My Weakness

First Day of School

(Tigerlily’s POV)

“Promise me you’ll call?” Niall asked.

“Pinky.” I said hooking my pinky with his.

He leaned in and kissed my temple.

We shared a hug and I watched him fade into the crowded distance of the airport. He was going to South America (Ecuador), and I wouldn’t seem him outside of a screen for a few months.

I stood there for a minute, secretly hoping he would come back. I turned on a heel and left the airport. I found my way to my car through the maze of a parking lot. I drove out of the dark parking lot and headed home, mentally preparing myself for the week ahead; I was going into my junior year of high school, and I wasn’t really looking forward to it.

The first day was three days away. I already packed my backpack and memorized my schedule that had come in the mail last week. Wow, I really am OCD.

I parked my truck in the driveway and locked it, heading into the small house. I said ‘goodnight’ to my mom and went to my room, almost instantly passing out on the bed after I changed.

I am really not looking forward to school. Dylan will be there. Maybe, just maybe, this will be the year that I don’t have any classes with him.

My phone goes off. I look at my phone to see I got a text from Niall.

From: My Prince<3
Hey love, I just wanted to tell you that I love you and good luck on your first day. Text me when you get home so I can Skype you. Miss you.
Xx Niall

I smile at his cute little texts. I respond.

To: My Prince<3
Love you and miss you too.
Xx Your one and only.

From: My Prince<3
Yes, you are my one and only, and you always will be. I love you.
Xx Niall<3

I look at the text and smile, shortly before falling asleep.

*First Day of School*

First stay of school, god I hope nothing goes wrong.

I enter the building crowded with people and instantly I get surrounded my people, people who I never really talked to. ‘Why are they crowding around me of all people?’ I asked myself.

“What’s it like dating someone famous?” some random girl asked. I’ve seen her around the school once or twice, but I don’t remember her name.

“Do all the other boys like you?” another girl asked.

“Back off her, geez, you guys, give her some space.” Someone called, pushing through the crowd. I recognized the voice, I just couldn’t place who it was. Wait, ‘damn no, it can’t be him. Why does it have to be him getting me out of this crowd and not one of my friends?’

He reached for my wrist to pull me out of the crowd. I snatched my hand away from his hand. “Go away, Dylan, I don’t need your help.”

“It sure looks like you do.” He suggested.

“No, I’m fine, I’ll get used to it because I don’t plan on ending things with Niall anytime soon.” I said referring to the text that he sent me.

“Whatever just let me help you out of there.” He said grabbing hold of my wrist this time.

“Fine, then leave me alone.”

He didn’t say anything; he just pulled me out of the crowd. I was standing uncomfortably close to him. I took a step back, so that we wouldn’t be so close.

“Now that I’ve helped you, I’ll go.”

“Okay, bye.” I said nonchalantly.

He scoffed and walked off in the other direction.

I found my locker and out my things in it. I turn around to see my friends already standing by my locker.

“Dude!” Andrea yelled.

“What?” I yelled in a lower volume back at her.

“Is it true?” I nodded. “How the hell?!”

“He was in town, Calista and I were at the derby and we went to Jim’s Thriftway and we bumped into each other, and you know, well, fell in love. Perfect huh?”

“Wow, I didn’t think it was actually true.” My friend Emile (pronounced Emily, but we just call her Em) said.

“Are you sure she’s not lying?” another one of my friends, Anna, asked.

“This is going to make it even sound more like a lie, Anna, but I would love you guys to meet him, but he just left on Saturday for South America. If you want, I can show you his contact that he put in, or the weird selfies he took from my phone.” I suggested.

“Sure, I guess.”

I showed them his contact.

My Prince<3
555-0125 (A/N- random number, I don’t actually know his number, nor do I have it)

Then it has a really cute picture of him—possibly shirtless—that I took when he fell asleep on the couch one time.

“Ok, we believe you, and you didn’t even need to show us the weird selfies that he took.”

“Haha, but do you want to see tem? Because they’re pretty priceless.” I said grinning at the memory of some of them.

“Sure I guess.” Andi (Andrea) shrugged.

I showed them some of them and the just about laughed their asses off.

The bell rung, signaling us to get to class. I grabbed a notebook out of my locker and headed to my first class; Junior High teacher asst. for Social Studies.

-

I walked into my fourth period class; Pre-Calculus. Thank god, after this I can go home.

Mr. Keith was giving assigned seats as students entered the room before the bell rang to begin the class.

“Okay, Tigerlily, you’re right over there.” He pointed to a seat in the second row.

I sat down in the seat and set my stuff down on the desk, getting my phone out to see if I had gotten any notifications. Nope. I slid my phone into my purse, making sure to check that the ringer was off, just in case I got a text during class or anything. I propped my elbows up on the desk

I was sitting there, not really focused on anything, when I heard something that almost made me chock on my own spit;

“Dylan, you sit over there next to Tigerlily.”

Dammit Mr. Keith, why? Why him? Why now? Ugh. I sighed as he sat down next to me. This was going to be a long eighty-eight minutes. I put my face in my hands, resting my forehead on my palms.

“Fans buggin’ the shit outta you?”

“No, why would you ask?” I ask raising my head out of my hands, looking towards him.

“Because you look like you’ve had a long, tiring day. You look kind of irritated.”

“Not yet, but it will be when I get out of this place.”

“Why do you say that?” he asked baffled.

“Look at who I’m seated next to, you twat.” I said with a bit of a harsh tone.

“Twat? And ouch.” He looked rather hurt at my comment.

“Yes, I called you a twat, get used to it, and boo hoo, get over it. I don’t like you.” I said a bit harsher. Maybe I shouldn’t be such a bitch to him.

“Ser”— he was cut of by the bell, starting the class. I laughed a bit.

Twenty minutes into the class, Dylan passes me a note.

Did you get my text the other day, you didn’t respond.

I folded the note back up and dropped it into my bag, ignoring it.

-

The bell rang signaling the end of school. The entire student body crowds the halls. I make my way into the crowded hall to my locker. Throwing the books into my locker that I don’t need, which happen to be all but one. Who the hell gives homework on the first day of school?

My locker slams shut and I walk home. It’s convenient that I only live five minutes—walking—away from the school, so I don’t need to waste my gas in my truck that costs fifty bucks to fill.

I close the front door and go into my room. I toss my bag on my bed and pull out my phone to text Niall.

To: My Prince<3
Hey, I’m home, if you want to skype me, and don’t worry about homework, I’ll have time to do it.
Xx Your princess

I open up my laptop and turn it on, instantly seeing a skype request from Niall.

I click accept and soon enough my adorable—and tired—looking boyfriend appears on the screen.

“Hey princess, how was your day? You look tense.” He yawns

“It was okay, how’s Ecuador? What time is it there, compared to Oregon?”

“It’s good, we have our first concert tonight, and we had our second interview yesterday. It’s 6:30 a.m., tomorrow. Do you want to talk about it; I know it will help you relax a bit more.”

I shrugged.

“C’mon babe, what happened?”

“Fine… It started out with me immediately getting mobbed when I got to school, and then my best friends just about fangirled when I proved to them that I was actually dating you. My classes went fine up until Pre-Calc.”

“What happened?”

“Dylan.”

“What did he do?” he asked worriedly.

“Well Mr. Keith assigned his seat next to me, and then he passed me a note, which I meant to throw away, but I just spaced it.”

“What did the note say?”

“It just asked if I got the text that he had sent me on our anniversary last week.”

“I’m sorry babe; if you want I can kick his ass.”

“Yeah, whatever.” I laugh.

He might have actually been serious, but I just took it as a joke.

-

“Tigerlily, dinner!” my mom hollered from the kitchen.

“Sorry, babe, I have to go. My mom’s calling me for dinner.”

“Okay, I should probably go anyways, but I think the boys want to tell you something.” He said as he picked his laptop off of the table and brought it over to the boys who were messing around in the living room. Niall cleared his throat. The boys froze. “Guys, say ‘hi’.”

“Hi Tigerlily!” they chorused.

“Hey, guys, well, it was nice seeing you guys but I have to go.”

Niall turned the laptop towards him and smiled at me. “Love you, princess.”

“Love you too, Ni.”
