Falling for Harry Styles

Chapter 4

It was a couple days after the market. Chad had called and we had decided he would me up at eight. I was standing in front of the mirror holding up a short strapless blue dress that was a bit revealing and a simple black spaghetti straps dress and a blue belt with a blinged-out bow on it that cut just above my knees. “Harry, a little help?” I asked tilting my head to look at him in the mirror.
“I don’t know Natalie,” he said cuddling a pillow on my bed.
“Come on Harry! I need a guy’s opinion,” I whined.
“You really want a guy’s opinion? Try them on.” I gave him an incredulous look. “That’s the only way I could tell you,” he shrugged and smiled.
“Okay fine,” I said heading towards the bathroom. I put the black one on and sauntered back into my bedroom. “So?”
He looked at me, scrunched his face and shook his head. “Try the other one on.”
I rolled my eyes and went to try the blue one on. When I walked back into the room, I thought I saw his face light up. “That one, definitely, you look great!” he exclaimed, a grin from ear to ear splitting his features.
“Great! I hope Chad likes it.”
"He'd be stupid not to."

The doorbell rang. Chad didn’t tell me exactly what we were doing, so I didn’t quite know if I was dressed right. I opened the door and his eyes widened, “Wow! You look… Fantastic!”
“Really? I’m not overdressed?” I asked a bit timidly.
“No, just right actually,” he chuckled.
“So what are we doing anyway?”
“You’ll soon find out,” he smiled and held out his hand. I took it and he led me to the car. We got in, drove for a while before we arrived at a restaurant, and were led to a table.
“Wow, this is amazing!” I exclaimed with a smile as I looked around the wide room. There was a big expanse of empty floor with couples dancing together in front of a stage filled with musicians playing instruments in a jazz style. I looked up to see heavy looking crystal chandeliers hanging above each of the tables.
“I thought you’d like it,” he smiled.
“So I like to get to know the little, often viewed as insignificant, things about people,” I said smiling.
“Okay then, what would you like to know? Rattle off some questions, I’m an open book,” he smiled wide gesturing with his hands.
“Alright then, get ready for this,” I smirked and took a deep breath, “When is your birthday? What is your favorite color? What is your favorite number? Where were you born? Do you have any siblings? What is your middle name? What is your favorite season?” I took another deep breath.
“Wow,” he laughed, “You weren’t kidding. Okay um…. June 19; orange; eight; London; no; Tyler; winter. Now your turn, same questions.”
“May 15, blue, eleven, Rye East Sussex, yes a sister Jennifer, Anne and spring.” I smiled and listened for a moment to the smooth jazz music playing in the background. I was always fond of the way the instruments sounded in this style of music. It was soothing and just beautiful. I was lost for a moment as I enjoyed it.
He caught my expression and asked, “Would you like to dance?”
“Um… Sure,” I nodded unsure of myself. I was never a good dancer, not having a good sense of rhythm. I stood and he took my hand and led me to the dance floor. I was hesitant at first but eventually got into it and even found a sort of rhythm. We swayed to the music and I leaned my head on his shoulder, lost in the moment that was so perfect. I almost didn’t realize the music stopped.
“That was amazing,” he sighed still holding me.
“Yea it was,” I said releasing him. We walked back to the table with smiles on our faces. He held my chair out and I briefly thought of Harry’s dimpled smile at the gentlemanly act.
We talked and laughed and enjoyed each other’s company for a while longer. When he drove me home he walked me to the door. “I had a great time tonight, Natalie. I hope we can do this again.”
“Yea, me too,” I smiled as I fished in my purse for my keys. I unlocked the door and turned back to him, “Thank you for tonight Chad, it was perfect.” I kissed him on the cheek.
He smiled and said, “Yes it was. Good night.”
“Good night.” I went inside and hurried up to my room. I couldn’t shake the big happy grin on my face as I fell asleep.
