A New Family

Lily's POV:

"Hi, my names Lily, what's yours?" I asked to a cute brown haired boy.

"I'm Nick, I think a lot of your friends are in my cabin," I nodded.

"Where are they?"

"Pigging out at the dinning hall." I laughed.

"Guess, I'll have to join them, are you coming?" Nick bit his lip and looked nervously away.

"Uh, I think I have to wait for my counselor."

"Okay, I'll save you a seat!" I smiled at my new friend and ran down the hill to the dinning hall. He seemed nice, I thought as I made my way to the noisiest table. Katherine patted the seat next to her and I accepted, struggling to balance my omelet, hash browns, and bacon.

"Everyone move down because I promised someone else a seat!" I yelled at the boys at the end of the table. They all groaned.

"I thought we discussed this last year, two girls are enough at this table!" Shouted Teddy.

"You know, unless their hot." Said Oliver.

"You pervert!" exclaimed Katherine.

"It's not even a girl, I invited Nick from your cabin to join us, he seems nice."

"Lily we're at a freaking church camp, of course everyone's nice!" Everyone burst into laughter.

"But Nick seems cool." Said Dylan.

"I swear, he's good at every sport!" Shouted Sean. I turned to Katherine.

"Remind me again why we sit in a table with ten boys?" I asked.

"Because they all go to our church and we've known them since we were in diapers?"

Oh yeah," I laughed.Then I noticed Nick, struggling to carry his breakfast and hold onto a bottle of orange juice. Pulling my legs out of the bench, I made my way over to Nick, helping him carry his food.

"Thanks." He mumbled.

"No problem." I laid his food next to mine and patted the seat next to me. Nick made his way over to the edge of the table and managed to squeeze in next to me.

"Hey Nick!" Shouted all the guys.

"Hey!" He smiled in relief, finally in his comfort zone. Once everyone had finished eating (the guys had fifths) I decided to clean the table while everyone headed back to their cabins until our classes.

I noticed Nick had stayed back to help me.

"Thanks" I said while he scrubbed a ketchup stain (yes, the guys had ketchup on their eggs).

"I figured you were that type of girl." I threw the washcloth back into the bin, and cheered a little.

"What type?" I asked curiously.

"The type that helps out with stuff, like cleaning the table, opening doors, throwing everyone's trash away."

"Well I guess, someone's gotta clean up after those monsters, and if they tried cleaning they would only make it worse." I shrugged, not sure what the deal was.

"What about Katherine?"

"She hates getting dirty," I laughed, remembering when she fell into some mud, she almost cried. We made our way out of the dining room and started heading up the hill to our cabins. I stopped walking at the path that splits the girls cabins from the guys.

"So, I'll see you at swimming?" I asked politely.

"LILY! HELP US, THERE'S A SPIDER IN THE CABIN!" Screamed Katherine from inside the cabin.

"ITS GETTING CLOSER!" screeched Annie, a girl in our cabin. They all screamed.

"I have to go." I sprinted away from Nick, and concentrated on killing the spider and bringing its body outside. Once I had gotten all the girls out of the corner and into our bunks, things had gotten back to normal.

"Was that Nick?" asked a breathless Katherine.

"Oh, yeah." I instantly felt bad for leaving him at the path.

"Five bucks says he likes her!"

"I'll take that!" Shouted Lauren.

"Guys, I only just met him, he doesn't like me."

"Yet." Katherine suggested, wiggling her eyebrows.

"Shut up." I said, turning red. Did I like Nick? I asked myself. He seems nice, I thought. I guess, maybe, if I see him again. I hope I do, he really was a sweet guy.


I woke up suddenly from my dream of Camp. Sitting up a bit, I sighed in relief when I didn't see anything gruesome on my body; everything had faded away. I guess I had puked up all that pollen last night.

Laying back down, I closed my eyes, the dream, was so realistic, I wish I could just enter it and stay there forever. When Nick still liked me, when I was back in Minnesota, when life was at ease, when I had a family... I felt tears glide down my cheeks and I sniffed. Wait, where's Eleanor? I was about to climb out of bed when I noticed her long body on the ground. I groaned, why Eleanor?

I made her get on her feet (with her eyes still closed) and walked her downstairs to her bedroom, tucking her into the covers. Closing the door, I ran back upstairs and suddenly fell, clutching my stomach.

Sharp pains erupted in my stomach, probably because I haven't eaten anything for a week. Crawling into my bedroom, I changed into some long Lulu lemon leggings, pulled on thick gray socks, laced up some boots, and pulled on a sweater. Going into the bathroom, I cringed at the sight of my hair in the mirror.

I brushed it until it looked normal and noticed that it fell all the way to my waist. I really need a haircut. I made a break for the kitchen, and first ate some cheese cake (although Eleanor's healthy, I am not), then some ice cream, then I took an entire box of cheese it's to snack on. Stretching out my stiff legs a little bit, I knew I needed a walk. Grabbing my newly charged iPhone (thanks to Eleanor), I put on my Red Beats headphones (also thanks to Eleanor), took a key and walked out the front.

Glancing down own at my phone I noticed that I had many messages from an unknown number. Unlocking my phone, I noticed they all ended with the same name:

Luke.
