my face plastered to the floor. Cement, of course. Ow. My nose. I know that I shouldn't be complaining about a bit of a bump. But really, come on. Having your face slammed into the concrete floor. Now that hurts. A lot. I tried pulling my hands from behind my back, but pain flared up my right arm. Yep, that's broken for sure. What's worse than having your nose hit the floor? Having your arm come first.
Now I had two options. Scream for help and hope to god someone comes. Or stay here like a moron and cry. Hmmm. Not much of a choice there really?
"Hello?" I shouted. "Is anyone there? Please!" My shouts lasted for a solid ten minutes before anyone bothered to crack open the door.
"Shit. He's not gonna like this."

A hand grasped my left shoulder, pulling me off the ground. My arm screamed in protest, but how could I argue with the guy who just saved me from a whole lot of pain. I glanced up, peeking through my eyelashes at my savior. No one was there.
I swung my head side to side, finally catching a glimpse of a moving shadow. The form moved with ease and grace, but he wasn't as intimidating. I don't know. Maybe it's because I know he helped me.
A light turned on to my right, making me wince at the sudden brightness. I still couldn't make out the face of my savior, but I could see his eyes. Green, a pretty shade too. His hand landed on my right shoulder, lifting it up painfully. I let out a whimper, but he ignored it, focusing on assessing the damage.
"Stupid." He mumbled, raising my arm and trying to bend it. It wasn't until then that I realized my wrists were unbound. Must have snapped from something on the ground. The knowledge flooded my mind, the pain temporarily numbed as I realized the new power I had. My gaze flickered up to the boy. He had to be about my age based off what little I could see of him. Maybe when he turned around, I could run and slip through the door. Where would I go after that? Then again, who cares? I'd be free! My eyes snapped back to the door.
"Don't even think about it." He growled, bending my arm in a way I think he knew would hurt. I yelped, wrenching my arm from his grasp despite the burst of pain the action caused. I glared at the guy, holding my arm close to my chest.
"You're insane. You know that right?" Ignoring the pain, I scowled at him.
"Me? Says the one who kidnapped me in the first place." He chuckled.
It was a nice laugh.
Shit. Shut up. He kidnapped me.
Focus.
"Never knew you to be feisty." He said in my ear. I pushed myself into the back f the chair, attempting to increase the distance between us. Of course, my feet were still tied so...
"Same old Jasmyne." He joked, returning to examining my arm after he stole it from where I had it.
"What's th-that supposed to mean?" I questioned, aiming my gaze toward him. He turned with a sigh, letting go of my arm.
"Still don't remember me, Jas?" He asked cheekily, as if he knew something about me that even I didn't know. I stayed silent. Unfortunately, he took that as my answer. Leaning back down, he pressed his lips to my cheek. Before I could pull away, he removed them and placed his mouth by my ear. His breath warmed my cold skin. Goosebumps rose up on my cheek and neck as he laughed.
"Dont worry. You will soon."
Aw, shit.
