Never Let Me Go

Chapter 23

Harry and I spent the day in Paris like a couple of tourists, soaking in everything the breath-taking city has to offer. It was such a pleasant surprise when we landed here. I didn't think I could ever love Harry more than I already had, but I was obviously wrong. I fell even further for him.

We held hands the entire time, enjoying the sights of the city and Harry stole as many kisses as he could. He was right: this is exactly what I needed. . . What we needed. Being here with him is like one of those unrealistic romantic movies. Everything is perfect, and spending every waking second with him is more than I could ask for.

"I don't deserve you." I smiled and shook my head as we sat down on the patio of a small café so we could eat.

"I think I'm the one that is undeserving," he smiled and laced our fingers together on the table. "But I'm too selfish to give you up."

"I love you Harry," I sighed with the smile still stuck on my mouth. "I still can't believe you brought me here."

"It's beautiful, yeah?"

"It's amazing," I nodded. "Especially since in with you. Thank you for everything, Harry."

"Anything for you Aubs." He grinned before bringing out hands to his mouth and kissing the back of my palm.

"So one more night, what do you have planned?" I ask him with a smile as the waiter sets two glasses of water in front of us. Harry has had this whole trip planned to the last detail. I'm excited to see what he has in store for tonight.

"It's a surprise," he smirked before taking a sip from his water.

"Can you give me a hint?" I ask sweetly.

"Nope, but I think it will be the last thing you'd expect."

"Just tell me Harry! You know I hate surprises!" I whine playfully.

"Then that's no fun!" He persists. "I'm not telling you."

"Fine," I huff.

"Do you still love me?" He teases.

I try to keep up with my act, but his dimpled grin won't let me. I finally give in and smile. "Even though you're mean, yes." I laugh.

After lunch, we went back to the the hotel to freshen up a bit. Harry told me to wear his favorite dress of mine, leaving me even more curious as to where he was taking me tonight. I'm sure anywhere we go will be spectacular, hell, staying right here in this room all night will be amazing. I am so content just being near him, that anything involving him sounds fine by me.

"You look beautiful, Aubrey." Harry shot me an adoring smile from the door of the bathroom as I curled my hair into loose waves.

"Thank you." I smiled back at him. He wore a simple white shirt and a pair of black pants along with his usual pair of boots. Sexy as hell, of course. "Can you tell me where you're taking me yet?"

"Nope, but we should probably get going soon."

"Okay, just let me grab my purse than I'm ready." I told him as I turned off the curling iron and adjusted my dress in the mirror.

"Aubrey," he grabbed my hand as I left the bathroom.

"Yeah?" I said before my smile quickly faded noticing the somber look on his face. "Harry, are you okay?"

"I'm fine," he nodded. "I uh, I'm just having a really good time. I love you."

"I love you too, Harry." I frowned but decided not to press him further for questions. Odd.

We took a taxi across the city to a large building, surrounded by hundreds of people. I still don't have a clue where we are, but Harry's seems excited, so I'm just anxious.

"Ready, babe?" Harry takes my hand as I nod to help me out of the car. "Stay close okay?"

I nod once again and clutch his hand tighter and follow him through the massive crowd of people.

Why are there so many people? I feel like an idiot still not knowing where we are, and just when I was about to beg Harry to tell me again, I found out myself.

"Harry. . ." I stopped in my tracks seeing the large monitor when we got inside the building.

"C'mon, Aubs!" He smiled.

"You didn't.. this isn't real.. Harry." I stutter with excitement.

"You like Coldplay, right?" He chuckles lightly, obviously already knowing the answer.

"You're taking me to my favorite band of all time's concert, in Paris?" I ask, making sure this isn't a dream. I swear I am shaking from all of my excitement.

He smirks and pulls me to his side. "Yep."

"They're actually here?" I ask, still shocked.

"Yeah, they're on their world tour."

"Harry, I can't believe this! I love you so freakin' much!"

First he takes me to Paris, and then to a concert of my favorite band. I can't even begin to process this. How in the hell did I get so lucky with a guy like Harry? I've always thought the saying "no one's perfect" was accurate, but now I'm not so sure. . . I think Harry is the reason for that; He's pretty close, if not, perfect.

"I love you too, babe. Now let's get to our seats."

"This is amazing, Harry! I can see the sweat on Chris Martin's face!" I yell over the music. I'm completely star struck.

"I knew you'd be surprised, I'm glad." He smiled.

"Thank you so much, Harry." I turned to face him and pressed a deep passionate kiss to his lips. "I take back what I said earlier, you're not mean." I joked and spun back around when the band began playing one of my favorites.

Harry moved behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist and resting his chin on my shoulder as we swayed to the slow, beautiful Song.

"I'll always look out for you, that's what I'll do."

Harry hummed along to the music and sang the lyrics quietly into my ear, causing every surface of my body to be covered in goosebumps. His voice is just as amazing as Coldplay's lead singer, and the fact that I know Harry means the lyrics he's singing to me makes it so much more heart-warming.

"My heart is yours, It's you that I hold on to, That's what I do, And I know I was wrong, But I won't let you down."

As we enjoyed the music, my heart swelled at the overwhelming thoughts that consumed me. The thought that consumed me at this moment, the thought that always seems to consume me, was Harry. My heart aches for how my life has turned out. There has been quite a few hardships, but we're here, and we're better than ever. Harry is more than perfect, and I am so grateful to have such an amazing man all to myself.

Just last week, I was questioning almost every decision I had made this year, but in this moment, I have realized every decision was worth it. Sophie was wrong, Harry is my life, and I don't want to go out and experience life because I already have everything I could ever need. I have Harry, and he's all I'll ever want. . . All I'll ever need.

"Aubrey," Harry whispered, breaking me from my thoughts.

"Yeah?" I said and held his hands in front of me.

"You okay? You seem to be lost in that pretty head of yours."

"Yeah I'm great," I say before turning to face him. "I'm really great, actually. I love you Harry, thank you for everything." Wrapping my arms around his neck, I pressed my lips against his.

Leaving Harry with a satisfied, adoring smile on his face, I turned back around to watch the concert.

"Wait, Aubs,"

"Yeah?" I turn back to look at him.

His hands are shoved in his pockets, and he nervously glances at the people next to us and then focuses back to me. "I love you too." He finally says. If they weren't playing "Paradise," I would've questioned his sudden mood change, but I let it go. I got the sense he wanted to say something else, but I just pecked him on the lips and returned my focus to the stage in front of us.

"So did you have fun?"

"Are you kidding, Harry? That was a dream come true!" I tell him as we walk hand in hand out of the venue that Coldplay just rocked.

"I'm glad I could surprise you, I haven't seen you this happy in awhile." He says with a hint of a frown, and I know he still feels bad about the way he acted last week before we went to New York.

"I'm more than happy, Harry, because of you." I assure him.

"Good, because I'm happy too."

"This weekend has been perfect, it's going to be hard to go back to classes on Monday." I sigh and rest my hand on his shoulder as we walk down the street. "But it'll be nice to get back home to see gran and all of our friends."

"Yeah," Harry agrees. "are you sure you're happy, Aubs? With me?"

I stop walking and force him to quit moving as well. How could he ever think this? I suppose he's still stuck on what we argued about just last week.

"I told you, Harry, I am more than happy and that's because of you. You make me so happy, and I love you more than life itself. I couldn't be happier, really babe."

"I just want you to be happy," he sighs, taking in everything I said.

"Well now that you know I am, will you kiss me?" I smile and he finally caves into grinning himself before answering my question with a passionate kiss.
