"No, stay for a while." he said. I sat back down. There was nothing really to say between us. We had never really been alone together except for the time when we first met and one or two other times. I had a feeling that this was going to be uncomfortable, but I stayed.

I decided to start out with something simple, even though my heart was racing in my chest like never before. "You look really pretty tonight you know."

She smiled at me, displaying her perfect teeth and the corners of her eyes crinkled slightly. Beautiful. "Thank you." she said, tentatively. "You know I almost cried when you thanked me in front of all those people." she replied. She rested her elbow on the arm of the couch and leaned her forehead against her hand.

"You know it was true." I told her. She smiled again, this time wider, revealing her dimples. Beautiful. I took me some time to realize that I was staring at her, dazed. Without thinking I moved in for the kiss.
