The Mess We're In
Shoes
I was in the middle of a peaceful dream with bunnies and ice cream aplenty... and then the damn sun started to shine in my eyes making the bunnies combust into blazing balls of fluff and the ice cream melt into goopy puddles.
I opened one eye and groaned, slinging my arm over my face.
It figured the one little opening in Harry’s curtains would be aligned perfectly with my face. The whole room was dim except for the little sliver of light directly over my eyes.
Deciding that if I went so far as to stand up and shut it I wasn’t going to go back to sleep anyway and I wasn‘t going to be able to sleep with it as it was, I slowly slid out of Harry’s arms and sat up. Immediately missing the warmth and comfort of being snuggled up to him.
I looked at the clock and sighed. I should probably be up by now anyway. There was a lot I had to do before the tour started and Harry had been keeping me hostage for the last few nights, his last few nights of freedom before his schedule began to fill up.
As it was I had a list of things that had been piling up that I needed to do.
I looked back one last time to the sleeping boy beside me before leaning down to place a feather light kiss to his cheek. I didn’t want to wake him after all.
Grabbing my clothes from the night before, went to his ensuite and change out of his boxers and tshirt and get ready for the day.
When I was done I tip toed out of the room, closing the bedroom door as quietly as possible.
“Ah, the walk of shame.” I heard a rather annoying voice say from the sofa as I entered the living room looking for my shoes.
“Shut up Lou.” I bent over to look under the table near the entrance when I didn’t see my Nikes by the door where I had left them last night.
“I didn’t hear any odd noises last night.” Louis continued to speak through a mouthful of cereal as he watched me get down on my knees to look under various pieces of furniture.
“Were you hoping to? Perv.” I said as I stuck my head under a side table.
“Will you just shag him already? Harry has been walking around like a sex starved hormonal boy,” He dropped his spoon into his bowl before looking at me in concentration. “Have you ever seen the film 40 Days and 40 Nights, with the one guy who swears to not have sex for 40 days and 40 nights?”
I nodded.
“He’s like that. Everything he sees has been sexualized to him. I swear he was looking at my bum funny the other day.”
“And all the fandom would rejoice at that bit of information.” I sat up on my heels and sighed before looking over at Louis. “Have you seen my shoes?”
Louis looked unamused. “Did you hear anything I said?”
I shook my head and waved my hands dismissively at him. “I try to tune most of what you say out.”
Louis’ lips pursed as he shook his head at me before answering. “Harry hid your shoes.”
I furrowed my brow. “Why would he do that?”
“So you wouldn’t escape.” He answered, returning his attention to his now slightly soggy cereal.
“That’s ridiculous.”
Louis looked up at me with one eyebrow raised, pointing his spoon in the direction of the door. “You’re not going to run out of here without your shoes now are you?”
I sat there for a moment before nodding.
“He’s a damn evil mastermind.” I looked Louis over before holding my hand out to him. “Give me your shoes.”
Louis looked appalled as he looked down at his famous Toms clad feet. “My shoes? You’re little pixie feet wouldn’t fit. No.”
I stood up, narrowed my eyes at him and scowled, still holding my hands out to him. “Tomlinson give me your shoes NOW.”
“No Grey.” He mimicked my tone and narrowed his own eyes at me.
“Yes, Louis.”
“No.”
I advanced on him, grabbing his foot and attempting to yank the shoe off. Louis hastily placed his bowl on the floor before attempting to stop my progress on reliving him of his Toms.
We kept at it, hands and feet flailing around as we mumbled curses and grunted at each other.
We probably would have kept wrestling forever, both of us being quite stubborn, if it hadn’t been for the loud throat clearing behind us.
We both froze, one of my hands gripping Louis’ foot while my other was pulling on his hair with Louis’ right hand pushing on my face while his left was trying to smack away my hand on his foot.
Harry looked at us for a few moments with furrowed brows before closing his eyes and shaking his head.
“I’m not too sure I want to know what is going on.”
Louis was the first to move, pulling away and sitting back in his seat while pointing an accusing finger in my face. “Dawn was escaping and then she attacked me like a flying monkey for my shoes.”
My eyes widened, I slowly turned my face to glare at the little weasel before mouthing ‘I hate you’ at him.
He just smirked at me.
“You were leaving?” Harry’s hurt voice sounded behind me.
I kept my glare focused on Louis as I stood, my facial expression softening when my eyes landed on Harry, hair messy but still sexy from just waking up, eyes clearly not ready to be awake yet, and boxers slung dangerously low on his hips.
“Baby I’ve got things I need to do today. I keep putting them off but I have to get them done before next week, and you two have rehearsal today anyway.” I tried to reason.
“Can’t Jena do it?” Harry asked sounding very much like a pouty child.
“Jena is already doing a lot. I have to do the ordering and get everything settled here before we are off again. Besides Wylie is probably missing us both, I know Liam and Dani are taking good care of him but he gets sad when we aren’t around. We already have to leave him for a long time, I just want to make sure he doesn’t need to see a doggie therapist because he develops separation anxiety.” I rambled on. By the end of it I was in Harry’s arms and he was chuckling at me.
“Doggie therapist?” He questioned with a smirk and a raised eyebrow.
I narrowed my eyes. “It’s a thing.” I defended.
“Sure it is.” He laughed and kissed my lips.
“So do you think you could give me my shoes back now?” I asked as soon as I pulled away.
Harry gave me his best innocent look. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
I smacked his chest. “I swear to you Styles, if you don’t give me my shoes back, so help me, I will make your life miserable.”
Harry, again, laughed at me as he pulled away and turned back towards his room as I followed.
“Doubt it.” He said as he opened one of his dresser drawers and pulled my blue and purple Nikes out from under some of his folded shirts.
I mock glared at him as I snatched them from him and dropped onto the bed to slip my feet into them.
When I finished tying the laces I looked up to find Harry standing directly in front of me, watching me with his head tilted down.
I leaned back onto my elbows and smirked.
He quickly leaned over me with his arms supporting him on either side of my body, his lips temptingly close to mine.
“Are you sure you have to go?”
To be honest, right in that moment I couldn’t think of one thing worth me leaving for, but I had to be a responsible adult right now, and I had a puppy waiting for me.
“I am, I don’t really want to but I have to.” I answered honestly, reaching my hand up to flick his curls out of his eyes.
Harry’s own green eyes drifted down to my lips before his covered them. I sighed in contentment, letting my eyes drift shut as I kissed him back.
Slowly, he pulled away, placing quick little kisses to me lips as he did. “Well you better go before I think better of this and tie you up.”
“Kinky.” I wiggled my eyebrows at him. “Is that supposed to make me want to go because now I’m considering staying?”
He laughed at me while reaching a hand out to pull me off the bed.
He walked me to the door, watching as I grabbed one of the pillows off the sofa and chucked it at Louis’ head as I walked by.
I waved sweetly at the other boy when he turned to glare at me before slipping back into Harry’s arms and giving him a quick peck on the lips.
“I’ll try to swing by the rehearsal later today.”
“Ok.”
With one last kiss, and added gagging noises from Louis which had him receive two middle fingers from us, I was on my way.
I loved mornings like these. Not the leaving Harry part but the waking up with him. It set the tone for my whole day.
The last few months had been, arguable, the best months of my life.
After all the secrecy and drama of the last tour I was looking forward to this tour. Now with Harry and I in an actual relationship it was bound to be better.
I was lucky the fans, for the most part, seemed to really take us as a couple well.
Hawn was our couple name.
The first time I saw that on twitter it made me giggle uncontrollably. I’m pretty sure Niall still thinks I’m a lunatic.
There was a little bit of backlash but I was trying my best to not read any of it because in the end none of those people mattered, it was me and Harry and that was all that was important in this relationship.
In the end we were all that mattered in this relationship and I would be damned if I let any outside forces break us after all we had been through to get here.
Even with all that I guess I was still the lucky girl after all.
I opened one eye and groaned, slinging my arm over my face.
It figured the one little opening in Harry’s curtains would be aligned perfectly with my face. The whole room was dim except for the little sliver of light directly over my eyes.
