Chapter 1
Let’s Start At Hello.
*Graces POV*
It was a little after four in the afternoon and my friend Lillian and I were at the real estate agency signing the last of the ownership papers. Then it was done.
“Here you go girls! This is the house key” pointing to the orange plated one, “And this is the mail key!” handing Lillian the blue plated one. “Good luck with your new place!” she said happily and with that, we were off.
“Lillian this is it! It is finally happening!” I yelled, as we left the tall building heading to her car.
“I know! I don’t believe I have ever been so excited in my life Gracie. This is so legit!” she beamed.
This finalisation seemed to top off the perfect day. I don’t think life could get any sweeter.
**hour later**
“OH MY GOODNESS-- it’s perfect! Honestly, It is so beautiful!” exclaimed Lillian, my new flatmate.
Personally I couldn’t have said it better myself. Our new flat-- well, house, was absolutely perfect. Disregarding the countless boxes filled to the rim with all of our junk; it was a sight to see. When you first walk in the house, there is a large staircase just off to your left, and straight ahead you can see the new marbled counter tops of the kitchen to which the living space connected, and to the the right is an office space area that leads to the other part of the living room.
“Right?! I love it too! And just to think it is all ours!” I agreed.
“Oh my gosh Grace, we are going to have so much fun living here.... having parties, getting crazy... having boys over..?”
“Lillian! That’s not why we bought this place remember? We bought it as a ‘responsible-out-of-college gift’”... or so my mum said anyway.
You see, my friend Lillian and I have just graduated Uni, and we are in the process of looking for full time jobs in the fashion industry. Both of our parents got together and asked if we wanted to live together for the time being, and if we said yes then they would cover everything. If we said no, then we were on our own. So, obviously we said yes! I mean, what would you say? No? Not even. Anyway, Lillian and I have known each other since we were little girls. Growing up we both fell in love with fashion and photography. Luckily, we both got into the same university and majored in the same studies- fashion design/marketing and photo-digital media. Living with this girl is going to be a blast.
“Hey Gracie?” said a distant sounding Lillian.
“Yeah?” I said.
“Can you come in here for a moment?”
Up until now I was in such deep thought about our pasts that I hadn’t even realised Lil had left the foyer to explore the rest of the house.
“Yeah! Where are you though?” I asked astounded by the size of this flat.
“Upstairs, the last door on your left!” She shouted from above.
As I ascended the staircase, I looked behind me and for the first time I realised how big the house actually was. It honestly didn’t even look like only an apartment. It looked like a small sized house. Turning back around, I found myself faced with a long corridor with multiple doors on each side. Finally, making my way to the end of the hallway I opened the last door on the left and found my self standing in the entrance of the biggest room I have ever seen. In the middle, stood Lillian.
“Look how big it is!” She practically yelled in my face.
“It is big!” I shouted back in a mocking tone making her give me ‘the eye’.
It was her signature thing.
“That’s what she said!”
“Ewe-- very funny Lillian!” Mocking her once again.
She could be so immature sometimes, and she knew it too. But, of course, she wouldn’t be my Lil if she wasn’t.
“What do you think we could use this room for?” I asked quickly after.
“Well,” She said, “By the looks of it there is another one right across the hall, so, we could both have one..?”
“Totally! You know this whole thing has just sunk in. I knew it was all real, but now, it seems as though it has just sort of slapped me in the face.”
It was quiet for a few moments before Lillian spoke up.
“Hey Gracie? I was thinking...?”
“Yes, Lil..?” I said maybe getting an idea of where this was going.
“Well I was actually wondering if tonight you would want to go out? Just for old time sake?” She smiled sweetly, probably in reaction to the look on my face. “You know, before we start looking for jobs and all that. I want to have fun at least one more time...... before my life ends.” she added sarcastically.
I stifled a small laugh.
She knew how I felt about going out. After Jack, my ex, I stopped having fun. Some things happened between him and I that I don’t think I will ever be able to let go. That’s a story for another time though. Besides, I think it’s time to live again. So I said..
“Sure. Why not?! But on one condition. Only a few drinks, I don’t want anyone coming back here that we would regret in the morning!”
“YAY!.... and of course not!” Lillian screamed in excitement. “I honestly thought you were going to say no, Gracie, but thank you for saying yes... I kind of think I need this a little. Just to be free for the night.”
“Welcome Lil. I think it’s time to get my life back. I want to have fun again.” I said with a smile. I never thought I would say that and mean it and for the first time in a long time, it feels okay to say it. It feels true.
“Well then that’s settled. Let’s go get ready!”
This was going to be interesting. I am glad though that she decided to ask.
**four hours later**
“Gracie! You look HOT!” she said with a jaw dropping look.
Of course this made me blush like a mad man. It has been a while since she has seen me so dolled up. I actually kind of missed it. I feel invincible.
I was wearing a black bodycon dress with emerald sequins, and emerald pumps to compliment my chestnut hair and honey skin. Lillian, on the other hand, was wearing a candy-apple red cocktail dress with white pumps. Lillian’s hair is such a sweet strawberry blonde, almost any colour looks fantastic on her glowing fare skin; AND she had the body. She was perfection in my eyes.
As soon as we had each given the mirror a last glance it was about eight and we decided we were almost ready to hit the town when Lillian stopped me half way to the door; she looked like she had seen a ghost-
“ I almost forgot the new playlist I made!” she yelled as if it were a ridiculous mishap that should have never occurred. She took off her heels and sprinted up the stairs to grab her iPod.
I laughed hysterically watching her run back; could she be serious? Of course she was, it was Lillian. As she returned and asked if she was set for sure.
“Yes” she stated with confidence and a smile.
“Well let’s get out of here!” I said just as happy as she.
With that we strut out to my Kia Soul, jumped in and drove off into the night.
**at the club**
*Harry’s POV*
“Harry!.... Harry mate!” Louis yelled over the loud music of the club.
I must have been in a quite a daze, because Louis looked at me with worry.
“Yeah?” I said leaning over “What’s up?”
“Are you alright, mate? You look a bit bored! This is your thing Harry! Enjoy it!” He practically screamed over the thumping bass.
The truth is, I wasn’t okay. I am getting tired of all of these clubs. I suppose it is a bit easier for Lou being in a relationship; he doesn’t have to worry about looking for a girl. He has got everything he needs with El. To lay it out flat, I want the same thing. Now, I definitely don’t think the club is the right pace to find the girl for me.
As I looked back over to Lou, he was in the middle of a heated session with El when at once they got up to dance. Or should I say... grind? Grind is the right word for sure. Great by myself again... I think I will just go home, yeah. Just as I was stood up to leave my name was called again.
“Oi! Harry!” Yelled a very intoxicated Niall pointing in what seemed a miscellaneous direction “Look over there!”
As I followed his gaze, I found that my gaze had fallen on a very beautiful young girl. In the light her hair played a mysterious shade of violet and other various shades of blues and greens. She is beautiful. Not to mention her body. The way the dress hit her every perfect curve put pangs in my gut like I have just been hit. She is fit. Maybe I don’t want to leave after all.
Finally, I looked back over to Niall, who, like me, was staring at this mysterious girl.
“Mate, go an’ talk to her!” said Niall breaking the silence.
“Errhh, I don’t know mate, I was actually fixing to go ho-”
“Harry!,” Niall cut me off “Go talk to her before I do. I saw you sitting there, and I know why. Give it shot, mate.”
For some reason I actually found myself considering this. Finally, I found my feet dragging me through the hot, sweaty crowd. Suddenly, stopping before the girl I was about to talk to, I reached out to touch her when she jolted around to someone calling her name.
“Grace! .... Hey Grace!” Said and unknown male voice.
By the looks of it, she knew who was calling her, but wished he wasn’t. She looked like she was going to be sick, and all of a sudden I felt the need to help her. To take care of her. So at once I grabbed her hand, and we disappeared into the crowd under the sound of the bass, weaving in between the hot bodies whom would cover our tracks.
