Perfect To Me

Never Leave A Fight Unresolved

I tried opening my eyes but the sunlight coming in from my window was too much at this hour. I flipped over so I was facing the other way and took a look at my phone.
July 5th, 2012- 9:53pm

Realizing the date, that somehow slipped my mind, I jumped out of bed and pulled on a pair of pants before going into the living room of mine and Louis’ apartment. Which is packed up because we both decided our roommate days are over and have both purchased houses. I ran through the living room into the kitchen where I saw Louis making himself some toast.

“What are you doing up at this hour?” I asked him as I pulled the fridge door open and grabbed the orange juice.

“Going to see Eleanor after her morning class. Why are you up so early? Normally you don’t wake up until after noon?” He asked while throwing a few more pieces of bread in the toaster for me.

“Abby gets in today in an hour and a half, and I’m picking her up.”

“Oh that’s right! I almost forgot. Are you happy?” He asked while taking my cup of orange juice from my hand and taking a sip of it.

“Very. Except I sent her a text yesterday saying I’d see her at the airport and she sent me a text back saying we needed to talk. So I’m a bit confused as to what I’ve done wrong,” I told him while putting jam onto my toast and taking a seat at our breakfast bar.

“Have you seen the tabloids recently, mate?” Louis asked from beside me, in which I gave him a confused look. “All the magazines are going on about you and some mystery blonde, they think you and Abby broke up or you got caught cheating on her.”

“What? From when we all went to Funky Buddha last week?” I asked him, appalled as he simply nodded his head. “I wasn’t even pissed! We just shared a cab. Nothing even happened,” I yelled. Getting angry that, that could be the topic of Abby and I’s discussion later on.

“Harry, don’t tell me that. It is a little suspect when she’s on the other side of the globe and sees magazines with pictures of you and a fit, blonde out on the town. No girl would like that,” Louis told me, and I agreed with his reasoning.

“I suppose you’re right. I hope she isn’t too mad because I got us tickets for the Coldplay concert that’s here in a few days,” I, mindlessly, told him.

“I heard that’s supposed to be a good show!” Louis exclaimed while cleaning the mess he made in the kitchen. “Look mate, I’m headin’ out now. So good luck with Abby, yeah?” He asked and I nodded my head. After finishing my toast I drank the rest of my orange juice and went back into my room and hopped into the shower and got ready to go pick up Abby at Heathrow.

I, finally, arrived at the airport and parked my car in the car park. Before climbing out I put my sunglasses on and my beanie. I made the short walk to the entrance of the airport and waited for Abby outside of the terminals. According to the arrival screen her plane just landed and she should be on her way out. A few fans recognized me while I waited and asked for a photo or an autograph, which I happily gave to them. Just as I was in the middle of taking a picture with a little girl I heard someone clear their throat from beside me, when I looked to my left Abby stood there with a smile on her face as our eyes locked with one another’s.

“Hi,” she quietly said as I finished up with the picture.

“Hello,” I said as I closed the space in between us and rested my hands on her hips.

“Can I kiss you or are you too mad at me for that?” I asked her as I gazed into her deep, blue orbs. Instead of answering my question she brought her lips on top of mine. Once I realized what was going on I kissed back, and we both smiled into the kiss.

“I may be mad at you right now, but I’ve missed your lips,” Abby said as we locked our fingers together and made our way towards baggage claim to collect her suitcase.

“Good, because I don’t know what I’d do if I couldn’t greet you with a kiss every time I saw you,” I told her as I knocked my hips into hers, which got a smile out of her. “So when are we going to have this discussion?” I asked, as I looked down at her.

“Once we get out of the public eye,” she said, her head faced towards the ground.

“Are we going to yell?” I asked.

“You probably will, but I don’t want to. You know I hate yelling,” Abby told me, finally looking up at me, sadness in her eyes. “I just wanna know some things and if those things are true.”

“I’ll be honest with you,” I told her as we arrived at baggage claim, just as the conveyor belt started to bring the bags out.

“I hope you will,” Abby said as she detached her hand from mine and walked forward to pull her bag off the conveyor belt. I took the bag from her hands and intertwined our fingers together again as we made our way to my car. I held the car door open for her as she climbed in, and then walked around to the driver’s side and hopped in. I brought the car to life and cautiously made my way to the exit of the car park.

“Can we talk now? I’m less likely to yell if I’m driving,” I told her, quickly glancing her from the corner of my eye.

“Okay. Did you cheat on me while I was gone?” Abby bluntly asked, causing me to choke on my own saliva.

“No, I wouldn’t do that to you, Abby,” I, truthfully, told her.

“I saw the magazines,” She said while pulling a magazine out of her bag and showing me the cover.

“Abby, she was just a friend, I promise.”

“You looked so…flirtatious though,” She said, flipping through the magazine. I used one hand to snatch the magazine from her and throw it in the back of my car.

“Ignore the magazine, Abby! I did not cheat on you and I didn’t even flirt with her or anybody!” I yelled, squeezing the steering wheel, trying to keep my composure.

“Well I wasn’t there so how do I know that, Harry?!” Abby yelled back in response, crawling in the backseat to retrieve the magazine.

“So you don’t believe me?! Are you mental!”

“I’ve been cheated on before Harry! The same excuse he used was ‘oh she’s just a friend!’ That ended up being bullshit!!” Abby yelled, as she rolled the magazine up from frustration.

“Look Abby, we both left at the same time so we took the same cab. I was being a gentleman by making sure she got home okay. Nothing happened! I didn’t even drink that night! I did not cheat on you. I would never even think of doing that to you,” I explained to her with a high tone in my voice.

“I don’t believe you. You know I thought it’d be easy dating someone that’s in the limelight, but it’s not! It’s a lot more difficult, because all I see is magazines and websites about how you’re a manwhore and all you do is play women. I refuse to be one of your games, Harry!” Abby yelled as she removed her seatbelt since we came to stop outside her flat building.

“Get out,” I told her through gritted teeth, not making any eye contact with her.

“What does it look like I’m doing? I’m getting out and getting my bag then never talking to you again, you prick!” Abby yelled at me as she swung my backdoor open to get her suitcase.

“That won’t be hard because I don’t talk to people that can’t trust me!” I yelled back at her as she slammed my door shut and stomped inside the building. I sped off to head back to my flat, and hoped Louis wasn’t home. I didn’t feel like dealing with anyone.

--2 hours later—

“UGH! I hate him, I hate him, I hate him!” I yelled into my empty apartment. Charlotte was out with some friends she met at her new job so I hadn’t seen her all day. I was hoping I could talk to her and calm down, but that just didn’t seem feasible at this moment. I was tired of sitting around my flat, wallowing in my anger so I decided to call one person I knew I would have fun with, they picked up on the second ring.

“’Ello!” Niall, chipperly, said into the phone.

“Hey Ni,” I, glumly, said into the receiver.

“What’s the matter there Abs?”

“Harry and I got into a fight,” I told him, trailing off at the end.

“How bad?” He asked.

“Pretty bad. I’m almost certain we broke up.”

“Oh no! I’m sorry! So why are you calling me? Don’t you have Charlotte? I’m sure she’s better at comforting you,” Niall asked as I heard him move around on his end.

“She’s out with a few friends from work. I was wondering if you wanted to go get some drinks? I just need alcohol right now,” I honestly told him.

“You don’t even have to ask! I’d never turn down beer! I’ll send you the address to my favorite bar, yeah?”

“Yeah,” I told him, a small smile gracing its way onto my face.

“We’ll drink, and talk this thing out. I don’t know how much help I’ll be, but I can sure try!” The Irish boy that I’d grown to be fond of, as a friend, said into the phone.

“Thanks, I’ll see you in thirty?” I asked, and he replied before we both hung up. I walked over to my door and pulled my boots on, before grabbing my bag and taking the elevator to the lobby. I had just waved down a cab when Niall sent me the address so I repeated it to the cabbie and after a few minutes we pulled up outside a hole in the wall pub. Once I walked inside I immediately saw why Niall liked it here, it was completely deserted for it being three o’ clock on a Saturday. I saw the blonde sitting at the bar, and looked to be munching on some pretzels. I waltzed over to him and took the seat beside him.

“There’s my favorite American! I’ve already ordered us two pints!” Niall exclaimed as he pulled me into a hug.

“Here’s my favorite Irish! Have you eaten yet?” I asked him, already knowing what the answer would be.

“Yeah but I’m still hungry. I was waiting for you to get here to see if you wanted to share some wings with me,” he said while flipping through the pubs menu.

“Definitely! Order some of those bad boys,” I told him while taking a swig of the beer that the bartender sat in front of me. After Niall ordered the food we made small talk while gulping down our pints.

“So, are you going to tell me what happened between you and Harry?” He finally asked as he told the bartender, with his hands, that we wanted two more pints.

“Get comfortable,” I told him and quickly jumped into what went down between me and Harry. As I told him the story we consumed two more pints, and weren’t even affected by the alcohol.

“That’s intense,” he said once I finished up.

“Tell me about it.”

“If you don’t mind me asking, why didn’t you believe him?” Niall asked, and I was expecting him to ask that.

“I don’t know. I would just hear so much about his past and how he would sleep with a different woman almost every night and it started to scare me. It made me think that he might just cheat on me one day because he was afraid of settling down.”

“But he told you he loves you?” Niall asked as our food came out.

“I know. I’ve been in that situation before with my ex. We supposedly loved one another but he still cheated on me. So when I saw that magazine talking about Harry and some girl, it just brought back my past and made me doubt him. I’ve never been good at relationships, something always happens,” I told him while grabbing a wing.

“I think you have the mindset that something will always happen because you’re scared of getting cheated on again. You have to trust Harry, he has never told a girl, that he isn’t related to, that he loves her. That itself is a big step for him, he would never cheat on you. In plus, I was there that night, he hardly exchanged two words with that girl, in fact all he did was talk about how much he missed you and he just wanted to make sure Elizabeth, the girl, didn’t run into any harm while on her way home. Guys are pigs you know,” Niall explained to me, and it started to make sense.

“When Harry explained it, it was just too good to be true. It’s just difficult dating him, because people do make rumors up so it’s hard to know what’s real and what’s fake. That also makes it so easy for someone to lie and say the paparazzi made it to get a paycheck.”

“Abby, that story you saw is definitely fake. I wasn’t there when he rode home with her, but I know Harry and I know he didn’t put any moves on her once he left. When he sees someone he’s attracted to, he pays no attention to anyone else. He didn’t give Elizabeth the time of day, he said hi to her and asked how she had been and that was it for the night. That is very unlike him,” Niall told me and I started to feel guilty for arguing with Harry.

“I feel like a douchebag now,” I, bluntly, told Niall and in response he snorted at me with a mouthful of chicken wing.

“He bought you Coldplay tickets for their show in a few days.”

“What? Why?” I asked him.

“I don’t know. He said he knows Coldplay is one of your favorite bands of this time and he just wanted you to relax and have a good time before you two went off to your next stop for work,” Niall explained to me after swallowing his food.

“That’s so sweet of him,” I, mindlessly, said while thinking of Harry doing that.

“Yeah, he mentioned something about just wanting you to dance and let loose. Whatever that means.”

“Do you know where he’s at?” I asked Niall, while drinking the last of my beer.

“Probably at his flat being a miserable wreck, why? Are you leaving me? Who’s going to eat the weird wings?! You know I only eat the drumstick ones!” Niall said to me, blocking me from getting up.

“Fine. I’ll get them to go if that makes you happy,” I told him while calling the bartender over and asking for a box. After putting all the ‘weird’ wings into the box I stood up and faced Niall.

“Thanks Niall, I appreciate it. It’s always nice to clear my head while having a few beers with one of my best friends,” I told him while I engulfed him in a hug.

“I’m one of your best friends?” He asked, with a mouthful and buffalo sauce on his face.

“Yes Niall. We both love food and beer. You have to be one of my best friends if you love those two things,” I told him with a smile on my face and turned to walk away.

“I guess I’m picking up your tab?” He yelled out to me and I turned around and nodded my head at him, which in response he flipped me off. I walked out to the sidewalk and hailed a cab, once I climbed inside I rattled off Harry’s address to the driver.

Fifteen minutes later I stood outside Harry’s door trying to figure out what I was going to tell him, and most importantly, how I was going to apologize. Just as I was thinking things through the door flung open and revealed a sad looking Harry.

“Abby, what do you want? I’m fixing to go to Liam’s,” He, rudely said to me. Everything I was thinking about before he opened the door had left my mind, and I was clueless, frozen on the spot, so I acted on impulse. I flung myself forward and attached our lips, after a few seconds I felt Harry start to kiss back, so I pulled away.

“I’m sorry for not believing you, it’s just hard to see all these stories about you and not knowing if it’s true or not. Especially when I’m in a different country and I know about your past of sleeping with random women, and it just made me nervous,” I rambled off to him, still holding on to him with my arms around his neck.

“Abby—“

“No, let me finish. I feel like the biggest jerk, then Niall explained the night to me and it just made me feel like an even bigger idiot. I’m so sorry for not trusting you, especially when you haven’t done anything to lose my trust or put my trust on the line. I love you Harry, I really do and just please forgive?” I said to him, while staring into his piercing green eyes that never failed to mesmerize me.

He didn’t respond, all he did was pull me inside of his apartment and press his lips to mine. That’s the only sign I needed to know he forgives me.

“Liam can wait,” Harry said against my lips. “I haven’t seen my girlfriend in weeks.” I smiled into the kiss as we made our way to Harry’s bedroom. “I just want you to know that, that girl wasn’t even my type.”

“Yeah? What’s your type?” I asked him as I worked to get his shirt off.

“Abby Grimes is my type,” Harry said as he threw me down on his bed and climbed on top of me.

“I’ve missed you so much,” I told him.

“I love you so much,” Harry said right before we got tangled into an ocean of intimacy and love.
