Tears pouring out of my eyes as I looked at our entwined hands, I glanced back up into his gleaming green orbs that were threatening to spill tears, and inhaled deeply as I let go, prying his fingers off mine. I heard him very softly, almost inaudibly, gasp and then just watched as I ran away, my thick curls rushing from side to side.

"Samara!"

His words pierced the empty, dark street outside the ice-cream shop that held the happy moments not so long ago, and I started sobbing loudly as I sprinted as fast as I could to get away from him.

"Samara! Wait, PLEASE!"

I could hear the clatter of his sneakers against the pavement, echoing off the walls of the alley I had turned down. I didn't dare turn around, knowing the sight of my boyfrien- ex, boyfriend- would break my heart right down the middle, in a perfectly jagged line. I could hear him whimper softly as he realised he couldn't catch me because of my determination to get away, and I heard him stop in his tracks and yell out my name.

"Samara, I know you can't do this, but I want you to know that I love you." I stopped running. "I'm sorry that I've been making you feel this way. I didn't even realise-"

"That's my point, Harry. You didn't even realise." I whispered slightly as I wiped away the tears streaking down my face, turning around and knowing that my mascara would be everywhere.

"Harry, let me ask you one thing. If you are making me feel this way... I love and hate you at the same time... how can that be? And why..." I took a deep breath.

"Why are you my clarity?"

I sprinted into the darkness, hearing the sobs of my whole world around me, and I knew it would haunt me forever.
