Summer Break
I'm not going to do it.
Her mouth was hanging open, a smile forming as she pulled me into the room. “Was that who I think it was, and did he just ask you what I think he asked you?”
“Yes, that was Harry Styles, and yes he asked me out, and yes to whatever other question you’re going to ask!” I rolled my eyes jokingly.
“Annabelle Marie Johnson! Why didn’t you tell me?” she asked.
“He just asked me.” I shrugged and she stared at me smiling and biting her lip. I knew she wanted me to tell her what happened. “Last night, I went to the bar, then he showed up…” I went into pretty boring detail of everything that happened. Including our walk on the beach and the bracelet.
“He saw your One Direction bracelet!? Oh my god!” we laughed at that for a bit. Then I told here about this morning. “and that basically leads into the point where you were eavesdropping. So you’re caught up.” I laughed.
“So, do you like him? Is he a good kisser?” she sang.
“I don’t know if he is a good kisser, but yea. I kind of like him. He’s really sweet.” I smiled thinking about him.
“Yea you‘re whipped.” I glared at her. “So.” she raised her eyebrows. “What are you going to wear?” she smiled so widely. I rolled my eyes again. She loved picking out what I would wear, which was fine because she was good at it.
“Go ahead, pick something out.”
“YAY!!” She hollered running into her and Jake’s room screaming, “My best friend is going on a date with Harry Styles and I get to pick her outfit!”

After Ashley stopped freaking out about the outfit, we decided to put our bathing suits on a head out to the beach. It was nice out, very pretty. The ocean looked so blue. We hung out in the water for a bit, then laid out on our towels to tan. I didn’t want to stay too long because I did not want to burn because that would obviously be embarrassing, and I needed to take a shower and get ready.
While I was lying on my stomach I felt cold water hit my back. I thought it was Jake or Ashley, but when I looked up I saw the biggest smile from the tall curly headed boy I would be seeing again tonight. He winked at me then ran to catch up some other guys that I assumed were some of his friends.
“Oh my god.” Ashley spoke.” Seriously, if you don’t take advantage of tonight, I’m going to go to his room and-”
“ehemm.” Jake cleared his throat.
“And tell him that… that you guys… are…” she paused trying to come up with some bull excuse. “I’ve got nothing. Love you babe.” She said to Jake. I just laughed.
“Stop, you know I’m not going to do it.” I looked away.
“You never know, you could change your mind.” she winked. “He’s Harry Styles.” she squealed.
“I don’t care! He’s probably had sex with many other girls, and I don’t care how famous he is, I’m not going to have sex with him because of that.” Ashley knew that, sometimes she didn’t understand how I could go without sex, considering I was a virgin, it has no effect.
“I know, I know. I think it’s good that you want to wait. Sometimes I wish I did… then other times I’m glad I didn’t. But! I love you, and your decisions. And now I don’t know what I’m saying and maybe I should stop talking now.” She quieted down as she realized what she was saying was beginning to sound very… not stupid but.. No, that’s a good word. Stupid.
“Good idea.”

It was five and I already had my make up done and Ashley was working on my hair. Which is good because I did not have the patience to do both, and this was we were doing what we were good at.
“I’m going for flirty and sexy, yet shy and reserved, complex and a little playful.” She gleamed, she was so excited for me. And I was happy she was.
“So in other words. You’re going to put messy curls in my hair and tease it…”
“Well, yes but. I prefer my words.” I laughed as she pulled and curled and teased then added, “You know, if this goes well, we’re going to have double dates.”
“Of course! That was my thought when he first asked me out!” I laughed. Better have been…

Ten minutes passed and I heard Ashley say, “Okay, you are finished! Now go put on your outfit!” She pushed me towards my room.
“Okay, okay.” I told her moving quicker, “I’m going.”

I walked out of my bedroom with everything on and ready to go. It was about 5:45. Dang, I’m quite proud of myself for extra time.
“Oh my god! You are so hot!” Ashley beamed. “You are going to make his heart stop! He’s not going to know what to say to you! Oh my god!”
“You do look very beautiful Anna.” Jake said walking over and giving me a hug.
“Thank you.” I squeezed him, smiling. “It was mostly this girl, obviously.” I laughed.
“I know, I’m incredible.” she moved toward me. “Okay, so what’s in your clutch.”
I opened it and told her, “Some cash and a card, my id, my phone, lip gloss, my room key, some breathe mints, and a little mirror.”
“Here,” she went to her room and came out with a small blue package. “In case you get oily you go to the bathroom and blot with these oil pads!”
I shoved them in my clutch and smiled. “Okay!”
Ashley gave Jake a look then he left the room, Ashley hugged me real tight. “I just want you to know how proud I am, and how excited for you I am. And I want you to be happy, and I know this is your first date and I’m just so glad all your hard work paid off.” She started tearing. “Oh my god, I feel like a mother.” She threw her hands in the air. “I am an emotional wreck!” I laughed.
“Thank you so much, you’re seriously the best friend I could have ever asked for! But dude, I’m so nervous!!!” She laughed and then the doorbell rang. “Oh my god he’s here. It’s not even 6!”
“Nobody likes tardy people.” She laughed, “Go!” She pushed me towards the door.
‘Why am I so nervous?’ I thought to myself. Oh yea, I was going on a date with Harry Styles. I looked back at her and saw her wink then I took a deep breathe and opened the door. He looked up from the ground and then his eyes met mine.
“Yes, that was Harry Styles, and yes he asked me out, and yes to whatever other question you’re going to ask!” I rolled my eyes jokingly.
