One Direction Grown Ups
Chapter 1- the phone call
Louis' POV
it was one of the few days I had off from work. Saturday morning and my 9- year- old daughter Emma, my 5- year- old son Jacob and I were all playing football in the backyard. My beautiful wife Eleanor was making pancakes for breakfast. It's our Saturday morning tradition. I was letting Jacob win against me by scoring a goal on me. Emma was already an amazing football player. She had a game this afternoon even.
Eleanor came outside with the phone. Not work please not work! "Kids come on in" she said and the kids raced inside. "It's for you Lou" El said handing the phone to me.
"is it work?" I asked taking it. She had a sad look on her face. All she did was shake her head. I was immediately concerned. Were any of the boys hurt? Or my family. I really hope not. "Louis here" I said putting the phone to my ear.
"Louis it's me Perrie" Perrie said on the other line. I was frightened even further. As she worked as a nurse.
"is there something wrong?" I asked
"I'm not sure how to put this Louis. But um... I'm afraid that Simon is um.... Well he's passed away." Perrie said choking on those last words.
"what!? How, no this, this can't be." I stammered tears threatening to break.
"Mrs. Cowell is planning a memorial service. He said he wanted it to be at that cabin you know the one that he was always at" Perrie was saying
"when is it?" I asked
"two weeks from now" Perrie replied
"we'll be there" I said ending the conversation.
"what was that about dear?" Eleanor asked coming out with a cup of tea
"Simon has, passed away" I said taking the tea
"oh honey, I'm so sorry" El said giving me a hug.
"I only wish I got a chance to say goodbye." I said rubbing my eyes.
"well come on in breakfast is getting cold." And with that I went inside.
Niall's POV
i was just getting to work. My assistant said I had a call waiting on line one. "Niall Horan's office" I said into the phone.
"Niall it's me Perrie I'm afraid I've got bad news." Perrie said sounding like she's been crying.
"what is it?" I asked my concern growing.
"I'm afraid Simon has... He's passed away" Perrie said sounding as if new tears were coming. I was in complete shock. How could this be? How did this happen. All these thoughts and many more were passing through my head.
"when's da funeral" I asked
"two weeks from now, at the cabin that you and the boys always loved." Perrie said.
"okay, I'll see yah then" I said hanging up the phone. I knew I wouldn't be able to focus on work. Not after that phone call.
Liam's POV
"Hi Liam, it's, it's Perrie" Perrie was on the other line, in Edinburgh I assumed. "Liam listen I'm afraid I have some bad news".
"what is it?" I said leaving the room for some privacy.
"it's Simon I'm afraid that he's, well he's passed away." Perrie said choking up a bit.
"what happened, how did this happen!?" I cried out refusing to believe its true.
"there wasn't much we could do, he had a cardiac arrest. We did everything we could but it just didn't help" Perrie wailed. "Mrs. Cowell is planning a funeral in two weeks at the cabin"
"my family and I will be there" I said hanging up the phone. Not ready to go in to my oblivious family.
Harry's POV
My daughter Darcy and I were practising her piano in the living room. She has been improving greatly and I couldn't be a prouder father. My wonderful wife Casey came in with the phone and handed it to me. "Keep practising darling I'll be right back" I said going somewhere more private. "Harry Styles speaking" I said into the phone.
"Harry it's Perrie, I have some bad news to tell you" said Perrie on the other line in Edinburgh.
"what is it?" I asked sitting on the staircase.
"it's Simon, he's... Passed on" Perrie said, I can tell I wasn't the fist one, she wasn't crying near as much as before.
"when's the funeral" I asked
"two weeks from now, at the cabin" Perrie said
"count me in" I said hanging up the phone giving me a moment to grieve before going back to my happy family.
Zayn's POV
my wife Perrie came back after a long day at work. She look exhausted and sad at the same time. "Honey what's wrong" I asked giving her a hug.
"I thought I should say this in person darling. I'm not sure how you'll take it but, Simon has passed away. From a severe cardiac arrest." Perrie finished burying her head into my chest. I kept her close and rested my head on hers. We stood there like that for who knows how long. "The funeral is in two weeks at the cabin. And your going whether you want to or not" she finished.
"I take it the rest of the boys are coming" she nodded her head. I was excited to see the boys. It's just a shame it had to be because of this.
