Perfect To Me

I was currently kneeling on Harry’s bed and shaking his sleeping body.

“WAKE UP!” I screeched, but all Harry did was put the spare pillow over his ears. I huffed and carefully stood up and began jumping up and down on his mattress.

“HAROLD! PLEASE WAKE UP!” I yelled and he only groaned, how is he NOT waking up? If it were me I’d kill him for doing this.

“That’s it, you asked for it mister,” I said and began belting out the words to Rebecca Black’s ‘Friday’, also known as the song Harry hates the most. I’d just gotten past the first chorus when Harry abruptly sat up and pushed me down causing me to roll off the bed and onto the hardwood floor. “Second time in the past twenty four hours that I’ve ended up on the floor because of you,” I muttered as I sat up and peeked my head over the edge of the mattress where I saw an angry, tired Harry staring at me.

“What the bloody hell, Abs?!” Harry said as he wiped the sleep from his eyes.

“You slept through breakfast, it’s almost noon and I’m bored,” I whined to him as I crawled onto the mattress and planted myself in his lap.

“Well yeah, I’m tired. You kept tossing and turning last night,” he said as he wrapped his arms around my waist and rested his head on my shoulder and quickly kissed my cheek. A smile forming on my face at the gesture.

“I’m sorry. This is bed is just foreign and it takes me awhile to get used to beds. If I would have been drunk or completely exhausted I wouldn’t have moved but I was sober and barely tired,” I mumbled to him as I played with the curls on the back of his head.

“It’s okay, love. I understand. So what does Abby want to do since she’s bored?” Harry asked, sounding more awake.

“Well I was hoping we could go into town? I saw some shops that I want to go venture into and see if I find things I like,” I asked him and he took a moment to think about it.

“Okay, we can do that. We need to leave in three hours though so why don’t we take our things with us?” He asked as he lifted my small frame off his lap and placed me next to him. He stalked over to his bag and bent over to grab some of his things so he could shower. I quickly reached over to the ground to grab my camera and snapped a picture of Harry before he straightened himself back up with his shower products in his hand.

“Did you just snap a picture of me?” He casually asked with a playful smirk on his face, and I nodded my head to confirm that I did. “Does it look good?” He asked and I quickly pulled the photo up on my camera and observed it.

“Actually, it’s really good. Who knows, maybe I’ll put it in the gallery,” I muttered to myself and Harry walked over to look at it himself.

“It’s just a boring picture, I don’t get it,” Harry said as he sat on the edge of the mattress, forgetting he was going to shower. “How do you get so much from that photo?” He pondered.

“I don’t know. I guess I view things differently than most. The way you’re standing; muscles tensed in your back, a look of focus set on your face, and your hair a mess just kind of gives off this disheveled feel to the photo,” I gushed, not taking my eyes off the photo as I pointed out the details. When I looked up I could tell Harry was having a hard time seeing it. “Let me put it this way, it looks like you’re having a rough awakening,” I told him with a hint of laughter in my voice as I watched it click inside his head.

“I see. Well, I’m going to go shower, I’ll be back shortly and we can head out, okay?” He asked as he stood up and I gave him a firm nod.

An hour later Harry and I found ourselves walking around his hometown, hand in hand, looking in all the small shops. I had a few bags in my hand, as I found some clothes I liked, Harry as well.

“It’s so beautiful out,” I said, mindlessly, as I stared up at the sky.

“It sure is,” Harry spoke and I could feel his eyes on me.

“Don’t be a cheese-ball,” I said without looking at him, but let a playful grin take over my face so he knew I was kidding. In response he only bumped my hip with his. Out of nowhere Harry pulled me into a random shop, and when I took in the store I noticed it was a pastry shop.

“Harry, you’ll ruin your lunch!” I said to him as he dragged me up to the counter.

“Mrs. Louise? That you?” Harry said to the elderly woman behind the counter.

“If it isn’t Mr. Harry?!” The elderly woman, Mrs. Louise, replied as she walked around the counter. Once she got up to Harry she pulled him into a warm hug, which Harry hugged back. “How are you, son?” She asked once they pulled apart.

“I’ve been great! Busy with the lads but I’ve been good. How are you and Mr. Walter holding up?” Harry asked. I was confused as to how he knew this woman.

“Oh we’ve been fine sweetheart,” she said as she patted his arm. “Who’s this pretty little thing next to you?” She asked, pointing her gaze to me. I sent her a warm smile, which she returned.

“Oh, how incredibly rude of me! This is my girlfriend Abby, Abby this is my old boss Mrs. Louise,” Harry said as he pulled me into his side.

“It’s nice to meet you Mrs. Louise,” I said to her.

“You as well, dear. I see you’re American, what part?” She asked, making light conversations.

“Born and raised in California,” I told her.

“Oh! I’ve been to California, its gorgeous there, always so sunny unlike England,” She said with a sparkle in her eyes.

“I love the weather here; the rain really makes you appreciate warm, sunny days.”

“Why, I’ve never looked at it that way! Harry you’ve got yourself a keeper,” she said as she walked back behind the counter.

“I tell myself that all the time,” Harry said as he walked over to look at the pastries.

“Do you want your favorites, dear?” Mrs. Louise asked without even looking up from the cash register.

“Do you have some?” Harry asked with a smile on his face.

“For you? Of course I do,” Mrs. Louise said as she walked to the back and came back out a few moments later with a white pastry box and two cookies in her hands. She handed one to Harry and one to me, and Harry went to pull out his wallet. “Don’t be silly dear, they’re on the house. Anything for my favorite employee,” she said with a smile on her face. I took a bite of the cookie and my mouth watered instantly and my eyes flew open.

“Oh my god! These are delicious!” I said as I took another bite. “Did you make them yourself?” I asked and she nodded her head. “You are quite the pastry chef!”

“She loves her foods,” Harry said about me, causing me to blush and elbow him in the stomach.

“Says the man who already finished his,” I countered.

“What are you two kids up to today?” Mrs. Louise asked as she moved some things around.

“Just roaming around town before we head back to London,” Harry mentioned as he leaned against the counter.

“Well I’d better let you two go off then, got things to do as well!” She, cheerfully, said as she walked back to the back of the store. Before we left the shop Harry pulled out his wallet and put a large amount of money on the counter and attached a quick note.

You all deserve it. You had to put up with me.
XXX, Harry

We walked out of the shop and started down the street again.

“That was sweet of you,” I told him as I tucked myself into his side and he wrapped his arm around my shoulder, holding me in place.

“Yeah well, I wasn’t the easiest teenager to deal with,” he said with laughter.

“Always stirring up trouble?” I asked him and he chuckled.

“Don’t you know it. I’d purposefully mess up on some pastries just so I could eat them and I’d flick flour on my face to get the full effect of a chef,” he said and I couldn’t help but laugh. “I always brought in a lot of tips too, I was an outgoing fellow. I’d talk to all the customers and earned us regulars, I sometimes regret ever leaving,” Harry said and when I looked up he was frowning.

“How come?” I asked him.

“They were so shorthanded and really needed the help. Walter has a hard time getting around so poor Louise worked a majority of the time. They also always seemed to struggle financially every now and then, I knew it was hard on them so sometimes at the end of my shift they’d give me my share of the tips and when they weren’t looking I’d put my share back into the tip jar.”

“That’s sweet of you,” I told him as I squeezed him in a reassuring manner.

“Yeah, their great people, I always advertise their bakery when I’m out and about,” He said with a chuckle added at the end.

“Well that’s good,” I told him.

“During the winter holidays I always go back and volunteer my time to help them out because that’s their busiest season,” he added and I couldn’t help but admire him for that. After all these years being in One Direction he’s still grounded and comes back to his normal life and repay those that meant a lot to him. We fell into a comfortable silence as we continued to window shop. I loved Holmes Chapel, it’s so quaint, nothing like London.

“You hungry, love?” Harry asked, breaking the silence.

“Do you have to ask?” I said to him and he just laughed.

“Just wanted to make sure, the cars up here so we’ll drop our things off then I’ll take you to my favorite restaurant. Sound good?” He asked and I nodded my head in confirmation.

“Well if it isn’t Mr. Harry Styles!” A flamboyant, petite, blond girl Harry’s age said as we approached his car.

“Lauren? That you!” Harry said as he walked up to the girl he called Lauren and gave her a hug. I walked up to his side and looked the girl up and down. She was gorgeous.

“Yeah, long time no see, lad!” Lauren said as she smacked Harry’s upper arm. “How you been?”

“Busy, but great! How are you? I haven’t seen you since the good ole school days,” Harry said, a reminiscent smile on his face.

“I’ve been good. Uni is a bit of a drag but I’m glad I’m on holiday,” she said and then looked at me. “Oh! I’m sorry, I didn’t see you standing there. I’m Lauren, an old friend of Harry’s,” Lauren introduced herself to me by sticking her hand out which I took.

“I’m Abby, Harry’s girlfriend,” I told her.

“Yeah, I see you two in the tabloids all the time! I can tell you make my Harry very happy,” she said and I couldn’t help but smile at Harry and her statement caused him to blush.

“So how do you and Harry know one another?” I asked Lauren.

“We went to school together and we dated for a while back in the day,” she said. “Over half a year I think, right Harry?” She asked him and when I looked at Harry I could tell he felt uncomfortable.

“Yeah, I think just short of a year,” he said, avoiding my eyes. “Then you decided to play for the other team,” Harry joked.

“Oh shut up! I’m sorry I’m not attracted to men!” Lauren exclaimed with laughter.

“Wait, you’re a lesbian?” I asked her, thrown off guard.

“Lesbian and proud!” She stated.

“Lipstick lesbian?” I asked and she nodded her head.

“What in bloody name is that?” Harry asked as he looked at me.

“She’s a girly lesbian, Harry. Not a manly one,” I said, as if he should have known. “How long have you been a lesbian?” I asked her.

“Ever since Harry and I broke up,” she said and I couldn’t help but look up at Harry with a smile and I saw he was blushing.

“You turned a girl into a lesbian!?” I asked him with laughter.

“No!” He yelled as he looked at me, you could tell he was embarrassed.

“It’s okay, Harry,” I comforted him.

“Nah, it wasn’t him. I dated a few guys before Harry and I just felt off, like I wasn’t attracted to any of them. Then I dated Harry and for a bit I was attracted to him but I also noticed I was attracted to girls, and then after a while I wasn’t attracted to Harry at all,” she informed me and I nodded my head in understanding.

“Yeah, see it was some other guy, I was just the deciding factor,” Harry, matter of factly, said.

“Well that’s cool, I mean for you but not for Harry’s ego,” I joked and Harry glared at me.

“Yeah but we stayed friends. Anyways, I’ve got to get going to work! I can’t be late. It was nice seeing you Harry and nice meeting you Abby,” Lauren said as she waved goodbye and walked away.

“You’re mean,” Harry said as he the back of his car and we put our things away.

“Oh, babe I’m kidding,” I told him and hugged him. “Let’s face it, if you didn’t turn her into a lesbian you probably wouldn’t be dating me right now,” I told him with a shrug of my shoulder.

“True, she was one of my favorite girlfriends. But it’s a good thing she’s a lesbian so you don’t have to worry about her stealing me away from you,” Harry said as he placed his hands on my hips and pressed a kiss to my lips, after we pulled away I glared at him. “BUT, if she wasn’t a lesbian and I was still dating her when I met you, I’d definitely dump her for you,” Harry countered and I smiled at him.

“Much better,” I said as I patted his hair. “Come on, let’s go eat, I’m starving,” I told him and he dragged me down the street to a nice quaint restaurant.
