Perfect To Me

We Have Each Other To Lean On

“Sageeeeeee, what can you and mommy do?” I asked my dog as I sat in the living room at Harry’s apartment. I looked down at the ground at my dog and she stood up and walked away right as I did. “Fine, be that way you turd.” I went to Harry’s room and grabbed my laptop from its bag and climbed onto his bed. Once I powered my computer to life I clicked on the Skype button to see if anyone was on, right as I logged on I saw Harry’s name pop up. A smile took over my face as I clicked the call button and waited a minute as it rang before he picked up and his face appeared on my screen.

“Love!!” Harry exclaimed once my face appeared on his laptop.

“Harry!” I yelled back with just as much excitement as him. As soon as I said his name Sage heard me and came running into his room and came to sit beside me.

“Hey! It’s Sage!” Harry said as my dog moved into the shot. “I take it by the poster behind you that things didn’t go well with Charlotte?” Harry asked as he pointed behind me.

“I didn’t even talk to her, instead I get home and my room was a disaster, she had destroyed it. So I wrote her a note and left.”

“I’m sorry, love. Hey, three more days and you’ll be in Australia! Just think about that,” Harry advised as he messed with some of his belongings in his bunk.

“Yeah I know, but the only thing that sucks is that it’s winter there now. I wish it were summer there,” I mindlessly told him.

“I could always fly down and keep you warm you know,” Harry, tried to, say quietly but I heard him.

“Nice try, butt munch,” I told him and he smiled at me. “Who knows though, maybe if I like it down there I move there. I bet it’d be wonderful,” I, subconsciously, said.

“What? You’d really move there?” Harry said with his mouth fallen open.

“Yeah, I mean if I loved it I would. I’m sure I could transfer to the company’s location in Sydney.”

“I thought you love London?” Harry asked, disappointment in his voice.

“I do love London, but I just love traveling too. What’s the matter?” I asked him, sitting up a little straighter.

“You’re saying if you fall in love with Australia while you’re there you’d move there? What right after your trip around the world? You’d just give up on us?” Harry said, growing angry.

“What? How did our relationship get involved with my desire to live in different places?” I asked him, appalled that he would think that.

“A long distance relationship wouldn’t work out Abby! We can barely handle being away from one another now, how would we do if it were all the time?!” Harry yelled, causing me to wince.

“Stop yelling. It isn’t necessary. Harry, I never said I was going to move there, I just said I would like to live there. I love London, I’m happy in London. Our relationship, would last, I mean sure it’d be difficult but we’d make it work. Everything with us is going to be hard Harry because you’re in an international boy band. We would be fine, because we both love one another and love can make people do anything,” I pleaded to him, trying to convince him that everything would be okay even if I decided to move to Australia.

“Just don’t move,” Harry quietly begged as he stared at me through the lens.

“Okay,” I told him. “Can we change the topic now?” I asked as I situated myself into a more comfortable position.

“Sure, what would you like to talk about?” Harry asked.

“I don’t know. How are the rest of the boys?” I asked him, curious to know how my, new, four favorite men were doing.

“They’re good. Niall’s eating, like always. Zayn is fixing his hair because Paul ruffled it. Liam is out running around with Danielle, and Louis is sitting right next to me since Eleanor is napping. Speaking of Louis, he wants to talk to you,” Harry said while he handed the laptop to Louis and Louis’ face replaced Harry’s.

“So little Harold here told me you stayed at our flat, yeah?” Louis asked and I nodded my head. “I hope you’ve been minding your own business and not rummaging through my things.”

“That makes me think you’re hiding something…” I trailed off.

“I’m not. Just keep your nose out of my room,” Louis sternly, but jokingly, said.

“You see Louis, last I checked you’re in America…and, oh look at that, I’m in your apartment that’s in London. A whole ocean and country away from you, I can do whatever my little heart pleases,” I told him, tempted to go look in his room now.

“I hate you, you wanker,” Louis said, and I saw Harry reach out and slap Louis in the back of his head.

“Don’t talk to my girlfriend like that, you’re the wanker,” Harry told him, and they both went into a punching fit, it caused me to laugh.

“Can I talk to my boyfriend now? If not, then Louis I’m going into your room,” I yelled, stopping them from hitting each other and causing them both to look at the camera.

“Don’t do it,” Louis said, pointing at me through the computer and then let Harry take the computer back.

“You’re going to go in his room aren’t you?” Harry asked.

“Hmm…” I hummed, thinking about going into Louis’ room only to make him mad. “Yep!” I said while picking up the laptop and running over to Louis’ room so Harry could watch me. “Where to start?” I said to myself.

“Third drawer from the top of his dresser,” Harry said and I ran over to his dresser and threw open the drawer Harry told me to check.

“Ew, it’s just his underwear Harry!” I told him, a disgusted look on my face.

“Dang it! He moved it, um…check under his mattress!” Harry said, like a light bulb went off in his head. I stood up and made my way over to his mattress. “Check under the left side,” Harry informed. I walked over to the left side and lifted it up, but quickly dropped it in disgust.

“Harry! I didn’t want to see his porn collection!!” I yelled and ran away from his mattress. “That’s so gross! He has a girlfriend! Why does he need those!” I yelled and I heard Harry laughing from where I had set the laptop on top of Louis’ dresser. “You’re gross. I bet you have some of those magazines too.”

“Actually I don’t. I threw them away after I met you,” Harry, smugly, said.

“Good boy.” I wandered over to Louis’ en suite bathroom and opened the door. I saw the typical hair products and rolled my eyes at how feminine Louis. I opened the cabinets and saw a box of feminine products sitting underneath the sink, and I immediately started laughing.

“What’s so funny? What did you find?” I heard Harry and yell and I walked over to the computer the box of tampons in my hand and held them up. A look of pure distaste appeared on Harry’s face once he realized what I was holding.

“He is SO whipped,” I snickered and went to put them up. I walked out, grabbed my laptop and went back into Harry’s room where I made myself comfortable on his bed again.

“Maybe I should put mine in your bathroom Harry,” I teased him.

“No! No! No! No you may not put those things in my bathroom!” Harry shouted and I couldn’t help but laugh at him.

“You mean my tampons Harry?”

“Don’t say that word!” Harry said while covering his ears.

“What word Harry? TAMPONS!!!!” I screamed at the monitor, and I knew he heard me because I saw him wince.

“Please stop?” Harry begged, using the puppy dog pout.

“I’ll stop if you say tampons Harry, you’re an adult. Don’t be so childish,” I told him, smiling sweetly at him.

“Fine. Tampons, there I said it, are you happy now?” Harry asked, defeat apparent in his voice. I threw my hands in the air at my success.

“Very.” I turned the laptop around and walked over to my bag where I pulled out my pajamas.

“What are you doing?” Harry asked and without looking back at him I replied.

“Getting changed into comfier clothes,” I said while sliding my jeans off and sliding on a pair of sweatpants. Then taking off my flannel shirt and replacing it with Harry’s Ramones shirt that he left at my place before he left for tour.

“Nice shirt,” Harry said once I turned around and faced the laptop.

“Thanks, it’s my favorite,” I replied and out of the corner of my eye I saw Harry’s hat collection. That’s when a certain pink object caught my attention. I ran over to the collection and pulled the hat off and held it up to the screen. “You have a pink pom pom bobble beanie?!” I exclaimed to him, and his eyes went wide.

“Yes…”

“I love these kinds of beanies! I have like six!!” I told him while slipping the hat over my head.

“It looks cute on you,” Harry said, admiring the hat sat upon my dark brown hair. “Keep it.”

“What? Are you sure?” I asked him. “I already have so much of your stuff.”

“I’m sure. I don’t ever wear that hat anymore and I know you’ll wear it. And when you do wear it you’ll think of me,” Harry said with a cheeky smile on his face.

“Sweet!” I happily said. Just when I sat back on Harry’s bed and turned the laptop with me, my phone started going off. I stood up and went over to my purse and pulled the phone out. “Charlotte’s calling me,” I said, more to myself than Harry.

“Answer it,” Harry told me. “And put it on speaker! I want to hear.” I thought about it for a second and before it was too late I pressed the answer button and followed with the speaker button.

“Hello?” I said while staring at Harry, trying to keep myself calm.

“Please let me explain myself to you!” Charlotte frantically said into the phone.

“What is it Charlie?” I exasperated, still holding my gaze with Harry’s.

“I had a job interview and I didn’t tell you because I wanted to surprise you if I got it. The reason your room was a disaster was because I needed a professional looking outfit to wear and I knew your closet was the place to go,” Charlotte explained, and it threw me off guard that she didn’t tell me about the interview.

“Then why didn’t you clean it up before you left?” I asked.

“Because I was running late. I had a meeting with my admissions advisor and it ran over so I had very little time to get ready. I was going to clean it up when I got back because I figured I’d get back before you but I didn’t. I got the job and they started showing me around and it took a while, but trust me I cleaned up the whole apartment when I did get back and then I read your note when I finished and I just feel like the biggest douchebag ever,” Charlotte said all in one breath.

“Well you should feel like a big douchebag,” I told her and Harry gave me a disapproving look, which simply made me flip him the bird.

“And I do! This is why your room is spotless and I even repacked your suit case and made a list of what you still need to pack! Please don’t hate me Abs,” Charlotte pleaded.

“I don’t hate you Char. I’m just mad for the moment, I leave the country in a few days and I wasn’t looking forward to coming home today to a room that looked like twelve tornadoes went through it. I just need you to help out more,” I told her and Harry gave me a thumbs up.

“That’s why I went applying for jobs. I want to help out with groceries and everything I can. Dad only decided to pay my tuition, my part of the rent and then give me a small monthly allowance. I’m gonna help out more though, I promise. The job I got, it’s a really good paying job,” Charlotte said and I was convinced that she truly felt bad.

“What kind of job did you get?” I asked.

“A bartending job,” she said. My face scrunched up because I didn’t know she had a bartender’s license.

“Where at?”

“Some night club called Funky Buddha?” She told me, and my eyes popped open in recognition.

“Really?! I love that club!” I yelled.

“Me too!” Harry yelled from the video chat.

“Is that Harry? I thought he was on tour?” Charlotte asked, obviously hearing Harry in the background.

“Yeah I’m video chatting with him. He loves Funky Buddha too, in fact our whole group does,” I told her, moving around to get more comfortable.

“Good! Then I’ll be able to get you all in to the hottest parties and what not!” Charlotte excitedly said.

“I’m happy for you, and I’m sorry for blowing up on you like that. I just wish you would have told me about the interview, I could have helped you and avoid my room becoming a disaster,” I told her.

“I know but I wanted it to be a surprise!” She exclaimed, causing me to wince at how loud she was. “Can you forgive me? And come back to the apartment? I’m scared.”

“Yes I forgive you, and yes I’ll be back shortly you big baby,” I told her, with laughter in my voice.

“Yay! I love you and I’ll have a movie night set up by the time you get back!” She said, and then hung up.

“See? She’s trying, love. She just wanted to surprise you,” Harry told me while wagging one of his fingers at me.

“I know. She just told me Har,” I said to him, bobbing my head side to side to add emphasis.

“You’re so sassy!!” He yelled while laughing.

“Don’t remind me. Anyways I guess I better head back to my place,” I, sadly, told him.

“Alright, I’ll let you go. I miss you,” Harry said, while blowing me a kiss.

“I miss you too,” I told him, sending a kiss to him as well.

“I love you,” Harry told me, placing his hand over his heart.

“I love you too. ‘Til next time Styles,” I said to him, holding up the peace sign with my left hand.

“’Til next time Grimes,” Harry said, with a toothy smile. We both pressed disconnect at the same time. I packed up my things and headed back to my apartment. Once I got back to my apartment building I slowly ascended to my apartment, I braced myself outside my door before going inside. I opened the door and everything was spotless, cleaner than I’ve ever even cleaned.

“Charlotte!” I yelled while walking further into the apartment. Sitting on my coffee table were two bowls of popcorn, some beverages and of course junk food.

“Right here,” she yelled from the kitchen and I walked in there and pulled her into a hug.

“What’s this for?” She asked as she hugged me back.

“Thank you, for cleaning up the mess you made. I appreciate it.”

“No problem, it’s the least I could do. I feel like I’ve let you down ever since I moved here,” Charlotte openly admitted.

“Don’t think that. I knew you were messy before you moved in, I just didn’t brace myself for it. I’m sorry,” I told her once I pulled away from the hug.

“I’m sorry too. Just don’t punch my tits over and over again, or ever threaten to do that again,” she sternly told me, referring to my threat I left in the note. I couldn’t help but laugh at her.

“Come on, let’s go watch some movies, bitch,” I told her while walking over to the couch in front of the TV. We both plopped down and pulled a blanket for the both of us.

“I’ve missed our best friend movie nights,” Charlotte said as the opening credits to The Breakfast Club started.

“I’m glad we live together. I’ve missed my best friend,” I told her while cuddling up to her, something we always used to do on our movie nights.

I knew there was some good lying in her; she just needed her moment to prove it.
