Frenemies for Hearts
Chapter Ten - Turtle Bay
-Louis-
It was devastating to watch Daisy leave, back to Hawaii to surf. Caleb went with her, so she would be safe, I guess. She hugged and kissed all of us before going through security, and we watched her all the way until she went through the door to the gates.
She was going to be gone for 2 weeks. She promised that she would come back, and things would be very boring in the mean time. We would all miss her.

Back to Hawaii. Snapping out of my One Direction day dream, it was time to buckle down on my training. I had gone surfing a lot at the beach near the boy's house, but it just wasn't enough.
Training was hard work: I had to concentrate on my fitness and what I ate, not to mention 6-8 hours of hard-core surfing every day. By the end of my training period, I was exhausted, but ready for the competition.
It was a sunny day at Turtle Bay with beautiful 10 ft tall barrel waves. I wish the boys could be here, but they had several performances to attend to, so I was left here. At least I had Caleb. No, I was glad I had Caleb. Was I? Would I rather have Zayn here instead? Yes. No! Zayns words had been ringing inside my head since the second he had said them. Maybe I wasn't in love, but in lust instead. Maybe I didn't know what love was. Maybe there was someone better for me out there.
The minute I put my blue skin-shirt with my number on it, the nerves stared to kick in. And finally, my heat was called. I was in first place for two out of my three heats. Great start. The best that I could hope for.
For the third heat, I had been in first place the whole time. I was feeling rather cocky with 5 minutes left on the clock. I had the highest scoring wave of the day and had been in first the whole time. I wasn't scared. Until #9 scored higher than me on her wave. Now she held the title of highest wave of the competition, and we were tied, off by only a couple decimals.
The water was settling down. There were barely any respectable waves, and the ones that did come along we fought for viciously, but even the winner of the wave got a low score. You couldn't do much with a 3 ft wave.
Then I saw my chance, coming on the horizon. So did everyone else. I got into position. Paddling madly, I concentrated on breathing with the ocean, and getting in front of the wave. I popped up on my back leg, creating momentum to get me going. The key now was to stay on your board as long as possible, then when the wave was yours, do as much as you could. Finally, it was just me and #9, both waiting for the other to mess up. The beach was rapidly approaching. with 2 minutes left in the competition, whoever stayed on the longest, won the whole thing. We were running out of water. I decided to try and swoop in in front of her. My board slashed the water, running across the wave. I was just in front of her. I could see myself holding the trophy on top of the pedistol. The split second where I was directly in front of her, our boards almost touching, she decided to cheat. But #9 was smart. She would not do something obvious that would get her disqualified. She leaned back ever so slightly, making her board go forward in a split second. It knocked into mine. I felt a jolt go through my body. And all the sudden, I was in the water.
