Perfect To Me

Got A Real Solution

All throughout the week I’d text Abby, all day every day. In between my studio time we would hang out whether it was getting breakfast, lunch, dinner or just hanging out at her flat. I hadn’t introduced her to the rest of the guys yet because I’m nervous either Niall or Zayn will try to charm her and take her away from me. In plus, she’s my friend not theirs, yes I’m territorial, I can’t help it. Currently it was Friday and Abby had been sick since yesterday and I felt terrible, she has the flu so of course she is miserable. I decided I would run by her flat today to check on her and make sure she is still alive, but I had to go into the studio first to work on our second album. I had just arrived at the studio booth when Liam was tracking his part for one of the songs, it’s my absolute favorite song so far, Live While We’re Young, it’s a catchy kind of 'I want to dance to it' song.

“Hey Lad,” Niall said from his spot on the couch. I walked over to him and took a seat.

“Hey Niall.”

“What are you up to?” He asked, distracted by his phone.

“Uh. Nothing? You do know we are at the studio right mate?” I asked him and he peered up from his phone and looked around at his surroundings.

“Oh, we are aren’t we? I don’t remember…” Niall said and I just simply shook my head at him.

“Hey Harry, what are you doing for the rest of the day?” Zayn said from the soundboard.

“Going to visit Abby after the studio.”

“Yeah, have you done it yet?” He said as he wiggled his eyebrows at me.

“No! It’s not like that, she and I are just friends! Why can’t I be friends with the opposite sex?” I said to no one in particular.

“Mate, we know how you are. There is no such thing as just friends for you!” Niall said while shoving my shoulder.

“Well her and I are just friends, so get over it,” I said pulling my phone out to text the star of the conversation.

To: Abby
How ya feelin, love? Any better?

She quickly text me back, which was weird because she should be sleeping.

From: Abby
No. I feel like death ):

After typing up a response and sending the message the producer let me know it was my turn to track the song and that we were only tracking two songs today since we got so much done yesterday. I stepped into the booth and put the headphones on so I could hear the song, and began singing my heart out.

After a few more hours we decided to call it quits and go home for some rest. As we were walking out of the studio Louis approached me.

“Are you and her really just friends? You don’t have to lie to me mate,” Louis said quietly so the others wouldn’t hear.

“We really are just friends.”

“Do you fancy her?”

“I don’t know, Lou! She’s a great girl, but I’ve only known her a week!” I exclaimed. It was beginning to get on my nerves with how they were acting about this whole ordeal.

“I’m sorry! I’m just happy for you, you seem so happy when you are going to hang out with her or when you come home from hanging out with her. All I care about it your happiness,” Lou said and walked off in the direction the other lads went. I just shook my head and hailed a cab. Once I got in the cab I told him the address to Abby’s flat. I got dropped off outside the building but I walked down the street to a corner café to get her some soup, everybody loves soup when they’re sick. I approached the counter and the girl behind it looked up and appeared as if she were going to fate.

“Hello,” I said, it was obvious she was star struck.

“Uh-u-uh hi, um how can I help you?” She said, blinking back her shock.

“Yes, can I get a bowl of chicken noodle soup, actually make that two bowls and two cups of tea,” I listed off to her.

“Are you here with your girlfriend?” The girl asked as she looked around me.

“Excuse me? My girlfriend?” I asked her, genuinely confused.

“Yeah, it’s all over the internet that you’re dating some brunette who isn’t famous, is it not true?” She asked, hope written in her eyes.

“’Fraid not. This lad is still single,” I said to her with a smile on my face. I love how jealous the fans get when I’m seen with a woman.

“Oh okay, anyways is your order for here or to go?” She asked, getting back on track.

“To go please.” I quickly handed her the correct amount and slipped a bit of money in her tip jar and then went to take a seat so I could wait for my order. As I was seated a few fans came up to me and asked for photos and autographs. I held a few conversations with some of them, but one conversation caught me off guard.

“How is your girlfriend Harry?” A woman asked and I looked up and my mouth dropped open. Stood in front of me was none other than Caroline Flack, my last fling. We had a thing going on for a few months but decided to call it off since neither of us felt anything for one another.

“Caroline? What are you doing here?” I asked her.

“Just grabbing a bite to eat before heading back to work. How’s the lady of yours?” She said as she took a seat at my table.

“What lady?”

“The little brunette you’ve been seen with around London for the past week.”

“Oh, that’s not my girlfriend. Simply just a friend,” I said to her, people were staring at us and I was beginning to feel a bit awkward.

“Well she’s quite the looker, you did well.”

“I’ll tell her you said that and thank you. She’s a lovely friend,” I said to Caroline as I looked at my watch to check the time.

“Got somewhere to be?” Caroline asked as she saw me look at my watch.

“I’m going to see Abby. She’s been sick with the flu and I feel terrible so I’m bringing her some soup and tea. They are just taking forever to make it.”

“You never brought me soup or tea when I was sick? You used to avoid me like the plague when I was sick!” Caroline joked. It was true though, I never visited her when she felt under the weather. I’m not a fan of sick people, but Abby was different.

“Sorry. I guess I’m a changed man now, Caroline.”

“Right, indeed you are.”

“To go order for Harry?” A man yelled from the counter, I stood up to collect my order and tipped my head to the man.

“It was good seeing you Caroline but I’ve got to go,” I said to Caroline as I walked by and left the café. I walked back to Abby’s building where I was greeted by a happy Stan. Stan the man.

“Hello Mr. Harry, visiting Miss. Grimes I see?” Stan asked as he held the door open for me.

“Yeah, she’s been cooped up in her flat since yesterday. She’s a bit under the weather so I figured I would bring her some soup. How you been?” I asked him, standing off to the side so I didn’t block the door way.

“I’ve been just lovely, thank you. How have you been?” He asked as he held the door open for someone else.

“Great, thanks for asking. I’ll catch up with you later. Good seeing you,” I said to Stan as I walked away. I walked over to lift and pressed the button. The doors slid open where I stepped inside and hit the number three. Once I arrived on the third floor I walked down two doors to Abby’s flat and knocked. I heard no response but Sage’s barking so I tested the knob and it was unlocked. I let myself in and went straight to Abby’s bedroom. She lay in her bed succumbed in blankets and dirty tissues.

“How are you feeling love?” I asked as I flicked the light on. I heard an inaudible groan come from the blankets and I couldn’t help but laugh. “Come again?”

“I smell food,” Abby croaked, poking her head out from her duvet.

“Of course you do. I brought you some soup and tea, I hope you don’t mind.”

“Not one bit. You are godly,” Abby said as she slowly moved to sit up. I handed her one of the Styrofoam bowls and a plastic spoon and then I set her cup of tea on her bed stand. I walked to the corner of her room and pulled a chair over to the end of her bed and propped my feet onto the mattress and dug into my own soup.

“You sound better today than you did yesterday.”

“I feel a little better, I think it’s starting to pass,” Abby mentioned as she blew on a spoonful of soup. “How was the studio?”

“It was great, we tracked two songs but it took a while because we were having some technical issues.”

“That’s too bad. At least you got some done. Where’d you get this soup from?” Abby curiously asked.

“The café on the corner of your block. Do you like it?” I asked and she just simply nodded her head.

“It tastes like my gran’s homemade chicken noodle soup.”

We sat there in silence eating our soup and drinking our tea. It wasn’t an awkward silence though, it was actually quite comfortable. I know she’d probably hate me for saying this, but she looks really cute when she’s sick, her nose is red from constantly blowing it and she doesn’t have any make up on and that just brings out her blue eyes even more.

“What are you staring at?” She asked. I hadn’t even realized I was staring.

“Huh? Oh nothing, just thinking.”

“About?” She pressed.

“The new album. I think it’s going to be fantastic.”

“That’s good. I have a photo shoot coming up that I’m excited about,” she mentioned with a small smile on her face.

“Yeah? Who are you shooting?”

“Can’t say, it’s a secret. But trust me, it’s going to be awesome,” she said as she slid back under her duvet as she finished her soup. I just shook my head and took mine and hers empty containers to throw them away in the kitchen trash. I walked back into her room and she was already out cold, I put the chair I pulled out back where I found it and got Sage to leave the room so I could quietly shut her bedroom door. I had nothing else to do today so I figured I’d stick round here until she woke up again. I went over to her couch and flicked on the telly to some random movie. I made myself comfortable and Sage joined me. Before I could do anything my eyes easily slipped close and I fell into a wonderful sleep.

I woke up lounged across my bed under five blankets when I poked my head out to see the time. My clock said it was half past 8pm in big red letters. I climbed out of bed and I could instantly tell the soup Harry brought me was starting to help me feel better. I stretched a little bit and went to the bathroom to go pee. After using the bathroom and washing my hands I made my way for the kitchen to grab a glass of water when I noticed the TV was on and a bush of brown hair was peaking over the couch. With a smile on my face I walked over to the couch to see a snoring Harry and a sleeping Sage on his chest. I went and got my cell phone and came back out to snap a picture, this is a golden picture. I got my glass of water and quickly drank it, as I sauntered back into my room I grabbed a spare blanket from my closet and walked back into the living area where I tossed the blanket over Harry, trying not to disturb him. He stirred in his sleep but didn’t wake up. I went back in my room and climbed under the covers and quickly fell asleep again, this time until morning.

Notes
