"We'll be back!" Mom yelled as she walked out the door. My dad smiled and pulled her back in. "I love you." They said together. Mia smiled. "Bye Momma! Bye Dadda!" She squealed. I put my arm around her shoulder. "I love you too." I said. Mia squirmed out of my arms and my parents gave us one last smile. And a kiss on the head. They closed the door. Mia was squealing from the kitchen.
"Can we have ice-cream?" She yelled. "Yes, Mia." I sighed, but she squealed again in happiness. "Let's eat a whole tub of ice-cream!" She giggled, hopping around the kitchen. "A whole tub?!" I said, laughing in amusement. Mia looked at me and smiled sweetly.
I rolled my eyes. "Not a whole tub of ice-cream." I said. Her smile turned into a frown. "Sorry, Munchkin." I said and she laughed again. I got us each two scoops of ice-cream and let Mia climb onto my lap. I hugged her and put on Shrek, her favorite movie.
Thirty minutes later, we heard knocks at the door. I frowned. Mom and Dad weren't supposed to be back this early. I pulled out my iTouch and texted them.
Me: Hey mom. U guys home?
There was no reply. Weird. I hugged Mia against me as I made my way towards the door. I peeked through the keyhole and saw two people with their backs turned to us. They looked enough like Mom and Dad, so I opened the door.
Two words.
BIG.
MISTAKE.
