Well let me tell you a story
About a girl and a boy
He fell in love with his best friend.
When she's around, he feels nothing but joy
But she was already broken, and it made her blind
But she could never believe that love would ever treat her right
But did you know that I love you? Or were you not aware?
You're the smile on my face
And I ain't going nowhere
I'm here to make you happy, I’m here to see you smile
I've been wanting to tell you this for a long while,
What's gonna make you fall in love,
I know you got your wall wrapped all the way around your heart
Don't have to be scared at all, of my love
But you can't fly unless you let ya,
You can't fly unless you let yourself fall…
Well I can tell you're afraid of what this might do
Cause we got such an amazing friendship and that you don't wanna lose
Well I don't wanna lose it either
I don't think I can stay sitting around while you're hurting babe
So take my hand
Well did you know you're an angel? who forgot how to fly
Did you know that it breaks my heart everytime to see you cry
Cause I know that a piece of you's gone, everytime he done wrong, I'm the shoulder you're crying on…

Fall- Justin Bieber

[Niall's P.O.V.]
Maybe it's too casual...

But the suit and tie?

Nooo...

What if the paps see me?

DAMMIT!

"I say go with the plaid shirt and jeans. Suit and tie is too much. Jamie looks like the chill type." Louis said as he shifted in the couch.

He kept giving me opinions whenever I came out of the room to look at myself in the mirror.

"When do I get to meet Niall's new girlfriend?" Eleanor chuckled from besides him.

"She's not my girlfriend!"

"Then why are you so spiffy?" Liam smiled.

"I still haven't got to meet her! Can I at least see a picture or something?" Harry mumbled from the kitchen.

"He has them together, as his screen saver." Zayn smiled deviously.

My eyes widened when I heard the cup get set down.

"STAY AWAY FROM MY PHONE!" I shouted as I ran to my room, beating Harry to it.

"You're no fun mate." Harry laughed as he nudged me.

"She might've texted me, and I don't want you saying something that doesn't sound like me." I huffed sarcastically as I walked away.

"Well, I hope you're ready. You've taken a while and we're all ready to go." Harry chuckled from behind me.

"Yeah... I'm just gonna go like this." I sighed as I went for a coat.

"Lets get going then!" Louis jumped and screamed out with Eleanor.

"You two are unbelievable." Zayn chuckled as he went out with Harry.

"Niall," I felt Liam pull me back by the shoulder.

"Huh?" I turned and saw he had a serious look.

"Please tell her mate. I don't want to see this go spiraling out of proportion."

"I will... I think it's time..."

"Good... Well, let's get going."

~

"What's taking so long?" I mumble as I look at my phone.

6:49

Okay, I told her to come here at seven... I'm just getting worked up.

I turn my head towards the door, noticing a bright purple bun-haired girl come in.

Jamie.

I immediately stand up and walk towards her as she examines the place.

"Do you have a reservation miss?"

"She's with me." I say as I walk up to her.

She turns towards me and lights up.

"NIALL!" She holds me in a right hug before stepping back and examining me.
"You clean up good!" She chuckled.

"And look at you!" I smiled as I waved her up and down.

"I know. I'm fabulous." I laughed along with her as we went to take a seat.
Thank god the paps were following the guys... It was almost impossible to get out of that hotel without being followed.

"So, what are we eating?"

"Someone's eager to eat."

"You have no idea... Mark won't feed me." She sighed as she scanned the menu.

"You're a chef though." I smirked.

"A lazy chef." She chuckled as she continued to flip through the menu.

"I hope this place isn't too casual or anything-"

"Casual?" Her eyes shot up at me.

"Wh-what?" I stuttered as she stared me down.

"This is like a five star restaurant to me." She laughed quietly as she looked around.
"I'm a McDonalds dollar menu kind of girl. This is like... Wow." She giggled as she set the menu down.

"Really? With all that amazing cooking you do-"

"You expected me to be like... High class? No. Everyone says the same thing." She smiled as she shook her head.

"Oh... Well... The guys thought it be a nice idea to take you somewhere a bit fancy, but, casual in a way. You know; make a good impression." I shrugged.

We should've gone to Nandos like I said...

"Niall," she tilted her head to the side and looked me in the eyes.
"Do you really want to be here?" She asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Well-"

"Good enough. Follow me!" She got out of her seat, and dragged me out.

"Wh-where are we going?" I laughed as she past through the waiters.

"We're gonna go have fun." She smiled at me, and I returned the gesture.

"I hope you know what you're doing."

It's times like these where I miss being able to go out and enjoy everything. Sure, being able to eat in the best restaurants and travel is amazing, but, you learn to miss the small things; The donut shops, coffee shops, greasy burgers, even the ice cream from a family owned business.

"It's really good!" I moaned as I tasted my chocolate ice cream.

"Right? Mark took me there to get some, and I died. Freshly made and everything." She smiled as she licked her two scoops of chocolate fudge ice cream.
"It's not a high class lobster diner, but, I say it deserves a twenty out of ten."

"More like a hundred." I mumbled through the ice cream in my mouth.

"What's your favorite food?" She casually asked.

"Your moms tamales."

"You're so lame!" She laughed.
"I don't blame you though; my mom is a great cook."

"Runs in the family." I winked at her.

"Oh stop." She mumbled and looked away.

"Are you blushing?" I chuckled as I stood in front of her.

"No! Niall!" She turned and walked the opposite direction.

"YOU ARE!" I ran around and stopped in front of her again.

"STOP!" She chuckled as she looked down to the ground.
"IM HUMAN OKAY!" She screamed with laughter in her voice.

"I would say the color in your cheeks match your hair, but, it isn't pink anymore."

"Whatever!" she laughed and shoved me back a bit.
"Purple hair goes great with the fall weather." She said in her best snobby voice.

I chuckled and we continue to walk.

"I might dye it a different color though... Maybe try something normal for once." She smiled.

"Like dog shit brown?"

"I can't believe you remember that! Oh god! That's sooo embarrassing!" She groaned as she pulled her coat over her face.

"I will forever have that against you." I laughed.

"And I will forever have the fact that I beat you in FIFA against YOU!" She smiled cockily.
I then heard a splat.

"NOOO!" She pouted and we looked down to where a small brown lump was on the ground.

"Is it dog shit?"

"NIALL!" We laughed and continued to walk along.
"My poor ice cream."

"You want some of mine?" I offered. She looked at me, then the ice cream, back at me, then the ice cream.

She slowly leaned in and poked her tongue at it.

"It's yummy." She mumbled as she looked at her now one scoop of ice cream.

"And it's all mine." I smirked at her. She rolled her eyes playfully and looked up at the sky. She looked so interested in it, observing every little star that twinkled above us.

"Wait..." I turned and saw Jamie had stopped.

"What?" I looked at her a bit baffled. She looked up and around, till I saw a smile tug at her lips.

"Over there!" She ran across the street, leaving me behind.

"Hey! Hold on!" I laughed behind her.

I’m just glad that purple hair isn't common around here, or else, I would’ve lost her.

"He's amazing." Jamie smiled at the street performer.

He must've been around 16, in a black coat, white shirt under, a black fedora on top of his head, guitar in his hands, as he sat down on the steps of a local bakery.

He was singing Ne-Yo's Because Of You.

"I wish I could sing like him." Jamie smiled as she clapped along with the slowly forming audience of adults.

"And I know this much is true
Baby you have become my addiction
Im so strung out on you I can barely move
But I like it and it's all because of you."

"He's really good." I smile as I clap as well.

Once he finished, we all cheered for him.

"Awesome..." Jamie chuckled as she went up and placed couple of bills in his guitar case.
I took out a bit as well, and looked at him.

"Keep doing what you're doing man." I winked and dropped the money in.

"You're-"

"Shhh." I slowly backed away as he looked at me in surprise.

"C'mon Niall!" I turned and ran towards Jamie.
"I have somewhere I want us to go to." She smiled as she interlocked her arm with mine.

"Lets do it."

~

"WHO INVITED THE MUNCHKINS?!" A tall, dark haired, fair skinned boy laughed.

"Shut the fuck up Chris!" Jamie retorted as she went over to hug him.

"Nice to see you too!" Chris joked. He looked over to me and nodded. I nodded back and went along with Jamie.

There was a bonfire in the middle of the sand, right by the shore. There were mostly guys, and a couple of girls, sitting around, minding their business as they took in a couple of drinks and s'mores.

One of them stood up, and walked over to us.

"What are you doing here?" It was Mark. He chuckled as he looked at us with a drink in his hand.

"Can I have one?" She gave him the puppy dog look.

"James..." I came to learn that he used this nickname a lot when it came to Jamie...

He sighed and looked to me, eyebrows arching up a bit.

"Oh! Hey Niall! Didn't even say hi to you!" He chuckled as he gave me a quick one armed hug.
"Great to see you man."

"Great to see you too Mark." I smiled.

"What does Jamie want?" I asked as I furrowed my brows.

"A stick."

Wait... What?

"Umm..." I chuckled a bit, unsure of where he was going with this.

"She calls it her torch, but, it's just a stick with the end lit up."

"I just want some light!"

"Promise you won't burn your hair again?!"

"It's in a bun dimwit!"

"You might manage to!"

"Dude! It’s in a BUN! As in it's UP!"

I laughed as the two went back and forth in this, till, Mark finally gave in.

"FINE!" He stormed off, picked up a stick, and stormed back.
"Here's your fire." He handed it to Jamie and walked back with his group.

"I win." She chirped as she rocked in her heels.
"Now, let's gooo." We awkwardly walked along the edge of the shore, listening to the crash of the waves.

I would steal a glance at Jamie, and I even caught her taking glances at me.

Either that, or, she caught me.

"I saw this in a movie." Jamie said, breaking the silence.

"What?" I laughed a bit as she looked at her feet.

"Well, it was two girls and they were walking along, talking about life... And we're walking... And being awkward... With my torch." She chuckled as she looked over at me.
"I just get nervous around you." She shook her head as she looked ahead.

"You get nervous around me? I get nervous around you!" I laughed as I bumped into her a bit.

"Whaaaat?" She turned to look at me again. I nodded and continued to walk.

"I mean, I don't get nervous too often, so, consider yourself-"

"Oh don't get cocky." She frowned, and I laughed.
"Cocky is NOT a cute color on you Niall." She joked.

"I try not to be, especially cause I don’t want to come off as an unlikeable person to everyone."

"You're not... But... What do you mean?"

Now's the time to tell her...

"Oh... It's cause you're so popular at school, right?" She laughed and shoved me lightly.
"Airhead."

"I am not an airhead!" I defended.
"I am... A genuine, person. Be lucky you have me as a friend... Jerk." I pretend sniffled.

"I take it back; you are cocky." She chuckled.

"I was joking." I chuckled as I buried my hands in my pockets.

"I know. You're actually really sweet." I looked up and saw her smiling down.
"And you don't tease me for being weird..." She chuckled.
"Plus, you know how to make me laugh, and, you love food as much as me. It's hard to find people like you." She sighed and I saw a small sparkle in her eye.

"Hey, hey. Why the tears?" I stopped her and she wiped it away.

"Nothing..." She mumbled as she looked over her shoulder.

I tilted her face back towards me, grabbing a hold of her stare.

"If you're tearing up, and say its nothing, it's got to be something."

"It's a long story..." She sighed as she forced a small smile.

"Well," I took her torch and set it in the sand. I took a seat, and looked up to her as I patted a spot.
"I've got plenty of time." I smiled at her reassuringly, and she smiled back.
A genuine one this time. She planted herself close to me, only a hand width apart. She pulled her legs up to her chest, and looked towards the water. The breeze made a couple strands of her hair blow in front of her, making her seem so fragile.

She was breath taking.

"I don't know where to start." She hummed.

"Start from where the hurt began." I said softly.

"That would take me all the way back to kindergarten." She chuckled.
"But, I guess it really got to me the day of our school play." She sighed and took in a deep breath.
"It was my sophomore year. I was pretty exited because I had finally scraped off the image of an awkward, geeky, nerd who wore glasses, and turned into the sociable, smart, sweet girl. I had more confidence... And I knew I could do anything." She shifted a bit more towards me.
"I had a best friend." She lifted her hand up, and pulled her sleeves back, revealing a purple and blue friendship bracelet.
I’ve never really noticed it since she always wore long sleeved shirts or sweaters around me.
"Her name is Jasmine. Maybe you know her from school."

Not really...

"We knew each other since we were four. We always talked about being performers, photographers, dancers, artists, basically; everything. Back in sophomore year; we began to look for Colleges and Academies to go to after High school. I was dying to go to California College of the arts.” She chuckled as she tucked a stray hair behind her ear.
"The schools musical was being put on. News went around that a Head Master from another high school was coming to the play in search of talent. Of course, we needed to submit an essay as well, declaring why we should get picked. She was recruiting students to transfer into their school who were gifted with artistic talent. My current boyfriend at the time, Xjavier, and I tried out for the lead roles... And we got them." She smiled proudly.

"What play was it?" I asked softly.

"You may think it's weird, but, it was Legally Blonde." She chuckled.

"Wait, did you sing?!" I asked with amusement in my voice.

"Let's not go down that road. I like to sing, but, it's not for me. I like to express myself with movement or convey it on a piece of paper. Capture the moments." She chuckled.

"You can capture the moments on a CD and get millions. You should-" I winked.

"No. I won't sing." She held her hand up to my face and laughed.

"Back to the story then." I chuckled.

"Right..." She sighed and began to toy around with the bracelet, examining every little millimeter of it.
"When the day of the play came around, I started feeling nauseous towards the final scenes." I noticed she began to tap her feet a bit, seeming a bit nervous.
"The play manager told me that the understudy was ALSO sick."

"Doesn't that seem a bit strange?" I murmured.

"That was TOO coincidental." She nodded.
"But it all makes sense, just, hold on." She softly chuckled.
"The manager asked me if I knew anyone who would know the lines by heart and could pull off looking like me. I said Jasmine." Her voice trembled a bit and she flicked away her tear.

I shifted myself closer to her, our pinkies touching.

She looked at me and smiled, looking down at our hands.

"She hesitated at first, but, agreed to do it anyways. The final scenes came around... And... Xjavier and her did something..." She looked up to meet my eyes.
"You probably know what happened next." She tried smiling.

"It was more than a kiss, wasn't it?" She nodded and looked away.

"It didn't really bother me at first... I just thought, he was just a fucking scumbag, and I went looking for them. I was ready to dump him right there and then." She wrapped her arms around her knees.
"But I walked in at the wrong time..." She sniffled a bit, before turning over to me, her ear and cheek pressed against her knees.
"Jasmine, two friends of hers, Xjavier, and Julie were in a small group... And Jasmine yelled, with a smile on her face: I poisoned her, I got the understudy too, and now she won't go to the school!" She began to cry a bit at this point. I didn't know if wrapping my arms around her was a good idea, but, at least I felt like I was doing something.
"Julie ran up to me and told me everything; How Jasmine wanted the role... How she planned on breaking me and Xjavier up... And how she didn't want me getting that interview with the Master of the High School..." She sobbed a bit and leaned down on my shoulder.
"It was the opportunity of a lifetime... And my own best friend didn't want me to get in." I tried to soothe her by rubbing my hand up and down her back.

"Did she try explaining?"

"NO! She just stood there... Emotionless... All she did was chuckle... And pinned Julie down... Yelling nonsense to her face..." She sobbed a bit louder.
"I ran out... A-and bumped into the head master. She looked at me and said; Y-you have such an amazing talent J-jamie! It's a shame you didn't submit an essay to get in. We would've lo-loved to have you."

"You didn't write one?" I whispered to her. She stayed quiet for a second, wiping her cheeks.

"I did... But I found out from Julie that Jasmine took that as well..." She cried...

I don't like seeing her cry…

"I spent all those years building a friendship with her, just to end up getting hurt and lied to by her. And what hurts the most... Is that I trusted her with everything... I did everything with her. I don't know if I can forgive her for any of that. She knew how much it meant to me..."

"Did you try again?" I asked her softly.

She removed herself from my grip, though I was hesitant to let her out of it, and straightened herself out. She sat besides me, our shoulders touching as she wiped her tears.

"No. I didn't want to... I moved on to photography and art. The dance life is on a hold right now."

"Make it temporary. If you really loved it back then, then, who says you won't love it again? Rekindle that passion, Jamie. Don't let that one incident stop you. How are you supposed to achieve anything if you won't try it again?" I looked at her as I said this.

She turned to me and smiled.

"Thanks Niall..." She leaned in and gave me a hug.

What surprised me though, was the lingering kiss on my cheek.

"I need someone like you." She whispered into the crook of my neck.

"And I need someone like You."

I leaned forward as she looked down at the sand....

"HEY! HEY! HEY! NO KISSING!"

"YOU GET EM JAMIE!"

"GET TO THIRD BASE MAN!"

"CHRIS! SHE'S MY SISTER YOU FUCKTARD!"

Jamie and I bursted into laughter when we heard the shouts coming from Marks group.

"EY! YOU ASSHOLES RUINED OUR BONDING MOMENT!" Jamie shouted.

"THAT'S FOR CAKES!" Mark shouted back.

"I LIKE EATING CAKES!" I yelled out.

This caused a HUGE roar of laughs amongst everyone, even Jamie.

"Re-evaluate what you just said Niall." Jamie laughed.

Umm...
It's for cakes...
I like eating cakes...
Jamie's a cake-

Hmm…

"Oh. Oh... I swear I didn't even realize I said that!" I laughed in embarrassment.

"I can tell... I do that a lot too." Jamie chuckled as she got up.

I got up as well and brushed the sand off of me.

"Well... That didn't go as planned..." Jamie giggled as she used bother hands to wipe her cheeks.

"You're right... But I like the way it turned out." I smiled up to her.

She blushed and looked away.

"Aww! You're blushing-"

"STOP!" She laughed and ran away.

"HEY! Civilization is this way!" I laughed as I ran behind her.
