The Mess We're In

Wrongfully Accused

I half expected Dawn to come back as soon as she left. It all played out in my head with her coming back and saying that she forgave me for being so stupid and we would be happy again.

I didn’t expect her to stay out all night.

My mind raced with all the places she could have been and even though she said she wasn’t talking to Shane I couldn’t help but wonder if I had unintentionally pushed her towards him.

I was already in a terrible mood when I made it down to the small restaurant in the hotel for an extremely early breakfast, a side effect of not sleeping last night, when I ran into the one person I probably should have stayed clear of.

Shane’s blue eyes zeroed in on me and his cocky smirk made my stomach turn and an urge to punch him made my hand twitch.

I reluctantly walked into the restaurant, consequently bringing me closer to the wanker himself.

We both stood, awkwardly at the podium waiting for the hostess to seat us. I tried my best to ignore his existence.

I would have succeed if he hadn’t choose to look at me with that all too pleased look on his face and speak.

“Trouble in paradise?”

I narrowed my eyes, glaring at the empty space behind the podium willing the girl to come back.

“It’s ok. You don’t have to answer. I heard it all.”

Something in me snapped. I spun around to look at his smug face. “What did you say?”

She wouldn’t.

There was no way Dawn would have gone to him.

She wouldn’t do that to me no matter how upset or angry she was at me... would she?

I didn’t like that it was even a question. We should never even be in this position. It was just farther proof that things had taken a bad turn with us.

I was just about to throttle the arse when a flash of bright red caught my peripheral. I sent one last glare at the blonde before shoving into his shoulder and walking right past him, all thoughts of breakfast forgotten. I had more important things to deal with.

I reached out and clamped my hand around Dawn’s arm from behind as she quietly spoke to the man behind the front desk.

She glanced over her shoulder at me before politely ending the conversation she was having and stepping closer to me.

“Where the hell did you go last night?” I hissed. It came out much more aggressive then I intended and the look on Dawn’s face let me know I had taken the wrong approached.

“What are you talking about?” She asked looking utterly confused.

“Why did you go to him?”

Again she just gave me a perplexed look.

“Harry I have no clue what you are-”

“SHANE.” I said much more loudly then I wanted to.

Her eyes widened. I wasn’t sure if it was a sign of guilt or not. I hated that I was unsure.

She just stared at me for a long moment. I could feel my nostrils flaring as I waited for her answer.

“I have no idea what you are talking about Harry.” She said in a very quiet and calm voice. “Now could you please let go of my arm, people are starting to stare and your hurting me.”

I instantly dropped her arm. I bit my lip and took a step back, honestly I didn’t like the reaction Shane managed to get out of me, the way he managed to have me react to Dawn.

“Where were you last night Dawn?” I asked again a little less hostility in my tone. I needed to know the answer.

“You think I went to him?” She asked pointing over my shoulder to where I knew Shane was probably watching this whole thing. I kept my eyes trained on her face as she furrowed her brow and frowned at my accusation. “I can’t believe you would think I would do that to you.”

I had to admit, with her words I was starting to feel like a jerk.

“Dawn-” I began to apologies because really I had no reason to go off on her like that but she cut me off, holding her hand up and looking away.

“Save it Harry.” She said turning back around to the man she had been speaking to before.

“Thank you again sir.” She said with a tight smile before side stepping me and walking away.

I knew I should follow her but I couldn’t make myself move.

How was it possible I kept making this worse for us?

I kept my eyes trained on her as she nearly walking into Louis, shaking her head as he more then likely asked her what was wrong judging by the concerned look on his face.

He watched her get in the lift then spun around to look at me as he drew nearer.

“What was that all about?” He asked raising an eyebrow at me.

I shrugged. “Why do you assume I had anything to do with it?” It came out a lot more defensive then I intended it to.

Louis only tilted his head to the side and narrowed his eyes at me.

“She’s angry because I accused her of staying with Shane last night.” I said giving in.

Louis’ eyes widened as he shook his head. “You’re an idiot Haz.”

“Why am I an idiot now? I had no idea where she went. She was mad last night when she left, who’s to say she didn’t go there just to get back at me for the whole Jasmyn thing.”

Again Louis just shook his head not hiding his disappointment which I was sure was directed at me.

“She was with me last night Harry. She asked if she could crash and I told her she could. She told me all about you’re argument. You should know that she wouldn’t go to him, even if she was mad at you, and as far as the Jasmyn thing goes, that was pretty disastrous mate. You should have known better.”

I closed my eyes at the mess this was turning into.

I was just so frustrated with everything and it was beginning to cloud my judgment.

“I need to fix this Lou. I just seem to keep messing this up more and more and I have no idea how to make it better. Dawn isn’t helping either by not talking to me. She’s become a bloody escape artist when it comes to talking about any of our problems. I just... I don’t know what to do anymore.”

Louis’ eyes softened at my words. He understood how bothered I was by all this because he understood just how deeply I felt for Dawn.

“Harry you need to make her talk to you. Don’t give her the option of running. All that’s going to happen if you do continue on the way you two are is this whole thing ending and I doubt it will end well. You need to go find her and begin by apologizing. Then you need sort this all out.”

I nodded at his words. He was right after all.

I was just about to do exactly as he said when the same blonde head that started this mornings argument walked by us.

I narrowed my eyes at his back before stepping around Louis. “I’ll get to that just as soon as I deal with this first.”

I didn’t wait for Louis to ask what I was doing or stop me. I caught up to Shane just as he was pushing the button for the lift.

Luckily for me we were out of view of the fans waiting out front.

As I approached he turned to face me, the same smirk plastered across his face.

“How’d you’re talk with the girlfriend go?” He asked.

I didn’t stop until I was in his face, our chest practically touching. “I’m going to tell you this only once Shane, stay away from Dawn.

“I’ll take that as she didn’t take your accusations too well then.” He maintained his smirk. “You know for someone who spends an awful lot of time chatting up a girl who isn’t his girlfriend you sure are hypocritical when she simply partakes in a friendly conversation with another guy.”

I was losing my temper, I could feel it. Shane had no idea how close I was to losing it.

At that moment I would have liked nothing more then to wipe that smug look off his face but Louis decided that it was time to intervene.

“Harry, calm down.” I heard my friend speak from behind me as he pulled me a bit away from Shane who just kept smiling at me.

Louis quickly placed himself in front of me. “Do you like your job Shane?”

Finally his obnoxious smirk faltered.

“Would you like to keep it?” Louis continued. “Because from where I’m standing two of the three of us aren’t going anywhere regardless of what happens and you don’t happen to be one of them so I would watch it.”

I stood still as I watched Louis get closer to Shane. “Also, stop fucking with my friends. You may think it’s funny to mess with Harry but you don’t want to mess with me.” As he finished he sent Shane a sarcastic smile and clapped him on the shoulder a bit rougher then necessary before Lou turned to me and nudged me back. “Let’s go Haz.”

I allowed Louis to lead me away, but I didn’t miss the look of anger that passed over Shane’s face. It sent a strange chill up my spine, but it also pleased me that he was cracking.

“Thanks you.” I managed to say as we walked away.

Louis grinned at me. “No problem Harry. I defend the people I care about, you should know that by now.”

I did know that. That was one thing Louis could be counted on, he was always the protector and fiercely loyal. Sometimes he got a bad reputation for it but the ones who mattered understood and loved him for it.

“So how are we going to fix this Dawn situation because I feel like you have a lot of groveling to do.”

I laughed at his words. He was right. I did have a lot to apologize for.

Mostly I just hoped that by the end of this Dawn and I would be talking the way we were before everything got crazy.

“I think I have an idea.”

Please update :( you're killing me
First: the reason this isn't as popular as the nanny SO FAR, is because this one only has less then 20chapters, whereas the nanny has I'm pretty sure over 40. See the difference? And second: that girl better tell Harry about everything soon, CAUS ethics is killing me!!! Update again soon xxx
