Where's my Food
Niall’s P.O.V
I woke up around eight in the morning. I noticed I wasn’t in my bed. I was still at the hospital, and Cassidy was asleep on my chest. I smiled down at her.
“Morning.” Liam said.
“Oh…hey Li.” I was nervous. I didn’t want him to think I was going to hit on his sister.
“Thank you for calming her down last night.” He smiled at me.
“Not a problem.” I smiled back. I felt her stir in my arms.
“Morning.” She muttered.
“Morning love.” I smiled down at her.
“Good morning, sis.” Liam smiled. Cassidy sat up slowly, taking in her surroundings.
“My head hurts.” She buried her head in her palms. I looked at Liam. As if on cue, Nurse Kat waltzed in.
“Ah you’re awake!” She smiled.
“My head hurts.” She muttered, still keeping her head in her hands.
“That’s to be expected. You haven’t eaten. I’ll bring in some food for you in a few. Police officers will be here to take your statement soon, then you’ll be free to go.” She smiled and walked out.
“I want food.” I said.
“Want me to go on a McDonalds run?” Liam asked. I nodded.
“McDonalds?” Cassidy’s head popped up.
“Yeah, want some?” Liam laughed.
“Please!” She begged. Liam chuckled and nodded. After writing down what we all wanted, he left.
“Thank you Niall…for finding me…for comforting me…” She looked out the window.
“My pleasure.” I rubbed her shoulder.
“Did Liam tell you what happened that night?” She asked.
“No.” I shook my head.
“Oh.” She continued to look out the window.
“Liam had been acting weird on his birthday. He told us he had a twin sister. He said he lost you. Den he showed us his arms. Dey are littered with scars.” I looked down.
“He’s been cutting?” She looked at me.
“We took his tings before da campin trip.” I looked at her.
“Good.” She sighed. I rubbed her back.
“Sorreh fer laying dat on ya.” I sighed.
“No, don’t apologize. He did that in the past. I just need to kick his ass again.” She smirked. We both sat there for what felt like hours waiting for the nurse to bring in some food. Finally she walked in with a plate. It had pancakes, apple slices and sausage. The nurse gave her some apple juice and water to drink.
“Eat as much as you can.” The nurse smiled and left. I never saw a girl eat so quickly. Then again, she was being held hostage against her will not even 48 hours ago.
“I return with real food!” Liam came in. I reached for the bag. I didn’t want to take any of Cassidy’s food, even though she offered me some, because she needed to eat.
“FOOD!” I grabbed my stuff and dug in.
Cassidy’s P.O.V
Liam was cutting…again…because I went missing? Ugh.
“Li, we gotta talk again.” I stated once he had finished eating.
“What’s up, Cas?” He asked, obviously concerned. Just as I was about to bring up the cutting, two police officers came in.
“Cassidy Payne?” One officer asked, I nodded.
“Can we ask that you two lads step outside for a second?” Both boys nodded and left.
“Can you tell us what happened five years ago?” The second officer asked.
“Well see…” I started
“Liam! I bet I can beat you in a race!” I laughed as we walked through the woods. Our mum told us to be careful. But we were both fifteen, we thought we were invincible.
“Oh you’re so on!” He laughed. With that we took off. It was a little past sunset, so the woods had taken on an eerie glow. I was losing by a hair when I tripped.
“Li!” I called out. I had sprained my ankle.
“Cass! You okay?!” He jogged back to me. I was crying. He tried picking me up, but he was too weak.
“Go get mum!” I cried. He nodded and ran off. I sat there, sniffling and waiting. I heard rustling and the sound of people walking towards me. I assumed it was my mum and Liam, but I was wrong. A white cloth covered my face. I tried to scream but sleep took over.
The police wrote down everything.
“Do you remember anything about the way he looked?” The first officer asked.
“Shut up whore!” He slapped me across the face. I sat at the bottom of the hole he dug for me. I wanted to die. I ended up calling him Neil. I called him that because that’s what the uniform said at least. He wore a mask all the time whenever he’d…rape me. Today he pulled me out of the hole. As soon as I was on sturdy ground, I pushed him into the hole. I heard a sickening pop and then silence. I looked down to see he fell head first. That’s when I ran.
“So he’s dead?” The officer asked.
“I assume so.” I nodded. They both finished writing everything down.
“You won’t be in trouble for killing him. It is considered self-defense.” Both officers said bye and left. Niall came in followed by Liam. Both looked pissed.
“He raped you?” Liam asked, as calmly as he could.
“Yes.” I nodded.
“Dat bastard.” I heard Niall mutter under his breath.
“He’s dead…” I said. They both looked at me.
“What?” Liam asked.
“When I escaped…I pushed him into the hole he kept me in…I broke his neck…he died instantly. Then I ran…that’s when Niall found me.” I looked at them both.
“I didn’t think you had it in you…” Liam whispered under his breath. I still heard him.
“HEY! I’m not that weak!” I yelled, chucking a pillow at his big head. Niall burst out laughing.
