Frenemies for Hearts
Chapter Twenty Seven - Finally
-Daisy-
He gathered me into a tight hug, chin resting on the top of my head, my legs wrapped around the back of his. There was another long silence, but this one was comfortable somehow.
-Zayn-
There was something rising in my chest. A tickling, nagging feeling that I couldn't shake as I held her. I was becoming more and more sure that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her, see her every day.
I loved this girl, and I would never let her go, and never let her out of my sight. No matter how much she hated it, I would always be with her. And when she was sad, I would do anything to make her happy. And if someone tried to take her away, I would only come looking for her, and take her back.
I started smiling, and I couldn't stop. This smile was the giddy sort of shaky smile, the embarrassing kind that feels like your mouth muscles are quivering.
-Daisy-
I felt his warm, rough hands on my face, one on either cheek as he lifted my eyes to look into his. He was smiling. A weird smile, full of realization and giddiness, but it was sweet.
He took in a small breath, and then blurted out. "I love you." as if telling me a well-known fact.
And now I felt myself smiling too. "I love you." I said back. It came out smaller than I had anticipated.
And now I saw his smile become a real, fully-fledged smile. The kind that crinkled the corners of his eyes and folded the corners of his mouth into dimples, and that made lines between his eyebrows.
-Zayn-
And then I kissed her, and I kissed her, and I kissed her.
I made myself three promises right then: I would always be with her, I would always take care of her, I would always love her.
And then I made myself another promise.
I was going to marry this girl.
